I am trying to set up a web based tool for my wife and I to use to balance our checkbook together. I am using HTML, Javascript (Ajax), PHP and MYSQL. I have read beginner books on all of these subjects, I can get data out of MYSQL, BUT can't do it the way I want to do it. If someone could point me to a book, or even the name of what I need to study it would be very helpful. The top line will always be input. But as you submit the top line it refreshes the "growing list" beneath it. (kind of like on-line banking, where you can look at 50 or so lines and then go back further if necessary) The catch is within the "growing list" I want to show Bank and book balance running totals and have three buttons next to each transaction ... EDIT DELETE SUBMIT. If edit is clicked, I want to be able to change that line and then resubmit it to MYSQL.
[Code]...
This way we can both input our transactions as we spend money and know at all times how much money is in the account. What do I need to study to be able to program this?
I should warn, i know almost nothing about javascript. i've been trying read sample scripts and examples on how to modify this script; but I just don't know enough. I have a script that pulls data from an array, and copies it directly to the clipboard when a user clicks on it. The problem is this only works in IE, because Firefox doesn't by default allow that to happen. I'm trying to change it so that when it is clicked, instead, it takes what was going to be copied to the clipboard, and puts it in a Prompt box for the user to copy and paste. I had other scripts that do that, but I can't for the life of me figure out how to learn from it!
I am trying to create a page that will pull data out of an input text box to a variable. I am then trying to take that data and punch it into a function, to eventually spit out the answer back on the web page. It has to do with telling the user to enter how many hours worked and their pay rate. I have included the code below. The problem I seem to be having is that I want to click a button to pull the data, then output the result in another script below the input boxes. I may have over done it with the functions, but what can I say..I'm lost! When I try to run it, I have the document.write cmd in there that is supposed to output the variable grossPay. Instead, it shows all the code instead of the value.
If I have something else wrong, or if I am making poor choices let me know. For some background, so far I am in the beginning stages of functions, if..else statements, so I am not trying to get crazy with this. Just something simple.
HTML Code: <html> <body> <script type="text/javascript"> var WinNetwork = new ActiveXObject("WScript.Network"); document.write(WinNetwork.userName); </script> [Code]...
I have two questions. First i want to display (WinNetwork.userName) NT LOGIN into the textbox. Is there any where i can link both Javascript and textbox. Secondly, when i open the html have i first get warning the internet explorer page im trying to open have activeX. Is there any where i can stop that popup aleart from being displayed.
I have an object with a single Method to load content from a xml file. The problem is... how do I add a property to the object to store the data loaded?? I tryed adding a simple Array inside the object, but didn't work.
Need some help with my For loop. The issue is that, my loop is only returning the values of the last item in the js file. I want the select box to include all possible names.
I have an each loop that goes through all the elements in a certain class. What I need to do is get the ID of the current element in the each loop, but I can't seem to figure out how to. var currentID =$(this).attr ("id"); was my first assumption, but it's not working. [code]The css is just for debugging, not the goal, so alternate ways for me to do that won't help.
I am trying to make a countdown that takes a users number from the text box and then counts down from there. I cant seem to get the user input into the loop.
I am using MYSQL to store articles. I wanted to present the articles in order by id, then let the user choose one of them and send the id of the article to another php page for processing, using ajax. To do so i have placed a simple form in the articles. like so:
$result = mysql_query("SELECT * FROM articles ORDER BY id DESC") or die(mysql_error()); while($row = mysql_fetch_array($result)){
I have the following data structure (shown in code view below) coming back from a query. How can I loop over this and create an <li></li> for each record on the client side?The end result should be :
I have an issue in dynamically assigning Onclick/<a href> action to the data within <td> cell.
Am pulling out data from a XML file, and displaying it as a table data on HTML page within a for loop. But within a loop, when am trying to do <a href> for the data by providing a dynamically changing URL value, the data is not getting displayed.
I donot know how to do it!! code...
In the code, name is the data element that am pulling from XML file.
On clicking each name, an URL should appear which has name as part of it.
For example, if the name is Kiran, then the URL will be 'Kiran.html'.
