I want to build a web form that will allow users to enter 3 different numbers and get a result. The answer is arrived at by the following. Enter 3 variable A, B, and C. Then A / B = D. Then C / D = the Answer.Is there a way to set that up as a single click script? Everything I have tried has failed hard.:mad:

I have a element when click, it will trigger some other elements to be selected. and those elements will trigger elements in next level.
It is a three levels hierarchy so to speak. but each element will send an ajax request when selected. Those requests will become out of control especially when I repeatedly click the root element.
Can I queue those XHR request in a queue and send them one by one? or maybe add a delay before send so that they can collect their information into one batch request and send one request after that.

I use a bunch of overlapping divs. They operate as pop ups i.e. user clicks button, calls function to show div, it also hides any other divs that might have been open previously i.e. only one div open at one time i.e sample code:
function pop1(){
MM_showHideLayers('pop1','','show','pop2','','hide','pop3','','hide','pop4','','hide','pop5','','hid e','pop6','','hide','pop7','','hide','pop8','','hide','pop9','','hide','pop10','','hide','pop11','',
[Code]....
Is there a way to hide a bunch of dics in one go
i.e. I thought that if I put the pop divs in another container i.e. another div, then told the container div to hide, then all the embeded divs will also be hidden. This did not seem to work

I am looking for a way to simplify a large series of object definitions in the form:
var Img0 ={init:function(){Img0.div = document.getElementById("img0"); Img1.init();}};
var Img1 ={init:function(){Img1.div = document.getElementById("img1"); Img2.init();}};
[Code]....
The program I have developed (for animated greeting cards) works fine but for a large number of images there are an equal number of these object definitions. I am aware of such techniques as using +i+ in place of the numbers 0, 1, 2, ... and assigning an increasing value to i in a loop. However, I do not see a way to use such a loop here.

The standard Number.toString() method returns values in scientific notation once they exceed 10^20. In many cases, this is not an expected or desired result.
The toLongString() method provides a solution by always returning a literal numeric value regardless of the number's size. However, the value returned will not be accurate beyond the first [log base (radix) of (10^15)] digits.
radix: Optional. A number between 2 and 36, inclusive.Number.prototype.toLongString = function(){
var radix, n = this, d, t = '', p = ''
if(arguments.length>0 && typeof(arguments[0])=='number'){
radix = Math.round(arguments[0]);
if(radix<2) radix = 2;
if(radix>36) radix = 36;
} else {
radix = 10;
}
if(n < 0){
n *= -1;
p = '-'
}
while(n > radix){
d = n % radix;
n = (n-d)/radix;
t = d.toString(radix) + t;
}
return p + n.toString(radix) + t;
}

I have been using Ajax to send data to php scripts and I would like to send text data from a textarea of a form. Normally I send data to the script with the following code...
How can I send larger amounts of data to the php script? Can the url contain 750 characters? I think the limit is 255 characters.

I am trying to work out if this is possible: I have some html/text that I want to break apart into different elements (div tags), only one div tag should be visible/shown and at the bottom of the element are the number of "pages" (01/02/03/04...), each of these "pages" is actually just the next div element, the user can click on the "page number" so they can move to the next element (hidden initially) by using javascript to change which element should be displayed. Clicking on the the "page" will bring up that particular chunk of text. The div element is a specific size (width and height), and thats why only a certain amount of text can fit into it. These elements will be created dynamically from a database.
Right now I can do this by either manually forcing the user to break the text apart themselves by entering the text/html using multiple WYSIWYG editor text areas and giving them a rough amount of characters they can use and/or only allowing a certain amount of characters per textarea....Another alternative I thought of was to use php cut up the text into pieces and place them into divs by counting the number of characters based on the which font is theoretically being employed (I have a javascript script to detect if a particular font is available - how reliable it is I have yet to determine). But I was hoping that there was a solution in javascript to automatically detect when the text overflows and generate/change the number of divs, split the html/text up into the correct number of pieces and RE-generate the internal div page numbers (01/02/03/04...).
I guess there a number of problems with this idea that may stop it from being practical, such as which browser is being used, which font is being used and how the user has their text size set on their browser window... and probably other things I am not thinking of. I was hoping that by detecting if the text overflowed something could be done, but perhaps it is too complicated? Is there something out there that can do this? Is it possible? Perhaps too there are other solutions to the problem, either ones that are already out there or one that has to be built from scratch? I guess in the end my question is, is there a cleaner way of breaking the text apart in javascript by using overflow or something similar than doing it by counting characters with a server-side language?

