Passing Value To Server On Click Event
Oct 16, 2010
I am using google maps and would like to pass the latlng value back to the server as follows
oogle.maps.event.addListener(map, 'click', function(event) {
alert(event.latLng);
post_to_url('updll.php', {'latlng': event.latLng});
location.reload();
placeMarker(event.latLng);
});
The event.latLng gives me the coordinates and the location.reload() reloads the page, but I need to pass the coordinates in to the server so they can be acted upon by the server before the page reloads.

I got a pretty large function, one that could essentially be condensed (if you feel so inclined). I would like to know how I can get my if statements inside the toggle functions working properly. I have 4 functions and 2 of them are click functions for closing (display:none). I would like to pass a listener to the toggle funciton to listen for the $close.click(). The if statement in the toggle functions is not doing anything.
<script type="text/javascript" >
$(document).ready(function(){
var $contactLink = $("#contactLink");
var $contactBox = $("#contact-container");
var $qrLink = $("#qrLink");
var $qrBox = $("#qr-container");
var $qrBack = $("#qrBack");
var $contactBack = $("#contactBack");
$contactBox.css("display","none");
$qrBox.css("display","none");
$contactLink.toggle(
function(){
if($contactBox.css("display","none")){
$contactBox.css("display","inherit");
alert('here'); .....

I have a TreeView populated from a SQL Server database (via an XML doc). The TreeView includes checkboxes on each branch and leaf. Each entry on the TreeView may or may not inherit access permission from its parent. That is, if you're granted access to branch "A", you automatically get permission to leaves "A1", "A2", and "A4", but not to "A3", as its inheritance flag is set to false.I have created an array of struct's on the server-side.
Struct format is:
public struct TreeInheritData
{
public Int32 namespaceID; // this identifies the node
[code]...
The array is populated with these structs.The TreeView I'm using (from Infragistics) has a client-side event when the CheckBox status changes.So, what I need help on is getting this array of structs from the server to the JavaScript, and then being able to access the structs so that I can determine whether to change the status of the child nodes' checkboxes.

I have this code:
var dataString = $.toJSON(data);
$.post(url, {dataValues: dataString}, function(res){
$('#secretIFrame').attr('src', url);
$('#secretIFrame').html(res);
});
Problem is, I can't access dataValues at the server side once I assign this same URL to the iframe.Is there any other way to POST JSON value through form submission without ajax? or any other way out, I am trying to download file that is based on some parameters and isn't a direct download link.

I would like to create a plugin that I can put before a click event on a button. The click event should occur if the user's time on the page hasn't expired. The plugin should check the user's time, and then stop the click event if the time has expired. With the plugin, I'm essentially putting two click events on the same button, as I need to check the expiration when the button is clicked. The plugin is working on my test page, but I'm afraid that this is contingent on an arbitrary ordering of the click events by jQuery. If I have my click event chained after my plugin, can I be assured that the plugin would always stop the click event if the time is expired? Or could jQuery execute the click event before the time gets checked?
(function( $ ){
$.fn.checkExpiration = function(
$this = $(this);
return this.each(function(){3

I want to call the click event of the link (anchor tag) on the click of the button. I used this code below in the click event of button to call links click event and it works fine in IE.
document.getElementById('linktag').click();
But, this doesn't work in Firefox. I googled a bit and found that in firefox, you have to do something more to achieve this behaviour. So, I ended up doing this on button click to work in firefox:
var link=document.getElementById('linktag');
var e = document.createEvent('MouseEvents');
e.initEvent(
[code]....
The above code does the click on link when I click on the button. But my problem now is that I have defined a link as
<a href="mailto:abc@xyz.com?subject=abc&body=email body">email </a>
and when click is called and mailto links opens my email client, it somehow ignores the subject and body parameters of the link. It works properly when i actually click a link element. but it doesn't work when i simulate the click event by code written above. above dispatching event code somehow ignores the link parameters?

I have an object that has a click event I'm trying to trigger. However in the click event I have the following if statement:
if(event.button != 0){return true;}
This if statement allows right clicks to go through and activate but it also prevents me from triggering the event. Any ideas on how to prevent this? If I remove the if statement from the first click function everything works as intended.Here's my example code based off of the trigger event examples:
<!DOCTYPE html>
<html>

I am currently trying to implement google maps, but I encounter a fundamental problem. I have the following peaco of code:
Code:
for ( var i = 0; i < locations.length; i++) {
var location = locations[i];
var myLatLng = new google.maps.LatLng(location[1], location[2]);
[Code]...
It throws no errors, however all the time only the last marker item is passed to Solar.openInfoWindow.

I am developing a web form using python cgi which has two list boxes. On selecting a value from the listbox1, the list box 2 should get auto populated with appropriate values (which are taken from the DB). I have written a javascript function to get the selected value from the list box1. But I am struck with passing the values from the javascript to the python function written in server side in which I have written the DB related stuffs.

I have a DOM click event that creates a <span>. When the user clicks a button, it turns that <span> into a textarea that the user can type a new name in, press enter, and then the span contains the text the user input. Sort of like when you rename a file in Windows Explorer.
Anyway, the code is something like this, and I'm wondering if I can use 'area_el' in this way... right now it's giving me the error that area_el is undefined, even though I define it in the function that contains the Event declaration.The first part is the Dom stuff to make it all work. It's not stuff I need to mess with, but I'm putting it here in case it's useful.
var Dom = {
get: function(el)
{

However radioValue value is not getting passed Code snippets are attached below. Not sure whether the problem is in the JS function or whether i am calling the var incorrectly in the _gaq.push script. The radioValue is captured in the overall form validation function as below.

I'm trying to use the ONBLUR event, on the email field, to then pass parameters to a JS function, which calls a PHP file, to insert a row into a MySQL db. I saw an example of how to do this, using a hidden field, possibly I need 3 hidden fields to pass the 3 parameters (value of fields) ?. Anyway, here is the code:

I have a basic understanding of selecting elements and performing manipulations or effects, but I'm having real trouble grasping the basics of setting up variables, performing maths on variables and biggest of all, how you go about passing information from the HTML into a jquery function.
I have a site where clicking on any photo thumbnail brings up a full-screen lightbox to display the image full-size - I'm using the following to bring in the lightbox:
$(".photo").click(function(){
$("#lightbox").css({"visibility":"visible","z-index":"2"});
$("#lightbox").stop(true, false).animate({opacity:1},800);
});
This works just fine, I also have no problem re-assigning the SRC of a blank image within the lightbox to make sure the correct image renders, my problem is I just don't know how to generate or pass information into this function to begin with to act as a reference point so the code knows what image it should be displaying based on which thumbnail was clicked.
I don't need anything particularly clever, even if each thumbnail simply had a numerical figure associated with it (eg "4") which gave the function something to work with once it was fired - that would be enough.
I know how to do all this in regular JavaScript but I have to admit I'm finding the documentation for jquery really hard work, I'm having real problems grasping the fact that the functions aren't being triggered directly by the HTML.
Another solution would be to get the src of the image that was clicked on, split the string and pull out just the filename (ie 5.jpg) and then prepend a path to it for the final full size image ( largeimage/ + 5.jpg).
I know there are probably pre-made scripts for this kind of thing but I'd like to try and avoid them if possible.

I'm working with nested functions and trying to pass a 'this' value to an anonymous being used in an assignment for an event listener.So, this should plop a button inside our DIV and when clicked I'd like it to run the alert-ding; unfortunately it seems to want to run the function as defined under the buttons object which doesn't work out too well.