Is it possible to do it this way? Please suggest if there is any other way?Kiran.html
I have created a servlet that does nothing more than create a XML file.i have got some JQuery code that reloads the servlet to get the XML data.This works fine and i am able to load the data i want, the problem i have is that when the data is loaded to the jsp page it displays [object Document] in front of my output.
Trying to add a new property to a non-jQuery object from inside each loop doesn't appear to work: var arguments=new Object(); arguments['ticket']=ticket; arguments['email']=email; arguments['module']=module; arguments['epoch']=new Date().getTime();
var total=0; $('select.category').each(function(){ var name=$(this).attr('id'); var option=$(this).find('option:selected').val(); total+=parseInt(option); arguments[name]=option; });
The 'total' variable works as expected. The the 'arguments' variable doesn't. Almost like a variable scope issue or something. If I put some extra debug code to print out all the property/value pairs, outside each loop I only see original four, and inside each loop only the new one just set and none of the original four.?
I am having a single row which repeat dynamically. My issue is i want to make alternate colors in rows. (i.e white n gray) I can put the class for the row. but when it repeats it get the same bg color. How can i do the alternate thing.?
I have static object and I want remake it to a constructor with property 'length' which would be not enumerable in for loop... This is my object and how I generate it
php page is echoing out:{"species":"Please select a species!"} I double checked the response from the php and firebug shows the same. On success alert is not alerting the JSON data instead, I'm receiving [object Object]. Why is that and how do what should I do to fix this?
I am doing a JSON request to get data back from a PHP file. On the return of that data, I am using a for loop to go through the data and post it up using JS. Here is my code:
for (var x = 0; x < data.length; x++) { //create a container for each comment var div = $("<div>").addClass("entry round").appendTo("#characters"); //add author name and comment to container $("<div>").addClass("details").appendTo(div); $("<span>").addClass("main-armory button").appendTo("div.details"); }
Now, what is happening, because there is 10 entries being posted, my JS is looking at the class that is being put together (main-armory button) and making it so that class appends every run through. So, I want one entry for main-armory button and I am getting this:
And then, when it goes down to the next entry, it has 9 spans, and then the next entry has 8 spans, and it continues all the way down. What is going on here that I am missing? I know that I am not clearing a variable properly or something is wrong within my loop.
I have a bunch of dynamically created divs which I need to loop through and then display text inside which is obtained via AJAX.
<div class="appStatus" id="appStat_1>TEXT FROM PHP PAGE</div> <div class="appStatus" id="appStat_2>TEXT FROM PHP PAGE</div> <div class="appStatus" id="appStat_3>TEXT FROM PHP PAGE</div>
Basically, I want to loop through all divs where class = appStatus and on each iteration pull data from a PHP page (via AJAX) to display in the DIV. I need to send the value after the _ of the id (which I can obtain using substring) with the AJAX request in order to return the correct text.For some reason.I know that I need to do something with
I have the following data object. Each string in the "lib" element represents a new record. I need to display each of these records in html table format so I can be able to sort on each column. How can I get each string from each element into its own row, or is there a better way to populate this data object?
var jsData = new Array();
for (var i = 0; i < 4; i++) { jsData[jsData.length] = {lib: "string1,string2,string3,string4", id: "num1,num2,num3,num4", com: "string1,string2,string3,string4"}; }
I want to pass the value to my object id = "Parameters" How can I do that? I had tried the code as posted below but it couldn't work. I'm using document.all.Parameters.data = tempParams[0]; to pass in the data to
I've search far and wide for an answer, so forgive me if this is a stupid question. (Well, it probably is.)
Consider the following javascript:
var foo = new Image(); foo.src = "http://some.server.com/some_filename.gif";
Now, the browser will retrieve 'some_filename.gif' from some.server.com and put it into the object foo. What I want to do is then subsequently analyze the actual binary data contained inside some_filename.gif. (Specifically, I just need to look at the first few bytes.) Is there any way to do this in just JavaScript?
I'm trying to get the binary data of an image object.
I've found articles to writing binary to be the source of an image, but they don't tell you how to do the reverse. Pretty much, after the page loads I want to do something like.
For those that are curious why I'm doing this its for another project I'm working on where I store the binary data somewhere else after load, but for technical reasons this has to be done client side for if I do it server side I'm not getting the results I need for this project.
