Auto Browser Re-sized On The Site Loading / Refreshing - Safari?
Jun 29, 2010
Not what i would like but the client wants the browser re-sized on the site loading/refreshing... Been using the following and it works fine.... apart from in Safari. how i can get it working in Safari, or no chance?
I have a page with various divs containing SWF's and some HTML and JavaScript. The problem is that, when the page is first visited using IE7, half of the content doesn't appear. So, I have created a loadDivs(); function that looks like this::
Code:
function loadDivs() { var mardi2= $('mardiGras'); mardi2.show();
Here is what I am currently using for a script: <script> function detectBrowser() { var browser=navigator.appName; var navindex=navigator.userAgent.indexOf('Safari'); if (navindex != -1 || browser=='Safari') {alert("The Apple Safari browser does not calculate correctly.)"} </script> And for this to work when the page loads, I use: <body onload="detectBrowser()";>
Basically, I have received Emails from people stating that my website calculators are off by a factor of 100 for anyone using the Apple Safari browser. Since, my website calculates correctly in Internet Explorer, Netscape, Mozilla Firefox, Opera and Google Chrome, I feel this is an Apple Safari problem. Anyway, the above code seems to work okay, but it generates the pop-up when people are using Google Chrome. Is there any way that the script can be changed so that it only pops up when loading Apple Safari?
Need som directions to find my way. First contact with jQuery. I want to auto refresh part of a page in a WordPress blog. already have a page geting the resoult i want from a include_result1.php and include_result2.php Want to make this results to be updated for visitor every 1 second. If an event is taking place now the php script will show a div with information. This chapter is done and working, the trouble comes with the xml load part.
If the load of the xml document is done only once (when the page is first time loaded), I will need to refresh the php script so it looks for more times and info ..but the user will see the page reloading all the time.
I need the php script to look for the events' times in the xml file at all times, so I guess I have to do an auto refreshing of the
events.xml contains schedules and info for events.

I have a page that is running several scripts. I am trying to add a script which refreshes an iframe every 5 seconds. The iframe is reading the contents of a chat buffer so I want the frame to show non-logged-in viewers the latest...I can get my existing code using setInterval to work fine on IE, but it wont on FF or Chrome though Chrome will show the updated info if I refresh the page (which I dont want to do as a am also reloading jpgs. and which FF wont do without emptying the cache).
the page is here: kayasplace.com/cam2.php
and the body code:
Code:
<script> window.setInterval("reloadIFrame();",5000); function reloadIFrame() {
I need a script that will redirect to a specific page is the browser is safari version 4. if the browser is NOT safari 4 I want the browser to stay on the current page.
Is it possible to disable the browser from refreshing when settings document.location.href
for example here's what i would like to do
if you're at mysite.com you'll click on a link. that link will fire a func that will make the location mysite.com/about however i don't want the browser to refresh. instead i want to write some javascript that will do someother stuff. i know it seems pointless but for the project i am working on it actually make pretty good sense (to me at least LOL).
i don't care about clicking the refresh button or F5 right now. just not having the browser refresh when i change the document.location.
I have only started to learn HTML, CSS, and Javascript (roughly 2 weeks now). I am having a issues regarding when I submit form data to the server. I want to temporarily disable the 'submit' button while the browser is loading and then reactivate it once everything has finished loading. This was my attempt at doing this.
I have a lot of javascript functions that request information from an iframe hidden on the page. I see other sites do this, but their browser does not do the loading action (like the processing circle in Firefox). When I do it on my site, each browser shows the loading icon, as if a page was loading. Is it possible to not have this?

