Macromedia's Css Dynamic Repositioning Does Not Work In Netscape
Jul 23, 2005
Does anybody understand why the technique described in
http://www.macromedia.com/devnet/se...ositioning.html
doesnt work in Netscape 6/7 and Mozilla? I tried it out but to no
avail. I am certainly not a (javascript) programmer / DOM expert but
it seems to me it should work .
I am working on implementing this script to shopping cart. Basically, it copies fill the shipping address from billing automatically. I believe one or more syntax is not netscape compatible. Can anyone point out which one it is and how to make it both netscape and MS browser compatible?
I hope if I can make the script compatible for those two at extreme, it will probably work with most browser out there. As you would notice, this form also calls another fundtion already implemented in the shopping cart. But that function itself works on both browser. Code:
<HTML><SCRIPT LANGUAGE="JScript"> function mouseclick() { alert("I was clicked on " + window.event.srcElement.tagName); } </SCRIPT> <BODY <H1>Welcome!</H1> <P>This is a very <B>short</B> document.
</BODY> </HTML>
The above script works fine in IE But not in Netscape 7.2 :((
In the following HTML code, when I change the value of one text field then click "Modify" button, if the validation fails a message will popup and the cotent of the form should NOT be submitted. (The actual code connects to the database at the backend so I can check if the value is submmited).
It works well in IE6.0 and Netscape 4.75.
But in Netscape 7.1, if the validation fails, the message pop up but the form submit still go through. In another word, the return from JS function inRangeInteger(), which is triggered by onChange event of the text field, is ignored when the form submit. Code:
My JavaScript Form Validation doesn't work at all in Netscape, but it works fine in IE.
I made some of the suggested changes which enabled it to work in IE. I couldn't make all the changes because then it didn't work in IE.
How can I enable this javascipt form validation to work in Netscape? When I use netscape, none of the alert boxes appear. It submits the form without validating anything.
In IE, I get all the alert boxes and everything is validated.
I have three DIVs that are stacked vertically. Each section (div) I want to be able to 'collapse' or minimize, and when that happens, for instance when the first div is 'minimized' the second two divs shift their left/top positions to fill the space. Right now, I'm doing this automatically, by creating a javascript function and changing the top/left and "height" properties manually.
in the parent window, i have some objects that will release a pop-up window. in the pop-up window you can make various changes that will affect the database. to see those changes in the parent window, i need to refresh...right?
well, when i refresh...if you're working at the bottom of the page it pops the scrollbars all the way back up to the top. is there a way to reposition the scrollbars without the use of anchors?
I can successfully force submission of a <form> using "document.formname.submit()". But, the submission doesn't appear to occur when used with Netscape. Anybody know why this is happening, and what I can do to get around this?
I'm having some trouble with absolute positioning:
I have a main div, with some nested divs inside, one of which is "position:absolute". When a user hits a button, a message will appear at the top of the div (by using "myDiv.style.visibility = 'block'"), which pushes all other sections, relative or absolute, down appropriately. This is what i want.
However when the message div is clear (using "myDiv.style.visibility = 'none'"), all the relative divs go back to their original position, but the absolute div stays at its pushed down position.
ive tried several complicated schemes to correct this, including setting the absolute sections top to certain values, and it doesn't want to move back.
Does anyone know a solution to this problem, or of a way to "refresh" a divs position?
After a javascript-generated post event (this is a post, not ajax messaging) the current screen has to be redrawn. But on *long forms* (longer than a single screen) then the current screen positioning is lost, and the current form ends up redrawn, with a different vertical positioning--after the post event.
However, If I sent the x,y mouse position as post parameters, and if the current widget (that generated the post) had a well-known anchor tag name, would there be a way to combine that much information, after the post, in order to redraw the form close to it's original vertical positioning?
I need some help on how to reposition a layer depending on the position of an image? I know this should be somewhere in the forum, but I searched without success.
