JQuery :: Using .Get With A Relative Path URL?
Mar 21, 2011
I'm having an issue using .get and a callback. Basically, unlessI use a fully quantified path when I deploy my site the call doesn't work. When I'm developing on localhost, the site works fine. It's an ASP.NET MVC site. I'm fairly new to jQuery. If I replace the code with an absolute path, all seems fine. Obviously I'd rather use relative paths. I'd be grateful for any insight you could offer.

I'm using a script to include images into a slide show using direct URLs to the image files, but I am using fckeditor (PHP) for my users to edit their content. The script in the .js file that pulls the images into the slide show.The user's image file is going to be named something like, "userImage01.php". Inside that file would be their image location path ~ "images/user/image1.jpg".Therefore, I need the above javascript to pull-in "userImage01.php" INSTEAD OF the image's location path.

1. I have some links that open with Javascript. The HTTP links work just fine, but I have one link that is supposed to open a picture in a new window. The picture is stored in the root/images folder. So it's supposed to be a relative path, but no matter what I do, I get an error page. (images/snailmail.jpg)
2. I have added a mouserollover funtion to change a small picture on the page. I am trying to add a second function to that function, to stop the scrollbar in the lower left corner as long as the mouse hovers over the picture. For the first picture, it works fine, but with the 2nd picture which allready has a mouseover function, I am not sure what to do.

In short, is there any way to have a js file know the location on the server where it is stored.. I can only find the domain/location of the current web page URI.
Explanation:
I have a bunch of javascript and php files that are in one location and are shared across a whole bunch of subdomains (each on their own folder on the root). I call the script through a "scripts" subdomain (this is so all the subdomains can access them in one shot).
A couple of the js files are ajax incorporated and I want to call a php script. Obviously, I can't call to the "scripts" subdomain, nor can I use the root webserver (as it is detected as the calling subdomains root). The only thing I can think of is if I can call the php file RELATIVE to the JS file... but all I can seem to get is RELATIVE to the calling script, which won't work since the js file won't know where it's being called from.

I found an jQuery/javascript slideshow which I try to duplicate. You can find the one I'm talking about here. I downloaded the files needed jQuery, slideme and script but I can't get it to work. In other words the pictures simply don't show. The funny thing is though that when you look in the slideme library they refer to the pictures.I have tried everything but the pictures simply don't show. Does anybody have any experience with this kind of slideshow an see what i'm doing wrong?

I have an unordered list element which has click events registered. What i want is to be able to find the nth relative sibling to the list item that is clicked. In prototype I can simply say $(elm).next(3) or $(elm).previous(3) for the 3rd sibling forwards or backwards from the current sibling.
In JQuery there doesn't seem to be a way of getting a sibling relative to the current one, other than the immediate next() or prev(). So if I want the third previous I have to do this inJQuery
$(elm).prev().prev().prev()

I have two divs: #div1 and #div2. what I'm trying to do is attach the second div to follow directly to the right of the first div, but I'm doing something wrong with the left property:
$('#div2').hide().insertAfter($('#div1'));
$('#div2').show().css({$('#div1').css('left', 100%)});so to recap, just trying to insert the second div directly to the right of the first one.

Have a web app which consists of a form and have it set up to launch a dialog box containing information next to the subject label text field.Everytime, someone fills out the form and clicks on submit, the form's message body (from the text area of the form) is displayed on top and theform is displayed underneath it. Before, I had it set up as fixed (x,y) for the dialog box to appear next to the subject label. But, now, whenthe page becomes longer, the dialog box doesn't appear next to my subject label text field. It is displayed a lot lower.
Here's the code to find the position:
// Finds the position and adds 40px to the left axis.
function findPosition(obj) {
var curleft = curtop = 0;
if (obj.offsetParent) {
[Code]....
How can I set it so my findPosition() calculation doesn't miscalculate when the page is too long (when scroll bars are needed)?
Is there a way to set the relative positioning to always have the dialog appear 40px right of the subject label?

I've got an example here: [URL]
This is a setup for a product listing within a table. I wish to move the <table> with id="item_Tbl" relative in position to the <span> id="tablerelative" so it's positioned either above or below this span.
I'm guessing this may not even need javascript it maybe just a CSS change? But either method is welcome as a response?

I need the input field to be automatically filled with date 'today + 3 days' and formatted to 'dd.mm.yy'. I attempted to use $.datepicker.formatDate and $.datepicker.parseDate, but they obviously can't work with relative date like '+3d'.

What is the best way to get the position of an element relative to the document (accounting for margins as well)?I would like to position another element over it. I'm using the offset() function but i am running into issues 1. The values for top & left returned in IE 8 (perhaps other versions) are incorrect.2. Offset() doesn't take into account margins of the element. And when margins are set to auto i cannot seem to get the correct margin values to use

I made this quick 12sec/600KB screencast to help illustrate what's happening:[URL]...There is a hidden div that contains the fieldset. The slide is applied to the div. In Firefox, the element that has the slideDown/SlideUp effect applied works fine. In IE7, the element just appears, then the elements around it slide (which appears broken)
The fieldset element has a position:relative property (which is needed for fixing CSS bugs on the legend tag)
If I remove the position:relative property, slideUp/slideDown works fine in IE7 (but breaks the legend tag)
Is there a way around this without having to remove the position:relative property?

What I'd like to do is change the path to images with the class .changsrc. Eventually I'll attach this to a link, but for now I only need it to happen on page load. I managed to change the entire image src using attr() but that doesn't work for multiple images with one class name. (maybe I'm missing something there)So... how can I change
img src="images/imagename.jpg"
to:
img src="images/alt/imagename.jpg"

Is there any way to get the FULL path that is shown in the mcDropdown after the selection? this.getValue() only returns the selected value in the dropdown AND $("input#category").val() does the same, instead of showing the full path. I need the full path. Also, I am not getting the arrows on the items that have children even though looking at the CSS in Firebug, I can see them as they are in the path.

I built a reusable plugin for slideshows. Client now needs me to add something that will affect its reusability.The line below is a snippet which is attached to a nav button. Each slideshow has a dot per slide. When clicked I get the number of sibling that it is within the group and then I look UP the DOM to the nearest div with the class called 'slide_holder'. I then display the slide that has the same sibling number as the dot(In other words - If you click the second dot in the group of dots, then the second slide will fade in. If you click the 3rd dot, then the 3rd slide will fade in)Below is a snippet (CLICK HANDLER)
$('.slider_dot').click(function() {
$(this).parent('.slide_dot_holder').prev('.slide_holder').children().fadeOut('slow');
$(this).parent('.slide_dot_holder').prev('.slide_holder').find('div:eq(' + $(this).index() +
