I have got some code working below which creates a nice effect when shopping on a website. Basically i have a large image, and 4 thumbnails below, when i hover over the thumbnails the main image changes to match etc..Now i would expect this to work, but i dont know how to change the JS at the top of the page to match my requirements? The JS at the top is also selecting images 2,12,11 and 13, but again i want this to be linking to my table from database..
I am trying to create a form to edit existing data in my database. I have 2 drop down boxes( category then item) they do not work correctly. I am using php to populate the drop down boxes but there is nothing dynamic about doing this. I think I need to totally rewrite the page using java script or Ajax but I don't know what parts.So I want the user to select a category from a drop down list populated by database then have it populate the item list(so I think both of these need to be java script in case they change the category it will re populate the item list). Then I just want the selection of the item to pull the information to my form so they can update it and save the update(which I am pretty sure I can save the update as a php function but need to populate the item editable information in java script). I am really looking for help on how to setup the page with java script to make database queries and use the results to update parts of the page.In case you confused here is my flow:page loads
-User selects catagory query database for item list (on change event it think) -User selects item.Item information is pulled and displayed from database(cost, serial number, quantity(another on change event) -User is able to edit information and save updated results(run an update.php...)
I'm trying to pull data from multiple database tables and output them into a table which I've done fine, but I'm having trouble trying to filter the rows by specific values like colour and size selected from select boxes without reloading the page.
After more than a day of looking though I have made no progress, If this was to be done with just PHP and MySQL reloading the page I'd have no problem but having problems with the AJAX side.
I am following the following example to create predictive text pull out of the database.[URL]... Seemed quite easy but it seems like it's not working for me, maybe because i'm doing something wrong?
This is the page:[URL]... If you start typing in the big search box the suggestions box appears in the wrong place, and it should be returning some results but it's not.
there is a selection of menus on the screen that you can change select different options to show you a price.
issue is as follows; i want to be able to create url's for every product in the database for google adword purposes; for example if they click on the google ad they come direct to the page/selection from the table/drop downs that is what they want. currently we have got as far as creating the below link;
[URL]
this link will take you to the product, but the drop downs from the menus haven't changed, just the price and the quantity.
i need to know of a way of selecting from the database and it be able to change the drop downs from a specific url.
our problem is we need to populate a select option in order of the one we send.
I'm very new to jQuery, only picked it up yesterday, so there is very little I understand at the moment. I have a website on which I would like to display a real time, time-series chart displaying results from a database that is constantly updated. how to pull live data from my database and display it in an alert box on my sight. One of the replies said I should use jquery to achieve this.
I am coming to the end of creating my website, and want to incorporate something like the link shown below:-
[URL]
You can see here that there is a large image and 3 smaller images, and the user can hover over the image to zoom into it.
My website is currently at this stage, see below:-
[URL]
As you can see i have not yet incorprated the image zoom.
The images are being pulled from a database so i would want to be able to click on the different thumbnails and fill the large image box with the selected image, and also have the option to hover over to zoom..
i want to add a image tag on my database so that while filling student form.they can also add image of student by selecting that image from the computer.how can i do this
I have a MySQL database with a table where I store images (the file name, the mimetype of every file and the binary data in a BLOB plus a unique ID). Now what I'd like to achieve is to load an image from the database using AJAX and the POST method. Viewing a specific image using the GET method is quite simple, I just set the SRC attribute of an <img /> HTML tag to link to the PHP file and set the correct GET variables, there's no AJAX needed for that.I click a button or something, and 'behind the scenes' PHP is retrieving an image from the MySQL database, depending on the unique ID that was provided by AJAX through the POST method. AJAX uses the returned data to fill an element somewhere in the document, and that would be the freshly-loaded image.
Alright here's some code:
//PHP retrieving an image: $returnImageQuery = "SELECT imageName, mimetype, imageBinaryData FROM imageTable WHERE ID = $_POST['someID']"; $return = mysql_query($returnImageQuery );
I've been advised that the only way to accomplish this is via some hand-coded javascript, at which I'm a complete noob, so hopefully someone here might be able to steer me in the right direction.I have a listings page which displays results using images and text which are stored in a MySQL database, all is working fine. The images are pulled into the page from the database and each listing can have up to a maximum of 10 images. Some will have all 10, some probably one or two, so the page is coded such that if there's an image in the field, it displays a thumbnail, if there isn't then it shoves a " " in instead.The results page has one main photo (image 1) and then a series of thumbnails (images 2-10) below it and I need to be able to set this up so that when someone clicks on image 2 it shows the full-size version of that image in the div where image1 sits, and the same for however many remaining images there are.
