Ajax :: POST Method And Send - Store The Search Terms In A Database
Mar 15, 2010
I too have a problem with Ajax POST method and Send. I have set up a Site Search using the Google Ajax Search API, and it works fine. The search term is stored in the variable (?) query. Just to make sure, I have set up a new variable (searchTerm) to read the value of query, and a temporary Alert box shows that this variable does indeed contain the search term.
I want to store the search terms in a database so I can see what people are searching for. So I set up a POST method to send the searchTerm to a php file, which uses if (isset($_POST['searchTerm'])) to obtain the searchTerm and then insert it into a MYSQL database. But it doesn't work.
When I couldn't insert into the database, I added a second (temporary) insert using a dummy value as the else part of the above if statement, to test (1) if the Ajax file was actually setting the php file going, and (2) to check my Insert code was working. Both work.
So the problem is clearly that either the Ajax code doesn't Send correctly, or the php isn't receiving it. I am stumped to find what is wrong. Here are the two relevant sections of code:

To repeat, the php is running and always loads the dummy variable from the else section, indicating that isset($_POST['searchTerm']) is null.
Is there anyway to use Javascript (or other code) so that if you've arrived at a web page on your site via google (and there is alot of text on the screen) the javascript will scroll automatically to the searched terms? Is there anyway to use Javascript (or other code) so that if you've arrived at a web page on your site via google (and there is alot of text on the screen) the javascript will scroll automatically to the searched terms?
I have to highlight the search terms in the text area.
I have one text Filed, search Button and text area.
Quote ... After i have enter the search string in the text field whenever i click the search button it highlight the search terms which is available in the text area and focus the search term in text area.
I have try to do this by using jquery. But in mozilla,I can't get the focus to the search term at the time of search.
I have to scroll down the text area for find the focused search term.
In I.E. also it doesn't work properly. Otherwise if any post related to highlight search term in text area is also appreciable.
I have a simple AJAX chat room and it's taking too much local bandwidth when it downloads. What I want to do is call a page with AJAX that checks for new entries in the database and sends a response if there are new ones. But if there's nothing new it just doesn't respond. That way a user won't have to download a response with no new material. Is this okay to do? Am I correct in assuming this will have a positive affect on bandwidth?
i am trying to create a form that where the page will not refresh if the form is submitted specially if the user inputs any errors in the form my problem is i do not know how to send multiple variables using jquery to a php file i saw somewhere that in order to do this you need to concatenate the variables you will be sending this is the code i am using
the jquery successfully sends the variable to the php file the problem is once i insert it into a database all the variables i sent are concatenated for example in the column stud_no once you send the form this is what will be inserted "123123name=asdasd"
On my homepage (index.html), I have a search field which fires the users input (text) parameters off to another website to perform the search (ie. results.html). What I'm now trying to do is create an iframe on index.html which shows the search results on the same page (without the user having to visit the other website. Does anyone know if this is possible using javascript?
The reason behind this is so that we can use the search on our old website on our new one... without having to re-invent the wheel.
I've used a few jquery things before, but I haven't a clue when it comes to javascript, so I've mainly just modified variables here and there. This is my first attempt at actually writing something, and well.....its not working
Im trying to send an ajax post to an external file, which simply returns 'Complete' after updating the db. My html gives me an ul, with li elemnts, representing names of comics.

I want to send three text box values to server using jquery ajax. problem is that, i dont know the exact syntax to send three data. When i try sending one data(also change no.of parameters to one at server side method), its going good but when i try to send three text box values, its giving jquery error:"Internal server error". I think I am not sending data in correct way. Example below contains only two sending data, because i was trying to send 2 data first.
Below is the code:
function testCAll() { $.ajax({ type: "POST", url: "dbTest1.aspx/SendMessage",

In my MVC 2 website i have an index page with a list of items. Besides each item is a delete link which once you press it prompts you with a jQuery dialogbox where they need to confirm their action.I get the dialog box op with the right buttons and text. But the issue occurs when I try to confirm and call the deleteJob(jobId) method. The problem is that I never reach the ActionResult method in my controller.
When i override the ajax method with $.ajaxSetup and set the type:'post', then consecutive calls to fetch data from the server, by Ajax Tabs (url), the tab stays Loading... forever. Firebug shows that a POST request was made and it completed successfully, however, the Tab stays Loading... forever. If i set it back to type:'get', the Tabs work fine. is it a bug, restriction? if it's a restriction, then why? workarounds?
Heres the code for sub-account-ajax.php: <?php if (isset($_POST['email_address'])){ echo 'youre set'; }else{ echo 'nothing set'; }?>
When this code is executed I do not get any alerts or any error messages whatsoever. I've been pretty good with figuring things out so far with jQuery, but this is the first I'm stumped with.
This jquery code pulls in an XML file, then passes the contents down to the nested POST call to add all of the records from the XML into a database table (which is handled by the saveSenatorRecord.asp file). This all works fine.. except that when the POST is called for "EACH" of the member nodes I expected the success: function to be called once after each of the records are added to the table. But what appears to be happening is that when function is called in the EACH property... it adds all of the records to the database table at one time, THEN it calls the success function once for each individual record.. but AFTER they have all been added.
Here i am posting the request to a servlet. The call is going to the servlet. But i am not able to get the data (filename which i am sending ) in my servlet. How to access the param value in the servlet.
