I am having trouble creating two slideshows on a single page. I know that there is a problem of one slideshow overriding the other, but I can't figure out what to change or where in order to make both functional. I've seen other posts related to this, but those I've tried don't work for me. Here's my partial code...I only included the parts I think are necessary.
<script language="JavaScript1.1">
var slideimages=new Array()
var slidelinks=new Array()
function slideshowimages(){
for (i=0;i<slideshowimages.arguments.length;i++){
slideimages[i]=new Image()
slideimages[i].src=slideshowimages.arguments[i]
} } .....

I'm a javascript rookie trying to figure out a way to get bookmarkable URLS for the images on a single page with multiple slideshows. I must admit I don't really understand the first part of the code on the Cycle demo page for this, which only works for a page with one slideshow:
While I'm shopping for a little guidance, it would also be really cool if the hash tags were semantic somehow with respect to each slideshow e.g.:
[url]

I am pretty new to JavaScript, so I apologize if this is a stupid mistake. I am using this [URL] code, but trying to have several slideshows on the page. I have set up two to test it, and one works while the other just displays a static image. What is the best way to do this? Do I need to repeat the script code in the head?

I am having trouble with my MooTools Slideshow. I have a page with 4 Spry tabs and 3 of them have slideshows. I've set up the page for multiple slideshows, but only the first tab works correctly.
These are 2 issues I'm having:
1. The thumbnails work properly for the first tab, but for the other tabs they seem to stack upon one another and flutter when you mouseover.
2. When you switch to a different tab, you get a smaller photo artifact for a couple of seconds in the right corner of the slideshow screen (I have a feeling this will go away when #1 is resolved).
Here is where the website can be viewed: [url]
I was these 2 bits of help from another forum:
The issue is probably that slideshow can't calculate dimensions properly when it is hidden. It's really a general issue with javascript/DOM-manipulation: when an element is set as display:none - like the hidden tabs - nodes inside of them have no height/width. The workaround would be to initialize each slideshow once the tab is visible.
Do not initiate all slideshows at once, initiate them when the tab comes into focus, destroy them/pause them when a tab loses focus. I don't know how to initiate the slideshow on tab focus.

I'm trying to set up a blog, which uses a slideshow within each post, using the jQuery Cycle plugin.
Is there a way of creating separate slide shows for each, using a single class (.post-slideshow-images) - and also have the next and prev links on each, and a caption? Let's say there are 5 instances of slideshows with the class.post-slideshow-images.I've tried the below, but the next and prev links, and the caption are linked between each slideshow (clicking next on one, for instance, controls every instance on the page, and the caption for every slideshow also updates)
$(document).ready(function(){
$('.post-slideshow-images').cycle({fx: 'scrollLeft',timeout: 0,next: '.next',prev: '.prev',

I've used the fantastic Cycle plugin on a couple of projects now, and it's worked really well.
I have four elements that use cycle, and I've used the timeout and delay options to have one box after another flip repeatedly.
This works well, so the first slide flips after 1 second, the second after 2 and so on, and then each slide continues to flip in turn.
Unfortunately, when I move to another browser tab or another window, then move back, returning focus to the window with the flip elements, the timing seems to go wrong. Each slide continues flipping, but they're no longer flipping one at a time.
My code runs as follows:
I'd like to see each one continue flipping in turn when I go back to the first tab.

var step=1
function slideit(){
//if browser does not support the image object, exit.
if (!document.images)
return
document.images.slide.src=eval("image"+step+".src")
if (step<3)

I am new to Javascript, but am trying to work with a bit of script I found online to create a crossfade slideshow for my page. The problem I am having is that I want to have several slideshows on my page. On it's own, a single slideshow works fine but when I add a second (and do my best to hack the code with my limited knowledge) only one slideshow will work, or sometimes neither. I found the article from this site that explained about event conflict, but the example used looked quite a bit different to mine.
Here is the js file I started with
window.addEventListener?window.addEventListener('load',so_init,false):window.attachEvent('onload',so _init);
var d=document, imgs = new Array(), zInterval = null, current=0, pause=false;
function so_init()
{
if(!d.getElementById || !d.createElement)return; .....
This uses a couple of CSS files and then you just add a div=rotator on the html to add the object and then the images and links within that div.

