Ajax :: Auto Refreshing A Xml File Load

I have the following php script:

$doc = new DOMDocument();
$doc->load( 'events.xml' );
$events = $doc->getElementsByTagName( "event" );
[Code]....
events.xml contains schedules and info for events.
If an event is taking place now the php script will show a div with information. This chapter is done and working, the trouble comes with the xml load part.
If the load of the xml document is done only once (when the page is first time loaded), I will need to refresh the php script so it looks for more times and info ..but the user will see the page reloading all the time.
I need the php script to look for the events' times in the xml file at all times, so I guess I have to do an auto refreshing of the
$doc->load( 'events.xml' );
how can I do that??

I want to use AJAX for my whole site so I can load and browse trough pages without refreshing. I use a lavalamp plugin for the menu on each page and some other jquery functions for the different pages.The problem is that when I use AJAX and go to the next page, the javascript there won't be loaded and will start running when I am already on the page. I don't know if the above was clear enough, but my question is: Is there a way I could use AJAX to load the next page, run every javascript function in it and then show it to the user?

I don't know if this can be done in Javascript, or requires any other language but i was wondering if this would be possible.I would like to embed this Javascript code in to a PHP file and then for it to run automatically upon the PHP file loading:

I am developing a script to work along side my joomla website and i am wanting to develop a script that connects to my database and refresh's certain divs every 2 seconds without the user noticing this,
only issue is that joomla isnt wanting to work with me on this,

Need som directions to find my way. First contact with jQuery. I want to auto refresh part of a page in a WordPress blog. already have a page geting the resoult i want from a include_result1.php and include_result2.php Want to make this results to be updated for visitor every 1 second. I have a page that is running several scripts. I am trying to add a script which refreshes an iframe every 5 seconds. The iframe is reading the contents of a chat buffer so I want the frame to show non-logged-in viewers the latest...I can get my existing code using setInterval to work fine on IE, but it wont on FF or Chrome though Chrome will show the updated info if I refresh the page (which I dont want to do as a am also reloading jpgs. and which FF wont do without emptying the cache).

What I'm trying to achieve is, when my page loads, I want a ajax script to send data to a php file and then I want the php file to echo the data sent to it. Later I'll insert this ajax data into the database but for testing I want it to echo.
For example let's say the javascript collects the user's browser info, On page load I want the ajax to send this browser info to a php script, the php script should echo back the browser info sent to it and it displayed on the calling html page. (this is example I know this can be done with just javascript or php but it will be simple enough to show me how the 2 interact)

Not what i would like but the client wants the browser re-sized on the site loading/refreshing... Been using the following and it works fine.... apart from in Safari. how i can get it working in Safari, or no chance?

I have been successfully using the following "myAjax" function to load text file information from the server.
ajax.js:
After I load the text file, I store the text "records" into an array by doing something like this:
Where the '}' character is my record delimiter. It could just as easily be ' ' or ' ' or the like.
Again, I am not having any problems doing it this way as it suits my current needs.
Now the question(s)
1. Does the call to read the text data from the external file always read in the entire contents or can I read one line or delimited record at a time and store it to the array directly without the text storage?
2. If the text is always read completely (my suspicion), can I safely delete the "TextInformation" after I convert to the array format? Is there any memory penalty for doing it this way as the text information can be somewhat lengthly and I don't like the idea of having doubled memory usage when I only need the information in array format anyway?
This is the idea I am considering, but I don't know if there are drawback to this method of if there is a better way to accomplish the task.

Is there a way using javascript to have it check if a file exists on the server? I'm trying to check for a file on my server without having to refresh the open webpage. If this can't be done with javascript, do you know which webpage languange can execute this?

The user enters their info, the info is sent to the php page through ajax, the php checks if the input fields are empty and checks if the info is correct.If fields are empty or the info is wrong, it updates a div layer with an error message telling them what is wrong.
My problem though is if the user enters correct info. If the user enters correct info I want the main page (index.php) to be refreshed (This is the page with the original form on it).This is my java script:

I've tried various things with the meta tag, including updating multiple parts of the page (using ID|<blah> instead of just a plain echo) and a couple other things. None of them will get the original page itself to reload.

i been poken around on here and have not found anything on this as of now, so i thought i would ask. i have a table of data that is positioned in the middle of one of my pages, rather than change the layout i thought it would be nice to just have the page auto scroll down to the middle of the page when the page loads so that the user does not have to constantly scroll down.

I'm writing a script and I've encountered a problem.. I have a txt file with many words, each word in a different line. For example: the file words.txt contains:
word1
word2
word3
word4
word5
I need to load the content of the file into a variable in my script. I prefer that all the words will be in the same variable with line breaks, but if you'll figure out a way to put it in an array, it's ok too. I really don't know how to do it, and I tried to google but didn't understand.. By the way, I don't want to change the txt file to js file, I need it to remain txt..

I wanna send a file thru the JQuery.load, I want it to work exactly like the regular post without the JQuery. So I can check the $_FILES['file']['error'] in PHP and all its features like I do without using JQuery.

I am looking for a way to select a file from a list and load it into a webpage. The page and the files are stored on a sd-card for off-line usage, I know that listing files remote dynamicly needs a scripting engine but since the sd-card is on the client side that is not possible, but I can make a list of those files when creating them.
It is intended for a datalogger on a tractor-puller, I create csv files with a bash script on the logger and for off-line viewing I use a javascript charting engine which loads the csv file, the files have the creation date as filename and I can make (and maintain) a list of files when creating them. The plan is that the we can select another data set (run) from within the browser and show that one. I have setup an example at [URL]

I have a div that has 4 buttons and another div inside that the four buttons load pages into depending on which one is clicked. Picture an image gallery except for images its loading pages. All good, all works.What I want to do is trigger the buttons to activate every five few seconds and load the pages on their own without the button having to be clicked on.basically creating a rotating type banner ad system.Below is the code for one of the buttons.

I have a .js file, we want to make it to load a html file right next to it, both files are on client system. I couldn't find any such examples and some posts talked about JavaScript security issues, I wonder if it is related to what I want.
Someone said .js file is not really JaveScript file, though Microsoft named it 'JavaScript'.
note that I am trying to "call" .html file from the .js file, not embed html code in .js.

I was trying to display a pdf file inside a HTML div and was using JQuery $('#divid').load(url) to load the file inside a div. While other HTML files are loading properly, i am facing problem loading a pdf file.
The content does not get rendered properly, i am not sure whether this load function is supposed to handle this, but is there any other way to load a pdf inside a div?
