Move Focus At The End Of Text In <div>?
Oct 14, 2009I am having some text in the <div> like
<div id="rxchgeditablediv" tabindex="112" <%=rxChange.getStringValue(RxChgFieldKeys.RXS_DIRECTIONS)%></div>
And i required to put focus at the end of the text in this div.
e.q if div contains text as My Name in Sam.
And i am using document.getElementById("rxchgeditablediv").focus();
The focus for the mentioned e.g it coming before "My" but my requirement is to put the focus at end means after "Sam"
Focus On Field - IPad Browser Blocking The Focus
Aug 18, 2010I'm currently making a web application which needs to be fully compatible with iPad. The functions I've implemented so far work perfectly on Firefox, Internet Explorer and other browsers. However, the iPad itself responds a bit different. After a certain action, I want to put focus on a textfield with the help of Javascript. Again, this works perfectly with the normal browser, the iPad browser however seems to be blocking the focus. The reason I'm not posting any code is because it's basically irrelevant. All I do is:

Cannot Move Focus To Control - Not Enabled
Jun 4, 2010The following function() works fine on Chrome and Firefox but Internet F*C*I*G Explorer is showing a warning: Can't move focus to the control because it is invisible, not enabled, or of a type that does not accept the focus. This function only load a few data into a SELECT, just that.

Set Focus Onclclick And Move Page To Bottom?
Apr 7, 2010I have a roll-over image at the top of one of my web pages, I want it that when you click on it, the page moves to the bottom and sets focus in the first text-field in the first form. Its a contact button, with the first field being name, I've tried for like 3 hours solid and getting very fed up.

Sep 15, 2011I have a javascript program that uses a HTML table as an Excel-like grid. The user can use arrow keys to navigation the grid. When the user selects a cell and then hits <Enter> key, the program turns the cell from read-only to editable (an input box), and select all the text in the input box. When the user hits <Esc>, the program cancels the changes that the user has made and turns the cell back to read-only. So far so good. The problem is that as soon as the user hits <Esc> key and turns the cell back to read-only, I find that I cannot move the input focus back to the cell any more. Actually I cannot move the input focus back to _any_ cell in the table. When this happens, the user cannot use arrow keys to navigate the grid any more (like the grid has lost the input focus). The user needs to use the mouse to click at a cell in the table to get things working again.
The user can get around with this problem by un-selecting the text from the input-box before hitting <Esc>. But this is not something that I expect the user to remember to do. I need a way to fix this problem. I tried the logical thing and programmatically un-select the text before turning the cell back to read-only. But this actually made thing worse - this causes the workaround to stop working.
The only browsers that I have tested this program is IE6 and IE8. I have not tested this in any other browser.
Attached is a simplified version of the program that can show this problem in action. This simplified program first adds an empty table on the web page, and then creates an instance of the CEstGrid class that takes care of the grid. CEstGrid will add two rows of test data into the table with two columns in each row. The user should use a mouse to click at one of the cell, and the cell should be highlighted. The user uses arrow keys to navigate the table. When he reaches the end of the table, he will wrap around to the other side of the table. Let say the user reaches the cell in row-1 column-2, he hits <Enter> to change the cell to editable. He will find the text in that cell to be highlighted. When he hits <Esc> at this moment, he will find that he cannot use the arrow keys to navigate the table any more, and this is the problem. Please rename the test program from .TXT to .HTML to test it.

Field Focus
Mar 20, 2007I have a script that runs when the page is loaded to set focus to a field. If I have an alert immediately before I call focus() on the field everything is good. If the alert isn't there, the cursor never shows up in the field...however, it scrolls to the textbox and if I hit tab I move to the field immediately following it which would indicate I really do have focus on the field, yet the cursor isn't there so I can't start typing in the field. I thought it might be an issue with the page not being fully loaded but if that is the case why does it scroll down to the field and move to the next field after hitting tab. This is a hard one to explain and what complicates it more is that it's in an AJAX responseText environment so it's hard to nail down. Any ideas on this?