That is a sample link. Go down right side of page where you see three buttons: Trailers Featurettes Clips.Those return iframe information to work.
Is there a method in onClick event to refresh the browser. I'd like to have users click on a link to listen to a streaming audio feed, but at the same time as the click, refresh the browser so that my animated gifs will still animate.
I am re-designing my website and I want it to resize itself according to each visitors browser and resolution settings. I have been trying for hours to solve this issue but have found nothing. Here is the URL for the problem page.
I am trying to make our buy page reload after clicking the Paypal "continue shopping" button in Paypal Website Standards. The pop up Paypal shopping cart window closes after clicking the button but our buy page doesn't reload. It doesn't reload in Safari although it seems to be fine in FF and IE. how to make the page reload in this specific instance only.
I'm using this script as an auto resize function for an iframe, but can't get it to work in safari. <script type="text/javascript"> <!-- function calcheight(){ var the_iframe = document.getElementById('paymentHistory'); var the_document = (the_iframe.contentWindow - the_iframe.contentDocument); if(the_document.document) the_document = the_document.document; var the_height= the_document.body.scrollHeight;} //--> </script> To call the function, I have <iframe id="paymentHistory" onload="calcHeight()" src="/andy/admin/categories/printpaymenthistory.php"></iframe>
I am developing a script to work along side my joomla website and i am wanting to develop a script that connects to my database and refresh's certain divs every 2 seconds without the user noticing this,

in otherwords i want my ajax to load and refresh the information located at profile2.php?user=admin which has all user information coming fom database and refreshs every 2 second
I'm writing php based website that queries a database and writes the html with the results. On the home page, I am querying one database and receiving data to connect to other databases (i.e., database hostname, username, and password). Depending on the link selected, the homepage creates a dynamic form and sends the data via method=post. The next dynamic webpage receives the data via $_POST and connects to a different database for the rest of the website content.
I can successfully select a link on the home page and load the data for the second page the first time, but I have a problem when I hit back on the browser. The browser takes me back to the home page but if I select another link for another database, it does not "post" the new database info and the second page looks the same as the first time it loaded.
I put a javascript for a preload in it and it hasnt helped the front page. Right now the header is swish and we took that out and it still took over 2 minutes to download on DSL. I do have the JS anthology book but the script in there didn't work for us. Come to think of it I have almost all of the sitepoint books. Does anyone have any suggestions.
I have a jQuery based gallery [URL] that will load thumbnails to the bottom of a page, however for some reason these images only load on Firefox and IE (Not Chrome or Safari). I'm not sure this is due to jQuery completely.
Issues with Safari in relation to javascript compatibility? I have a page that loads dynamically through user selections as follows: There is a set of three radio buttons. The user selects one and a div opens revealing a select box populated with entries related to the radio button selection.
When the user makes a selection from the select box, one of two things happen. 1) If there are child records relating to their selection, a second div opens revealing another select box containing the child entries relating to the first select box choice. Or 2) if there are no child entries relating to the selection in the first select box, a div opens displaying a description relating to the selection they made in the first select box.
The data is all coming from prepopulated javascript arrays. This works like a dream in IE and Chrome. Unfortunately, when we were in the final stages of testing before release to a live environment, we discovered it works in Safari only as far as the user makes a selection from the three radio buttons driving the opening of the first div layer containing the first select. At this point it stops working completely. On top of that, I cannot find where in the latest release of Safari, that I can see any javascript errors (or if I even can).
I have following problem: If you open a dialog in jquery, the website will be "deacitve" and the dialog would show. I want, that the website will be "deactive", but there shouldn't show any dialogs.
I have a JS file on site A which needs a few parameters from a short text file on site B. Since crossing domain boundaries in JS is problematic, the way I do it is that the JS actually opens an intermediate PHP file on site A which redirects to the destination page in site B. Here's how it goes:
The call is made through code...
The problem is that this takes a long time. I would really like to speed this up. For example - I thought of using a direct IP address, so that there won't be any need a DNS server (using Code...
) but this would expose me to hackers as it would make my Hostgator username visible. According to HG support the above format is the only way to access my subsite via direct IP.
Any ideas on how to speed this up, either by bypassing DNS (but without exposing username) or by offering another way of reading data across sites?
