Number.toLongString() Method For Extremely Large Values
Feb 1, 2003
The standard Number.toString() method returns values in scientific notation once they exceed 10^20. In many cases, this is not an expected or desired result.
The toLongString() method provides a solution by always returning a literal numeric value regardless of the number's size. However, the value returned will not be accurate beyond the first [log base (radix) of (10^15)] digits.
radix: Optional. A number between 2 and 36, inclusive.Number.prototype.toLongString = function(){
var radix, n = this, d, t = '', p = ''
if(arguments.length>0 && typeof(arguments[0])=='number'){
radix = Math.round(arguments[0]);
if(radix<2) radix = 2;
if(radix>36) radix = 36;
} else {
radix = 10;
}
if(n < 0){
n *= -1;
p = '-'
}
while(n > radix){
d = n % radix;
n = (n-d)/radix;
t = d.toString(radix) + t;
}
return p + n.toString(radix) + t;
}

Basically, I've been asked to create a system where the page doesn't refresh when you go from page to page on a different site. That is, it's going to almost function like an iFrame. There will be a general template on the outside of the content, but the content itself will change when someone clicks on a link on a top banner. I've decided to use innerHTML to dynamically change the page content (I chose this instead of hiding layers because there are some large images/components in the content of the other pages, and I don't want them to all load on start up).
First off, if you think there's a better way to go than innerHTML, please briefly let me know, but this appears to be the way we're going. The contents of these pages are large, often with many elements. So it's not like I can just put some text in a javascript file and say "change to this text". Line breaks, etc. would mess it up. And I'd like to make changing the content as easy as possible for coders who come after me. So I don't want to make just one huge line of text/code that the javascript will replace.We have php and smarty in use. They also like to use the MVC system here (if that makes sense to you). So what I'm thinking of is something like creating the content for the other pages as their own pages. Something like:
<div-content>
text
<img src="blah.jpg" />
</div>
then using php curl or fetch to grab the page, strip the line breaks, etc., and insert it into the javascript (which doesn't allow for breaks written into the text directly). I can do this by having PHP create the javascript file, but that's a bit messy, and I'm not sure if it conforms to MVC. Might be the best option though.

I use a bunch of overlapping divs. They operate as pop ups i.e. user clicks button, calls function to show div, it also hides any other divs that might have been open previously i.e. only one div open at one time i.e sample code:
function pop1(){
MM_showHideLayers('pop1','','show','pop2','','hide','pop3','','hide','pop4','','hide','pop5','','hid e','pop6','','hide','pop7','','hide','pop8','','hide','pop9','','hide','pop10','','hide','pop11','',
[Code]....
Is there a way to hide a bunch of dics in one go
i.e. I thought that if I put the pop divs in another container i.e. another div, then told the container div to hide, then all the embeded divs will also be hidden. This did not seem to work

I have a element when click, it will trigger some other elements to be selected. and those elements will trigger elements in next level.
It is a three levels hierarchy so to speak. but each element will send an ajax request when selected. Those requests will become out of control especially when I repeatedly click the root element.
Can I queue those XHR request in a queue and send them one by one? or maybe add a delay before send so that they can collect their information into one batch request and send one request after that.

I am looking for a way to simplify a large series of object definitions in the form:
var Img0 ={init:function(){Img0.div = document.getElementById("img0"); Img1.init();}};
var Img1 ={init:function(){Img1.div = document.getElementById("img1"); Img2.init();}};
[Code]....
The program I have developed (for animated greeting cards) works fine but for a large number of images there are an equal number of these object definitions. I am aware of such techniques as using +i+ in place of the numbers 0, 1, 2, ... and assigning an increasing value to i in a loop. However, I do not see a way to use such a loop here.

My problem that I can't figure out is how to get rid of the number to the old task that I promoted. It's like its an empty string.[code]...

I'm having trouble using jQuery to find get select box values by element name. At the moment the code is in a for loop and it gets 8 different form values and puts it into an array. Currently this takes 1.5 seconds to execute which is far too slow as the user has to wait for it to finish. Here's the code which is inside the loop:
[Code]...
This when run executes instantly with no time delay. Why is the jQuery way so much slower? I'm all for saving 2 lines of code but not when it's 10x slower. Also I shouldn't need to put an id on the select box element to make finding it faster, the name value is already unique because I require the specific value once the form has been submitted.

