Sep 22, 2009
I have some div's as blocks hidden wich should show on a button click, and if there is some other block visible, I have to slide it Up and then slideDown the clicked one...like this
The problem is that I'm doing this with the callback function, but it start sliding down when the other block is not completly up...

If slideToggle()'s parameters were expanded to include a separate callback for sliding up and sliding down. Or for backwards compatibility, perhaps include an optional boolean parameter in the callback to more easily discern between a slideUp and slideDown operation.

I'd like some direction on creating a small piece of Javascript that will populate my <select> boxes.Basically, I have a form for users to create events, with a start time and an end time. (These are the two select boxes).For example:
Code:
<select id="startTime">
<option value="12:00AM">12:00AM</option>
<option value="12:15AM">12:15AM</option>
etc.....
</select>
What I am trying to do is:
1) Have times populated in 15 minute incrementals from 12:00AM to 11:45PM
2) Have some type of "error checking" available to where the End Time must be after the start time. It would be nice for the script to automatically change the end time field to a time that is after the start time.

I do have the countdown script (see link below) to display the time between current time and the date given in real-time. However, I want to achieve to display the time difference between a given start and end time. Right now, it calculates from the current server time to the end time. I want to be able to set up my own start time and end time.

What I noticed is that my error callback is fired every time.
MyService.asmx:
[WebMethod]
public FileInfo[] GetFileInfo(int Id){
Proxies.ServiceRef.ServiceClient c = new Proxies.ServiceRef.ServiceClient();
return c.GetFileInfo(Id).ToArray();
}
The Jquery code where I am getting error:
$.ajax({
url: url,
data: jsonData,
type: "POST",
contentType: _I.contentType,
timeout: _I.timeout,
dataType: "serviceproxy", // custom type to avoid double parse
dataFilter: function (jsonString, type) { .....
When I debug using firebug the response is as follows.
{"d":[{"__type":"Proxies.AFARServiceRef.AssignmentInfo","ExtensionData":

one could add a 'start' & 'stop' (id="stopit") button to control the simple sprite animation. My Javascript looks like this (note that it works in tandem with the core.js that comes with the book; see the ZIP file i've attached):
Code:
var Robot =
{
init: function() // initiate via core.js
{
[Code]....
clicking on the 'start' button more than once speeds up the animation, more with each successive click. Clicking the 'stop' button will only finally stop the animation if it's done the same number of times as the 'start' button was clicked.

I think right now jQuery slideDown() will show the content bit by bit (line by line) of that DIV, showing top content first, and then little by little, the content below it...
Is there a way to actually slide the *content* down as well? In order words, showing the bottom of the DIV, and then it will move down, a little by little, and then show more of the content above it.

is there a way to check if a picture has downloaded completely?
What I (read: my boss) want to do is open the index-page with a picture, and after it's downloaded, reload the website to index2.php after say 4 seconds.
Is it enough to do an OnLoad in the body tag, or doesn't that include the downloading of the items/pictures on the page?

I use the getJSON request to fill a select (with cities names) after the user have choosen his region.
I paste some code:
The problem is that callback is never called. I used firebug and i have seen that when i change region the getJSON function is called and my script (python) return this JSON:
Why my callback is not called? I can't even get the alert ('callback time!'). I thinked that my json could be broken, but firebug net console read and parse it very well, so i think is valid JSON.
I also tried to split up the function declaration from the getJSON request, but it's no use.

I have found this nice background rotator:
Code:
<style>
body
{
/*Remove below line to make bgimage NOT fixed*/
background-color:black;
background-attachment:fixed;
background-repeat: no-repeat;
[Code]...
when i run it, i have to wait the 9000 timer to c the first image, and i need the page to start with an image and then start the rotation, i have assigned background-image by css, and tried also to use document.body.background, but when i do this the rotator doesnt work.

I've inherited some unfinished code for a menu system (previous developer left the company before he could finish it). The menu worked fine until the client wanted some nested lists, which is when the height was being set incorrectly. I had a fiddle and I can get the height to report correctly, but it's extremely erratic as to when it will actually drop down. I've stripped the code out into a file on its own, complete with a lovely colour scheme. the code I added can be streamlined somehow. I'm only just getting to grips with JavaScript & jQuery. Test version:[URL]..
