Reading An Input Array With Single Element?

May 18, 2009

I am trying to develop a small web based inventory programme. In the programme, after orders are placed for supply of an item, the materials are to be recieved by the stores. For this a "goods received page" is used. On start the page loads items as per the purchase order in the database. Javascript is used to calculate the cost of each item and total cost of all items. since the number of items vary from order to order I use the following code to load the page. ( PHP is used in the server side).

<input type='text' size='10' name ='rqty[]' value='1.000' align='right' onchange="recalculate()">
<input type='text' size='10' name ='rqty[]' value='2.000' align='right' onchange="recalculate()">

[Code]....

My problem is that the above will work whenever there are two or more items and the variable qty is actually an array. But it does not work when there is only one item. In other words, it does not recognises a single element array. value of rsize is returned as undefined. Splitting the loading process with seperate naming for single items as rqty and multiple items as rqty[] is not possible as option to be given to delete items from a multiple item page. This may end up in a single item page eve n when there are multiple items at load time.

Copying Input Array Element Values Between Two Forms?

Nov 3, 2009

I have two forms with identically named arrays on each. I need to copy the values to the second form's array. Here's a simplified version of the HTML:

<form name="mainform">
<input type="text" size="10" name=firstnames[] value="Joe"/>
<input type="text" size="10" name=firstnames[] value="Bob"/>
<input type="text" size="10" name=firstnames[] value="Pat"/>

[Code]....

I'd like to be able to submit hiddenform with the firstnames array equal to ['Joe', 'Bob', 'Pat']. But I seem to be getting an awful lot of ['', '', ''] no matter how I go about it.

Using Variable When Reading Value From ASP Array

Nov 17, 2011

I need to use a javascript variable when reading a value from a asp array. Currently I have a windows app that has a webbrowser. The windows app invokes a javascript method through the webbrowser and this javascript method returns an object. This object is built in the javascript function using values which exist inside a classic asp array. The function that sits on the relevant asp page, is invoked from my windows app and then returns the object to the windows app is below.

function item(count){
var pid;
var description;
var fullprice;
var discountprice;
var quantity;
var size;

this.pid = '<%=SBagArray(0,count) %>'; //ProductId
this.description = "<%=SBagArray(1,count)%>"; //description
this.fullprice = <%=SBagArray(8,count) %>; //Fullprice
this.discountprice = <%=SBagArray(9,count) %>; //Discountprice
this.quantity = <%=SBagArray(6,count) %>; //Quantity
this.size = <%=SBagArray(2,count) %>; //Size
this.getPid = function() { return this.pid; }
this.getDescription = function() { return this.description; }
this.getFullprice = function() { return this.fullprice; }
this.getDiscountprice = function() { return this.discountprice; }
this.getQuantity = function() { return this.quantity; }
this.getSize = function() { return this.size; }
}

My problem is that the variable 'count' is not recognised by the asp. So, how can I use this variable in such a way that it works?

Reading Full Value Of Upload-type Input?

Oct 3, 2009

I have a page with a customizable background. The user can choose a picture to set as the background by finding the picture file they want after clicking the upload input. The path of the file they select is saved into a cookie, and the page then switches backgrounds.

This all works perfectly, but the value that the upload input returns is only the file name, not the full path. For example, let's say I wanted to choose a picture named "bg.jpg" in the "Windows" folder of the C drive. The full path would be "C:/Windows/bg.jpg". However, the value that the input returns is just "bg.jpg".

How would I have the input return the entire path of the file using JavaScript?

Marking An Element As .checked And Reading InnerHTML

Aug 26, 2006

I have this code snippet:

updateProps snippet:

if (mycheckbox.checked == &#391;')
? $('mycheckbox').checked = true
: $('mycheckbox').checked = false;

content = $('mydiv').innerHTML;

html snippet:

<div id="mydiv">
<input id="mycheckbox" class="checkbox" type="checkbox" value=""
tabindex="14" onchange="(this.checked) ? checkVal = &#391;' : checkVal =
&#390;'updateProps(checkVal, 'mycheckbox')" />
</div>

The problem is that when I display the contents of content it doesnt
have 'checked'. But if I alert($('mycheckbox').checked); it says it is
true

Is this a problem with innerHTML not grabbing the correct data or the
checkbox not actually being checked?

JQuery :: Reading Text Value On <button> Element?

Aug 27, 2009

I'm trying to read (and then change) the text on two buttons in my
user interface:

<button class="primary approve">Approve selected</button>
<button class="primary reject">Reject selected</button>

Now depending on how many checkboxes (elsewhere) are selected, I want to change the text to something like "Approve 4 selected" I'm tried in vain to acess:

$("button.primary").each(function(){
console.log( $('this').text() );//fails
console.log( $('this').html() );//fails
});

and for completeness sake I also tried $(this).value -- but of course it returns the .value attribute of the button. 2 questions: How do I access the text and change it?

Creating A New API - Use A Single Array Or Multiple Arrays?

Jan 8, 2011

I have a choice when creating a new API that I would like other peoples opinions on. Do I use a single Array or Multiple arrays such as: array[1][1] = "ID[56]NAME[Hello World]START[10]"; OR

ID[1][1] = 56;
Name[1][1] = "Hello World";
Start[1][1] = 20;

The API is used for animations so is very heavy work, but would using around 15 multidimensional arrays be too much and a single one be preferable???

JQuery :: XML Parsing/Reading Xml Element Doesn't Work In IE6/quirksdocumentmode

Jun 21, 2011

That's a html file. Because of forbidden uploads of html files i removed the file extension. So put after download the file extension ".html" on it and take a look at the sourcecode.

The goal is to parse the included xml structure and to show the some information as tabs with a title. Unfortunately I need to run that in IE& or to day in quirks document mode cause my application just runs on that. <press F12 in IE and set document mode to quirks>

check the alerts:
alert('ID: ' + $(this).attr('id')); works fine but not this: alert('ATTR: ' + $(this).children('title').first().text());

Perhaps there is something wrong with $(this).children('title').first().text(); or i have no child nodes in my object. normally I use find() to get rid of that but i saw somewhere that filter() is possible for older ie versions.

Take Data From An Array And Apply Each Array Item To An Element

Mar 26, 2010

I'm trying to grab values from a set of arrays based on the value returned by my select box.

**Caveat - this is not an area I have any real experience with**

My arrays look like:

Code JavaScript:

I then need to test for each, then associate with one of my fees arrays, then grab each of the values in the array and write those values to elements within my page.

I'm then doing this to evaluate for each degree

Code JavaScript:

I need to first figure out how best to import all of these 60+ arrays and then in each of my conditions pull out each value and write to my page.

There is a unique 1 to 1 relationship between each degree and array so I can't consolidate as the values for each degree differ slightly.