I use $().load() to place an HTML snippet from the server into a dialog box which i then need to position relative to the size of the element which has just had the HTML loaded into it. When the main HTML page DOM is ready, I hide() the dialog box, and then use fadeIn() to show with various click() events. I have managed to position the dialog box in the centre of the screen given that there is no content loaded.
However, it seems that when I load the new content into the dialog box the new dimensions aren't taken into account untill the next time load() is called.
Is there a way to get the new dimensions of the element before the dialog is shown in order to position it centre screen?
Here is my code:
function showDialogBox(sender) { var width = $(document).width(); var height = $(document).height();
it's possible to bind a function to an element that is fired if that element is 'moved'/repositioned via the browser.
For a more specific example what I have is a function that calculates height and width of certain elements to allow them to all fit nicely on the page without having scroll bars, and this is bound to the window onresize event. It works nicely most of the time but occasionally something will change the height of one of the elements and this effectively bumps one element right off the page.
So I'm wondering if its possible to have an event bound to an element that is fired when an elements position is moved/recalculated by the browser? Short of polling every second or so, to see if it has moved/recalculate layout.
I cant get to know how can i make a dynamic box work with sql!i found this code online which takes in the values from database and puts it in combo box one,once a field in combo box one is selected the related field will be displayed in combo box two.its like country and state combo box but from sql database. it does not load from database the field for combo box one.
I have a Javascript function that dynamically creates a box withocument.getElementById('lightbox').innerHTML. In the box will be among other things a div with id="div1" and visibility="hidden" and a form which, onSubmit, calls the function myFunction.Code:The function basically looks like
function myFunction() { document.getElementById('div1').style.visibility = 'visible'; }
i have a javascript function to highlight google search keywords in the page. it works well on IE and mozilla browsers. for the page OnLoad, i call the Highlight() method, and that highlights the words in the page, and inserts a div element with the message: "your search terms have been highlighted..." and a link to remove the highlighting, which has href='javascript:removeHighlight(..)', but that only works in IE, not firefox 1.0. Code:
the unobtrusive dynamic select boxes are working great.I just wonder if its possible make this script into 2 dynamic select boxes.Like make this script work with 2 dynamic selex boxed, I did try to enter a 3rd ID but dident get it to work.
PHP Code:
/* This script and many more are available free online at The JavaScript Source!! http://javascript.internet.com Created by: Bobby van der Sluis | http://www.bobbyvandersluis.com/ */[coe].....
if its any other javascripts out thats allready made and can do it?Right now the 3rd select box works like it isent dynamic.
how to populate a dropdown based on Another dropdown selection. This all should be a dynamic. Eg: I have two text boxes one is TechID and other is JOB ID. When I start typing Tech ID it suggests me the list of IDs which start with the input string i have put in Tech textbox. When i select the Tech ID the jobs associated to that Tech ID should be displayed in JOB ID text box as a dropdown list.
I am having a problem with the last results. I can't seem to be able to get the input2A and input3A to appear. I don't seem to have a problem with the show and hide after a number is entered and submitted. If anyone can answer my problem I will be greatly appreciated with a prize. I actually have submitted it more than once and I haven't had anyone been able to answer it yet. Code:
I am creating a site that will use a Client-Side Include (CSI) to dynamically generate an ad banner to be placed on the right hand side of the page. It loads great in IE5 and above and Netscape 7 and even loads fine in Netscape 4.7. The problem is when the user resizes the window, the ad banner that was generated is then placed at the bottom of the page. I even look at the HTML of that particular page and the CSI is thrown into the bottom portion of the site. I am perplexed as to how it just throws it down AND knows where in the HTML code to insert itself.
If anyone has any ideas on how to stop this snippet of code placing itself anywhere in the site, I would appreciate any help. Again, it LOADs fine but when the user decides to re-size the window, it just moves it down to the bottom of the site.
I've got a trouble with my script, i want to show a <div> on Netscape and it doesn't work: Here is the script
//navigators identification
var ie4=(document.all && !document.getElementById)? true:false var ie5=(document.all && document.getElementById)? true:false var n4=(document.layers)? true:false var n6=(!document.all && document.getElementById)? true:false
