JQuery :: [validation] ErrorContainer Does Not Hide When A Non-required Field Is Cleared?
Oct 12, 2011
I am attempting to use the errorContainer, errorLabelContainer model to display all validation errors. I have a field that is not required, but if there is data in it, it must be a number between 100 and 65535. If I enter an invalid number and change focus, the errorContainer appears along with the error message. If I empty the field, the error message goes away, however the errorContainer is still visible with the it's global error message. Is there a way to get the container to hide also?
I'm currently setting up a site which will have a contact form and I'm using the validation plugin.
Currently the 'This field is required' message shows up after the form's input fields. What I want to do is have the message show up after the name label of the field.
I have an Accordion and I validate each section. It works. In the last section, I run Validation on the entire form when the user clicks on Submit. It works. However, the summary message from errorContainer and errorLabelContainer do not appear. I have copied the code from the documentation for errorContainer, but something else is preventing it from working. In prior posts, I've seen that some success: option is a problem. I use a success: option in Autocomplete, but presumably that is not the issue. Does anyone have thoughts / experience about where to look in my code for the problem - I'm looking at a blank wall.
Here's some code. In the jQuery, the alert fires and validate() runs, but the errorContainer does not appear.
I am able to display the validation error messages at top of with wrapper: "li" like the following screen: But when I enter a valid email into E-mail field, the list item bullet not display (hide) properly in the error container, please see the screen below: Is this a bug or did I missed some settings in my source code? Attached here is the sample code that demo the problem (after extract the compress file, please open sample-code/demo/demo.html). Attachments sample-code.tar.gz Size : 32.36 KB Download : 345
however the validation still fails on the creditcard field. If I enter this in to Firefox's console:
$("#OForm").validate().element("#creditcard");
it returns false.
To make matters more confusing, this validation only fails on my form when I am passing a particular parameter in the URL string. I've scoured my code and cannot figure out why that parameter would have any impact whatsoever on this matter.
I have a form that displays data from a database table, and makes some of the fields text boxes, so the user can edit them. These text boxes are required fields. But if the user deletes the text and then tabs out of it, the "required" error message does not come up, until some other validation is done or the form is submitted. How can I make the "required" error message appear immediately?
i have a group of textbox and i have to validate them on button click.First validation is required field validation i.e., it iscompulsoryto provide input and, Second validation is range validation .e.g., textbox can only contain numeric values between 0-9. How can iachievethis functionality using jQuery ?
I'm trying to figure out if it makes sense to use jQuery to do the following. I have a form with several checkboxes. If one particular checkbox is checked, I'd like a required dropdown field to appear. Is this something fairly straightforward to do with jQuery?
I'm using the validation plugin available here and seem to be encountering trouble in IE7. The validation is not occuring and my forms submit. Not what I want.The functions below are working fine in FF3, Opera 9.0, Chrome, & Safari.I'm going to guess this is a result of some misplaced character or ...??? Maybe a second set of eyes will spot the error.
I have some fields that require no validation and some that require it. The valid css I made in green color. Now when I click on submit the validated fields show green and the non requested are left yellow that I use. Is there a way to somehow on submit make all the fields to have valid class?
this code check work fine ,but i have radio button (yes and no) on same .aspx page .if yes(0) and no (1). i need to check if yes is selected (certain palceholder open that have some controls) i already did .but teh problem is i need to check yes is selected or not for radio buton.
Here is my validation script from dreamweaver I also have it in php for server side. But I trying to get a checkbox to make a text field required when you select it. Right now I have it so when you hit submit whether the text field is filled out or whether the checkbox is selected or not the error message comes up no matter. The link to the page is [URL]
I am having a problem getting the error container to clear out after I have fixed invalid inputs. I am using the invalidHandler option. When my form is invalid it shows a message of the number of errors (taken from the sample code) and shows the invalid messages. After I correct each error the corresponding message goes away but I am still left with the message of the number of errors.
Here is my setup. $("#aspnetForm").validate({ focusCleanup: true, onfocusout: false, onkeyup: false, submitHandler: function(form) { saveAnnouncement(); return false; }, invalidHandler: function(form, validator) { var errors = validator.numberOfInvalids(); if (errors) { var message = errors == 1 ? 'You missed 1 field. It has been highlighted.' : 'You missed ' + errors + ' fields. They have been highlighted.'; $("div.error span").html(message); .....
I need to validate two forms containing multiple input fields but want just one error message if any of the fields are left blank, the page is required to submit the users details (registration form). Also if any of these fields are left blank i don't want to be able to go to the next page on clicking the submit button
I am using jquery.validate.js file to validate an input form, It works fine, my problem is the error messages are not get cleared while clicking the reset button in the form.
The following form validation script works, currently if one of the five fields are completed, a message appears the remaining field(s) must be completed etc. Although the information the user has inputted in the first field is cleared. How can this information be available, if there is one problem in the form it doesn't make sense that the user must re-input all the information again. I look forward to hearing your response,
I have a form that has 4 "required fields" that validate using JS. I am now trying to add a 5th "required field" (the difference is that this field is a "radio button input as opposed to a text input).
I have it working so that when the 1st radio button is selected, the form will go through. However, when the 2nd radio button is selected, it comes up with the "please fill in all required fields" error.
Here is the JS I have so far:
HTML Code:
I tried adding the 2nd radio button value like this:
HTML Code:
(document.indiv_reg.skill[0].checked =="") || (document.indiv_reg.skill[1].checked =="") But when I do that, then even when the 1st radio button is selected it comes up with the "please fill out all required fields error".
Line 9, Column 33: required attribute "type" not specified <script src="lite_validation.js"></script> The attribute given above is required for an element that you've used, but you have omitted it. For instance, in most HTML and XHTML document types the "type" attribute is required on the "script" element and the "alt" attribute is required for the "img" element. Typical values for type are type="text/css" for <style> and type="text/javascript" for <script>.

There are two input fields in a form, but only one of them is required, they are not required at the same time. Either A or B is required. ( A is required OR B is required). In other words, a user can input data to field A, or he can input data to filed B, but he can not input data to Both A and B at the same time. How to implement this constraint in Jquery form validation?
I need to invoke a method when a field validation is either successful or unsuccessful. I have managed to get the function to run if the field validation fails by using the following:
$('#myform').validate({ rules: { client_name: {
[code]....
But how do I invoke a method specific to a field that triggers when the field validates successfully? I need to invoke showBigGreenTick(fieldname) for the fields that are validOn another note, I find it very strange the the documentation is so poor regarding this validation. To even find out that there was a "messages" option for validate was found on another website.