So my question is, how easy it is to do this with javascript and does anyone have any idea how to code it?The main photo sits in a div whose id is "mainphoto" the remainder all sit in a div whose id is "thumbpix".
I'm building a site that uses some jQuery but at this point I haven't had to get my hands dirty in the code. I'm hoping to get some pointers on how to best approach this problem, or if a plug-in exists to point me that way. I'm anticipating I'll need to build the code though because of the specific nature of the issue. I have a two very complex MySQL data trees that need to cross reference. To handle the cross referencing I simply have a third table that links the ids of the large tables together. That way I can join data via the linking table. This is all working and established. What I need to do is allow the admin user to navigate through one tree from within the context of a particular element from the other tree and click a toggle icon (tick or cross) to create or delete the cross reference in the linking table. Traditionally I would perform this task using forms but I want the user to be able to make these changes on the fly without needing to reload the page. I also want to stop further toggling until the update or delete has been completed.
I have got a DIV that I need to refresh, its content consists of an image that will change on the insertion of a row to the SQL Database, however, when I use a refresh on my div it does refresh but does not change the image...
My refresh code is ajax:
And my PHP code contains the MYSQL that has a mysql_num_rows, so that PHP can see if there are rows or not.
I would like my page not to redirect or refresh on my div change.. So I would just like my div to refresh.
I have been searching how to connect to a database and execute some queries, and then use the data that I get to populate some tables in a web page, all this using javascript.
I am confused because I have seen in some webpages that javascript is not designed to connect with databases, and also I have see other pages where they say that it is possible.
Does anyone know if it is possible to use javascript to connect to a database (informix), and execute some procedures or queries?
I am having no luck with my post form to mysql. It is only posting the first letter of the word/phrase for the text input fields to the mysql database. It is a photo and text post form. The photo and only first letter of text are posting to database. I am using Jqtouch, jquery, and phonegap.
I am attempting to create an Access database connection from within an HTML page. I am using Javascript to make the connection and then test a basic UPDATE statement.
The following code is throwing back an error 'UPDATE statment syntax incorrect'
Code:
I thought the syntax was correct, but maybe it is something else?
The options in one of my pull down menus link to other sections of the same page. I've noticed that selecting one of these links opens a new instance of the entire page instead of just scrolling down to the appropriate section. How can I make the menu do what I want?
<form name="f1"> <select name="s1" class="hnhjumpbox"> <option value="#">See our Policies...</option> <option value="#">----------</option> <option value="#service">Service</option> <option value="#payment">Payment</option> <option value="#packing">Packing</option> <option value="#shipping">Shipping</option> <option value="#returns">Returns</option> </select> <input type="button" name="test" class="hnhjumpboxbutton" value="Go" title="Select a link from the drop-down menu first!" onClick="location=document.f1.s1.options[document.f1.s1.selectedIndex].value ;"></form>
For instance, I have an anchor at the Payment section. When I select the Payment link from the pull down menu, a new instance of the page opens and then jumps down to the Payment section. I want it to jump down to the payment section without opening a new page.
I have a page with 2 drop-down menus. The task is, when you select 1 menu, your selection then changes the options available in the other. This data happens to be drawn from a mysql database, so I wouldn't think that it could be done purely in Javascript, but rather a combination of PHP generating some JS code. Thing is, I don't even see how to change a menu's available options with JavaScript, only names and values of individual fields.
I am trying to pull a value being stored in a php function (it works fine) which is echoed into an html element, and use it in a javascript function. my HTML:
function get_large_image(){ var image = document.getElementById('menu_image').src; alert(image); }
right now the alert is giving me flie path to the current page, I need a file path to the image. When I had javascript pull a value from an input tag using the id to reference and stored the php function in the value attribute, I got this: "object HtmlElement" The final purpose of all this is to modify dynamically and HTML <a>'s href and class attribute based on a certain condition being true.
Is there a way to pull a text off a certain div on a page, and put it into a javascript string? I'm certain that the field has a particular name and id that I can use, if need be.
This data seems to stop the loop when in mozilla and i cant seem to be able to bypass it. i corrected the DOM by using the nodetype if statements and it produces exactly what i want it too in IE. In mozilla it goes through the first loop and cancels when adjusting the parent i. says the 7th(and last nextsibling)is null and stops all script.
