I have created a site and on one page it uses 2 divs side by side to display text information. in the left hand div it contains 8 links. these links when clicked load up text stored in separate text files and display it in the right hand div.The code below was working when i ran it from my mac but when i try to load it off the webhost it fails to execute.

the jquery successfully sends the variable to the php file the problem is once i insert it into a database all the variables i sent are concatenated for example in the column stud_no once you send the form this is what will be inserted "123123name=asdasd"

I need to fo a form and the content be sent to a database but i'm stuck...I knwo hot to do forms and also how to send data to mysql using php.But now i need something a bit more complex and i'm stuck.I need to make a form lets say with "parent name, age, child name, child age"Some people has 1 child some people has 2 3 4...and i need to have it separated and not just write like "joe, bob, jack" in the same line.How can i do this?And how should the database be structured? i can't put "id, parent, age, c_name, c_age" because some ppl will need to have more than 1 child in the database.
View 5 Replies View RelatedI have a simple AJAX chat room and it's taking too much local bandwidth when it downloads. What I want to do is call a page with AJAX that checks for new entries in the database and sends a response if there are new ones. But if there's nothing new it just doesn't respond. That way a user won't have to download a response with no new material. Is this okay to do? Am I correct in assuming this will have a positive affect on bandwidth?
View 8 Replies View RelatedI too have a problem with Ajax POST method and Send. I have set up a Site Search using the Google Ajax Search API, and it works fine. The search term is stored in the variable (?) query. Just to make sure, I have set up a new variable (searchTerm) to read the value of query, and a temporary Alert box shows that this variable does indeed contain the search term.
I want to store the search terms in a database so I can see what people are searching for. So I set up a POST method to send the searchTerm to a php file, which uses if (isset($_POST['searchTerm'])) to obtain the searchTerm and then insert it into a MYSQL database. But it doesn't work.
When I couldn't insert into the database, I added a second (temporary) insert using a dummy value as the else part of the above if statement, to test (1) if the Ajax file was actually setting the php file going, and (2) to check my Insert code was working. Both work.
So the problem is clearly that either the Ajax code doesn't Send correctly, or the php isn't receiving it. I am stumped to find what is wrong. Here are the two relevant sections of code:

View 4 Replies View RelatedI've built a website and have used JQuery for the 1st time. Everything works fine in Firefox and Safari but IE is really giving me a headache now! The site can be seen HERE When you roll over the main links a sub menu rolls out, when you roll over the next main link the sub menu in view scrolls back in and the one associated with the new link scrolls out - please view in either FF or Safari to see it working.
In IE the functionality of the menus just doesn't cut it??? the 1st two (Company and Services) seem to work as expected when you roll back and forth over them, but the last 2 (Portfolio and Contact) are really flakey??? They stay scrolled out when they should be scrolling back in, although sometimes they do actually scroll in, and on the last one (Contact) only one of the two links in the sub menu appears and then its not clickable????? Again please conpare between FF and IE to see what i mean.
Can anyone offer me some advice on solving this, i'm looking to get the IE version to work just as well as i have it in FF. Unfortunately I don't have any experience with javascript / jquery to fall back on so i'm just hitting my head against a brick wall at the moment.

B - The style is somewhat a little off. Because all these DIVs are next to each other (I've tested a few manually) they should all be in one GROUP of checkboxes, but with my current code - its like each one is an individual button. So the CSS isn't getting applied completely correctly.

I use this library for almost all my slideshows, and have not had a problem up until now. I know the JS files being referenced are correct, the image paths are correct, so what seems to be the hiccup here? I am willing to bet its something simple.

I am trying place an AP DIV which floats above a jquery cycle plugin slideshow. It uses transparency so you can see the images through the Div box percentage colour.

I have a CMS that was built for our company website that relies on some JS to upload media through a regular browser directly to be displayed on our site. There is a button one clicks to upload video. When clicked the file browser on your computer is supposed to pop-up so you can choose the media you would like to upload.This button no longer is responsive on any of my 12 mac desktops in any common browser nor my mac laptop which is on a different OS X version.

I have content coming in from an Ajax request. There are internal js variables being set on the page that don't seem to be registering. As a matter of fact, as a test, I can't even get an alert box to fire up.Though, when I run the page directly the alert triggers fine.
