Is it possible to use enable different transition effects for auto- advance versus the pager (that is, when a user clicks a pager item)? I'd like very much to use "fade" as images auto-advance without user input, but use a more advanced easing effect if the user clicks an item in the pager.
View 1 Replies View RelatedI use this library for almost all my slideshows, and have not had a problem up until now. I know the JS files being referenced are correct, the image paths are correct, so what seems to be the hiccup here? I am willing to bet its something simple.
http:[url]....how the three images just stack now, with the jquery cycle plug-in they are supposed to fade.
Somebody asked me if it would be possible to add auto-advance to a web
form where there are a lot of repetitive 5 character fields. I took a
look around the web and found a script, which appears to work in the
couple of browsers I tried it in. However, when I look at the script it
appears to have the wrong number of brackets. Then when I changed the
script to the way I thought it should be, it still worked!
I'm totally rusty on javascript. I think I remember that you're allowed
to omit brackets when you only have 1 line following the if (or while,
or whatever).
A couple of questions:
Are the brackets in the original script below wrong or am I missing
something?
Can anyone recommend a different auto-advance script?
Or, is auto-advancing a bad idea all around from a usability/accessibility point of view?....
I have created a site and on one page it uses 2 divs side by side to display text information. in the left hand div it contains 8 links. these links when clicked load up text stored in separate text files and display it in the right hand div.The code below was working when i ran it from my mac but when i try to load it off the webhost it fails to execute.

I am trying to get a javascript slideshow to work on my site. It is actually a jQuery one, but I thought I would throw this in the regular javascript forum. Right now I have 4 PNG's that are fading in and out. Everything works great in FF, but doesn't work right in IE 7 & 8. The PNG's have transparency on them and currently show a black border around 3 of them. It doesn't have this border on the first element in the slideshow. make this black border go away. It can be see at [URL]

There are only two sample slides here. Click the play button to advance to Slide 2 (end of show). On Slide 2, it does not advance automatically. However, click the play button again (back to Slide 1, beginning of show).At this point, it automatically advances to Slide 2. Can someone please tell me how to get the slides to advance OnClick only?
I'm not a complete Javascript idiot but I am new to Jquery and not used to the way it's written so I'm having a little trouble figuring out how to do what I need to do. I'm working with the jquery slideshow called "spacegallery". Here's a link:[URL].. As you can see, when you click on the front image, it triggers the animation to the next slide. I'd like to set this up on a timer so it'll happen automatically.
Here's a link to the JS file doing the actual work:[URL].. The key function is "next", which starts at line 57. This function is "bound" to each individual image - I think, or maybe to the image container as a whole - at line 118.
I tried using setTimeout (line 191) to trigger "next", but it complains that "el is undefined". I think this is because "next" is expecting a parent node that was clicked - an image element or something like that.
So I think I need to figure out how to pass the current/front-most image element in my setTimeout call of "next". But I can't figure out how to get a handle on that element - doesn't seem to be an obvious array of image elements I can grab, or a current element counter.
Perhaps another approach would be to actually "click" the current main image element somehow in Javascript, so the code registers a click? Not sure if that can be done - can it?
I found this script that uses Prototype and Scriptaculous to display imagesCan someone tell me if I'm able to set this so it automatically slides between images using the [sliderright] function effect.

View 4 Replies View RelatedI've built a website and have used JQuery for the 1st time. Everything works fine in Firefox and Safari but IE is really giving me a headache now! The site can be seen HERE When you roll over the main links a sub menu rolls out, when you roll over the next main link the sub menu in view scrolls back in and the one associated with the new link scrolls out - please view in either FF or Safari to see it working.
In IE the functionality of the menus just doesn't cut it??? the 1st two (Company and Services) seem to work as expected when you roll back and forth over them, but the last 2 (Portfolio and Contact) are really flakey??? They stay scrolled out when they should be scrolling back in, although sometimes they do actually scroll in, and on the last one (Contact) only one of the two links in the sub menu appears and then its not clickable????? Again please conpare between FF and IE to see what i mean.
Can anyone offer me some advice on solving this, i'm looking to get the IE version to work just as well as i have it in FF. Unfortunately I don't have any experience with javascript / jquery to fall back on so i'm just hitting my head against a brick wall at the moment.

I'm using javascript to create timers that will start a count down after the page is loaded. I need to do the calculation of seconds for the timers in php on the page that calls this page with the javascript. I then pass the seconds when I write the javascript using php. Here I'm just showing the javascript with the seconds hard-coded for each timer. I've tried testing this as is (with the javascript hard-coded just as shown here), but all it will do is display the starting point for each timer but won't advance beyond that. It is supposed to show the timers counting down each second.
Code:
<script type='text/javascript'>
function GetCount(secondsPassed, iid){
amount = secondsPassed;
if(amount < 0){
document.getElementById(iid).innerHTML='Now!';

So Im trying to create a slideshow with thumbnails the user can scroll through and use to navigate the slideshow. I'm a big fan of cycle so I wanted to use that as my main slideshow component and was planning on using jcarousel for the pager. So far it works great in Firefox, Chrome, and Safari, yet in IE the thumbnails are not loading. I'm guessing it has something to do with how the images in the pager are generated and then jcarousel just isnt proccessing that in IE but I 'm not sure. I feel like I'm very close to getting this slideshow to work, yet I need to figure out why it is failing in IE.