We have a corporate product which uses ajax and different layers of soa , java etc across all browsers and multiple platforms But the observation is - IE8 is extremely slow when working with ajax framework. THe browser processing time increases exponentially with increasing js file size. Works fine in non IE browsers.

Just wondeing if there is a way to keep from having a certain
parameter sent when posting a form to another page (method=get)...
So as an example a page will post something like this from a form
using "get":
http://mypage?firstElement=1&secondElement=2
How can you completely remove "secondElement=2" from the
querystring... Before moving on to the posted page?
I know you can actually remove the element using removeChild in
javascript, and therefore it won't show up in the querystring of the
page posted to:
ochild.parentNode.removeChild(ochild);
But I was wondering if there was a way of doing it? A person can see
an inputbox for example disappear for a split second before the page
is posted... Is there a way of accessing the querystring itself in
javascript? Or some other way then removing the element?

I am having trouble finding a code example that uses javascript to get values from a form submitted on a previous page using the "POST" method. I've found some examples on how to parse the query string, but unfrotunately my form on the previous page has WAY too many charcters being submitted to be able to use the "GET" method (there is some upper limit here, I think it may be 255 or some number similar).
By the way this ONLY needs to work in IE, but it is better if it works in all browsers.

Working on creating my own plugin and realized that I would very likely end up doing this again in the future. Unfortunately, I have an extremely short memory when writing code. I frequently have to re-read the code I've created the day prior so I can get back on track with what I was doing. As such, I'm a fervent commenter in my code.
So, I'm creating a jQuery plugin framework with comments for everything that's going on in the framework to prevent my brain from having to re-learn everything in a month or so when I do another one.
Plugin-savvy folks to take a look at this code and help me fill in the blanks and make corrections to those places where I'm way off base. As you'll likely notice rather quickly, this is taken from the jQuery plugin tooltip construct found here: [url]

I have tried to search for the answer to this, but came up empty. I am writing a form checker (and submit) in jQuery, and am testing with Chrome. Once I do my validation, if all is ok, I simply submit the form using...
$("form#courseForm").submit();
and here is my form tag.
<form name="courseForm" id="courseForm" action="courseDetail.asp" method="post">
In IE it works fine with either POST or GET methods in the form tag, but in Chrome it will only work with GET.When I try to use POST, the form does submit, but I don't get any data sent to the page at all. The only thing I am doing different than usual, is the form does not have a submit button. I am using a "button" tag and using jQuery to capture the click event. <button type='button' name='courseSubmit' class='blueButton'>Save Changes</button> why the POST isn't sending the data in Chrome? Simple workaround is to change it to a GET and it will always work, but I see that as a bandaid fix, and not really a solution to the problem.

Code :

foo: { required:true, number:true, equal:25}

I want to send three text box values to server using jquery ajax. problem is that, i dont know the exact syntax to send three data. When i try sending one data(also change no.of parameters to one at server side method), its going good but when i try to send three text box values, its giving jquery error:"Internal server error". Below is the code:

I'm trying to do something, but I don't know if it's possible.
Basically, I want to have a public static class method that could
access a private object's method. I would like to be able to do :
Class.method(InstanceOfClass);
The method would then access a private function from Class by doing
something like
function method(param) {
param.privateMethodOfClass();
}
I've done a lot research and experimentations but just can't come up
with a solution... I don't even know if what I'm trying to do is
possible.

Why is the callwhy is the slice method only a method of an Array instance? The reason why I ask is because if you want to use it for the arguments property of function object, or a string, or an object, or a number instance, you are forced to use Array .prototype slice.call(). And by doing that, you can pass in any type of object instance (Array, Number, String, Object) into it. So why not just default it as a method of all object instances built into the language?In other words, instead of doing this:
function Core(){
var obj = {a : 'a', b : 'b'};
var num = 1;[code]....
//right now none of the above would work but it's more convenient than using the call alternative.
}
Core('dom','event','ajax');
Why did the designers of the javascript scripting language make this decision?
