Return Php Values (for 'AjaxfileUpload')?

Dec 8, 2011

I am trying to build an interface to upload files and change some of the form (hidden) values depending on the file uploaded, here is where I got so far:

$('#buttonUpload').click(function (){
$.ajaxFileUpload({
url:'doajaxfileupload.php',
secureuri:false,
fileElementId:'fileToUpload',
dataType: 'txt',
[Code]....

My problem is that I want doajaxfileupload.php to return a variable to javascript/change some html form value. The code works as it is for the file upload, I just need to add something for the output, Edit: I just noticed that some previous part of the code is still there: the part that changes the color of the button depending if the file is uploaded or not. Now I want those values to change depending on what file is uploaded.

Using Multiple Return Values ?

Jun 10, 2009

I was looking at some public code for detecting browser version/type as well as the new IE8 compatibility view. The code does a return of multiple values but I can't figure out how to use them in my html code.

I've managed to figure out most of what the code is doing but I haven't figured out how to access the returned information. I've only been coding JavaScript for a short time so I'm stumped.

Here's the code:

Return Sum Of All Input Values Within Loop

Jan 19, 2006

I have a bunch of input fields, each which will have a numerical value. There can be any number of input fields in the form, and that number will vary depending on what the user has selected prior in the application.

So basically I created a loop that goes though all of the INPUT fields within the form. How can I have it find the value of each field and add them all together, then return to me the total? It'll need to be made into a variable, but a simple alert with the total value will give me enough to work with.

JQuery :: Attr() Return Different Values Across The Versions?

Jan 8, 2012

I have a problem with attr() function.I made my own lightbox and with jQuery 1.4.x it works nice. But now I use 1.7 and there is a problem. When I called attr in 1.4 $(element).attr("rel") when element hasn't rel, it returns empty string, but in 1.7 it returns undefined.Why? I read a changelog and I didn't find any change at that function.

Cannot Get Return False To Work

Jan 13, 2009

I have look through the forum and couldn't find the answer I was looking for, I am working my way through the simply javascript book and wanted to validate a form, if the form doesn't validate then keep the user on the same page and guide it with info, if it is OK then allow it to go onto another page, the javascrpt is on an external page and is called correctly, I have removed all the link info just so that it passes the spam filter. The return false does not seem to work, it will give me the alert box and then still move onto the jowebpage.

Return Causing Script Not To Work

Sep 30, 2010

I am building a wordpress theme that utilizes a theme options panel. The theme has a area where someone can enter in their email address, and when they do a Thank You message displays. One of the sections in the theme options panel allows the users to modify that message. Right now the message is formatted like this: "Thank you for your interest!<br />As soon as as we are ready we will send you an email with all the details."

And the page source shows this:
$('#right').html("<div id='submitted'></div>");
$('#submitted').html("Thank you for your interest!<br />
As soon as as we are ready we will send you an email with all the details.")
.hide()
.fadeIn(1000, function() {
});

(I bolded the thank you message) now the form functions properly the way it should and the thank you message appears accordingly when someone submits their email. However, if the person modifies the message via the theme options panel and uses "Enter" for a return or line break the code looks like this:
$('#right').html("<div id='submitted'></div>");
$('#submitted').html("Thank you for your interest!

As soon as as we are ready we will send you an email with all the details.")
.hide()
.fadeIn(1000, function() {
});
And this causes the form not to function properly. The thank you message will not show up.

Firefox - Safari Return Opposite 'disabled' Values On Startup

Aug 12, 2009

This has me completely stumped. I have a multiple select form element in my HTML document that needs to be manipulated by two different sets of context-sensitive controls. One set of controls is marked up as follows:

<div id="divControls1" name="divControls1" style="display:none">
<form id="fControls1" name="fControls1">
<input type="button" id="btnAdd" name="btnAdd" value="Add" onClick="addStuff();" />
<input type="button" id="btnEdit" name="btnEdit" value="Edit" onClick="editStuff();" disabled />
<input type="button" id="btnDelete" name="btnDelete" value="Delete" onClick="deleteStuff();" disabled />
</form>
</div>

When I load this page into Safari (on Mac OS X) and set the style of divControls1 to "display:block," I have an enabled "Add" button, a disabled "Edit" button, and a disabled "Delete" button, just as I expected. (I monitor selections in a multiple selection element to turn the buttons on and off.) But when I load this page into Firefox (also Mac OS X), all three buttons are disabled at startup. My page runs a function called startup() when the body fires onLoad. To try to troubleshoot the problem, I wrote this line at the beginning of the startup() function:

function startup() {
alert (document.getElementById("btnAdd").disabled);
...