See these demos here [URL]. I want to do the same thing (red on error and removes red upon correct entry) but only with one simple input (a spam question). All that jquery for one little thing seems def overkill. Anyone have a custom little script lying around or know of a example?

I've got a bunch of <div> blocks, with a fixed width and height, that are all left floated.I would like a user to be able to click a "remove" link and have it delete a box, and all the boxes to the right "slide in" to fill the void created.I have it working well enough with a "snap" transition. I made that term up because I'm not sure how else to describe it--by "snap" transition I mean that the boxes to the right "snap" into position--there's no "sliding" or easing as they move, it's just moment their in their old positions, and the next moment, everything has been rearranged and they're in their new positions. how to adequately describe it in text, so here's a video showing what I mean: [URL]

I have successfully installed the datepicker jQuery plugin...works great. Here is what I am trying to do, and have not been able to figure it out. I would like our clients to be able to select any date that is past the current date, BUT, if the selected date is within 72 hours, I would like a popup javascript alert with a custom message.
i.e. Today is 7/30/2010...Bob selects 8/1/2010 from the calendar. It returns the date in a MM/DD/YYYY format to the form...and an alert pops up letting Bob now that availability may not beguaranteed.
Update: I have been playing with the code a bit....One way I am attempting to create this is by setting the 'defaultDate' to +3d and trying to create an IF statement that will alert if the selectedDate is smaller than defaultDate.

A plug-in that shows only a part of the image and not the whole image.
To be clear, I don't need resizing, just sectional viewing.
I have large images of map/newspaper, but I only want to center to a position and show a part of the image, how can I do that.
I have looked at a couple of the pop-up plug-ins and they don't do that. Also, I don't need pop up functionality.
For e.g. only show a specific part of map, or a newspaper.

I'd like to process several blocks of parallel actions, but in a sequential manner.
As an example:
Thus, I want to process blocks, from which I don't know how long they will take and afterwards have a couple of actions, before beginning with another block. I already tried it through using .queue, .ready() etc, but that leads to very ugly or unusable code..

I'm trying to understand how jQuery works, so I wanted to create something in order to learn a little bit ;-) here's the case:
I want to create a box with a text in german. Above the text, there are buttons in order to change the language. So, by clicking on "French", the german text disappears and is replaced by the french one. So, I created the buttons and the DIV-Blocks.
The question is, which function I should use with jQuery in order to achieve my goal (?) show / hide ? replace? First, I should show only one DIV, and hide all these others, no?

How to determine how a absoluted positioned element was positioned?
For example, a div positioned with bottom: 10px, will have a "top" read in Firefox. But if using "top" to move the box, instead of moving it, it will grow or shrink.

I've got a quick and little jQuery script set up so that when I hover over a div (#meatHome), a smaller div with a play button pops up (#playVideo). When you hit play, a div with a youtube embed comes up and plays (#promoVideo). Everything works, save for the fact that once the video comes up, I don't want the play button to come up anymore when I hover over it.
Here's the code:
When the play button is pressed, show the video player
Now, I have also tried using this for the function on lines 15 thru 18.
Which succesfully hides the #playVideo div permanently but fails to show the video div. If I swap out ($("#promoVideo")) with a simple string of text, it appears to work just fine. Can anybody shed some light on my plight?
If you need the html code, here it is as well.

I don't know if it's appropriate to discuss a JS library here, but I'm wanting to use jQuery to toggle the display of content based on a selected radio button. Here's an example HTML
Code:
<label><input type="radio" name="toggler" value="block01" />Show block 1</label>
<label><input type="radio" name="toggler" value="block02" />Show block 2</label>
<label><input type="radio" name="toggler" value="block03" />Show block 3</label>
<div id="block01>This is block 1</div>
<div id="block02>This is block 2</div>
<div id="block03>This is block 3</div>
Obviously the idea is that only one block is displayed at a time. I'm happy to get the effect anyway possible, but I do want to use jQuery because I believe it will be easier in the long run.
What I don't know how to do is to use the value of a selected radio option to show a block with the same ID as the value. I'm also not sure if I'm correctly select a name when I use $("[name='toggler']").
EDIT: Actually, I don't seem to be able to select the radio buttons using any other method than $("input"). Even if I give each input the same class I can't select it using $(".toggler").