I am looking for a multiple countup or age timer within a html page (using javascript). I want to display below each child picture the age clock/counter of the child. I do not know javascript well (I recognize some code) and know a little of html. I have searched on internet and nothing seems to get close to the below functionality. There are plenty of countup counters etc, but mostly count days, and those that do count age are single use only. Below is some code my friend found. That code works for one person/age only and includes weeks. The thing is that I want one page with all the children listed.
Example of Expected Outcome:
Picture John born in Thailand
John is 10 years, 03 months, 16 days, 12 hours, 14 minutes, 03 seconds old.
Picture Mary born in Florida, USA
Mary is 08 months, 12 days, 14 hours, 02 minutes, 53 seconds old.
Picture Chris born in Melbourne, Australia
Chris is 04 years, 02 months, 03 days, 01 hours, 06 minutes, 12 seconds old.
Picture Lindy born in The Netherlands
Lindy is 03 years, 11 months, 24 days, 23 hours, 44 minutes, 23 seconds old.
And the clocks keep ticking and counting up. Please note that since Mary is less than a year old, the 0 year value does not show. I also would like the possibility to consider the time differences between the places they were born and the time zone the web page viewer is in. Is that possible? Or maybe I have to recalculate their GMT (Greenwhich time zone) birth time for that to work, or maybe the time zone of the server? How can we make that accurate?
The hours, minutes, and seconds, would be great, but is of course optional. The code below also shows weeks, which is up to you to use or not. Maybe the script can allow you to choose which values to show? I would like this for at least four children, but the possibility to add more later by copying some code would be great. This is not an online form, so all time/date of birth details can be set in the script.
Here is the script I found:
<!-- Copy and Paste into HEAD of HTML-->
<SCRIPT type="text/javascript" language="JavaScript">
function ElapsedTime(inFromDate,inToDate) {
var inFromDate = (arguments.length == 0) ? new Date() : arguments[0];
var inToDate = (arguments.length == 1) ? new Date() : arguments[1];
// if (arguments.length == 0) var inFromDate = new Date(); // IE4 has a bug in constructors,
// if (arguments.length == 1) var inToDate = new Date(); // so use above method.
var fromDate = new Date(inFromDate);
var toDate = new Date(inToDate); .....

I have about 10 JQuery Books and they all talk about using Ajax(JQuery Load function) to insert either an HTML page or fragments of an HTML page into another page.
However, amazingly none of these books mentioned getting multiple items using the same function(document.ready).
Here is what I mean. I have a document.ready function which I use to get specific content from a page. However, to get additional items, I need to set up additional document.ready function.
So if I was retrieving 3 sets of content from a page, I will set up my script like this:
Code:
And the HTML
Code:
Is there a leaner better way to do this? Again all the books tells you how to grab a content, which I have done but do I have to create a new function for each item?

On the page I am designing I have 2 js slideshows. The first one slides images right to left and the second contains the caption for the image and fades in and out. I've got 4 parallel slideshows (see below) that each contain 3 images. I would like the slideshow 1 to fade first, then slideshow 3, then 2, then 4. I have no problem with making all 4 slideshows work at the same time but I can't make them alternate. I've been trying to use "after:" as a callback to trigger the next slideshow but every time I put in some more code the whole thing stops working !!
Code :
<script type="text/javascript">
<!-- $(document).ready(
function() {
$('.slideshow')
.cycle({fx: 'fade',timeout: 5000})
.cycle('stop');});
// I was trying to call this function after starting #slide-1 but I gave up !!
function nextImage1() {
$('#slide-1').cycle({fx: 'fade',timeout: 5000,after: nextImage3 });
}
-->
</script>
<div id="diaporama">
<div id="slide-1" class="slideshow">
<img src="images/diapo_1_1.jpg" width="240" height="171" />