When I run this code in Safari, the alert returns "false" (not disabled), just as I would expect, and intended. However, the same code in Firefox (Mac OS X) returns "true" (disabled) ... but the same code in Firefox (WinXP) returns "false"!

Onclick="alert('hello');return False;" Does Not Work In IE7?

Dec 5, 2006

Normally, a piece of code such as

<a href="http://www.yahoo.com" onclick="alert('hello');return
false;">link</a>

will stop the browser from actually going to href's destination.
However, this is not the case with the IE7 I am using. What has
changed?

IE7 version: 7.0.5730.11. Update versions: 0

Has anyone bumped into this problem before? How do I get around it?

JQuery :: Multiple Values In Rel Attribute Doesn't Work

Jul 4, 2010

I've got the following code (from this tutorial:[url]

thisItem = $(this).attr('rel');

Then I create HTML for navigation:

And it works perfect but only when I use single category for rel="". In this case rel="abc" works and rel="abc abc2" doesn't work.

There must be something with $('.pf_item li[rel!='+thisItem+']') but since I don't know jQuery I can't solve it myself. I just want to change this line into something that is able to work with multiple attributes in rel.

JQuery :: Checking Multiple Input Values Against Various Other Hidden Minimum Values

I have a list of products where they have minimum quantities in a hidden input. Some products have multiple colours, though the same minimum quantity and I'm trying to implement a jQuery check that entries made are at least equal to the minimum.

Blank or '0' entries are fine but if it's below the minimum quantity it should set to the minimum.

HTML:

Is there something obviously wrong with this? It isn't performing the minimum check and I'm really not sure why.

Ajax ::Submit Inputs Values Using Normal Button / How To Keep And Clear Values

Apr 15, 2010

In part of my form, I have 3 inputs (one textarea and two text inputs),I am validating their value format using AJAX (each input triggers error message on its label in case format is wrong). Also I have one button, "NOT submit button" (type = button).Now, when clicking on the button it must enter the value of those three inputs in my database in case they are true then all inputs values must be cleared. In case AJAX validation is wrong and in case the user clicked on that button, the value of fields must kept as it is.

Actually I can not use submit button because I have it for the whole form and what I am taking about is a part of the form and it's not possible to make nested forms as I know it violates html rules. It's easy to make it if I am taking about submitting button as I can view session values on fields after submission in case ajax returns error.I can clear inputs from Javascript, but it will be cleared on both cases if AJAX validation true or wrong. Each input field has AJAX Error message that will be triggered when the input format is wrong.

Stylized Text With Absolute Values Vs. Relative Values And Scalability On A Mac

Sep 19, 2005

I built my company's website and the content portion of the site uses
text with styles with relative values and the navigational part of the
site uses text with styles with absolute values. The purpose of this
was so that the end user could increase the size of the text on the
webpage and only the content portion of the page would scale or resize
but the navigation would not. This works as expected on a pc but the
entire page scales on a MAC. Does MAC not support text with styles the
same as pc so that the only scalable text is that with relative values
(ie: small, x-small, medium, large, etc)? Absolute values conist of
point sized text. Code:

AJAX :: Cross-browsing Request Work Around - Every Browser Doesn't Work ?

I have to check from my external domain if a service is running on localhost:8080 of a local machine.

I'm using XMLHttpRequest to do it.

I'm checking a local-web-server, not a file.

Every browser doesn't work, but Firefox. So I'm looking for a work-aorund.

An iframe? a flash swf? an applet java? HTA applications?

A side question is, why does FF work? Because it's a local-web-server?
