I've seen a variety of implementations around that enable selecting all or no checkboxes by using a checkbox to toggle that choice. However, I'm trying to find a way like this: I have two text links on my page: Select All, and Select None. How can I get those links to call a jquery function to select all or select no checkboxes in my form? As a little food for thought:
<head>
$(function() {
//function for selecting all or none...is there a way to make a single function that passes in a parameter to differentiate between selecting all or selecting none, or do I need a separate function for both?[code]....
i am trying to pass text from one select box to another select box. The logic is if 10 are added, no more passing must happen. Also if an item is already added, it mustn't be added again.I am using the for loop to check the existence of an item but it is not working: what am i doing wrong?
Code:
function PassSelectValues(){
//pass values from select boxes to select boxes
var counter;[code]....
why isn't counter incrementing at all? The alert message box does appear saying item exists but the item gets added anyway.
I'm trying to get a select box to display text from a database in a div tag from the select box populated by a while loop that also pulls from the database. The only way I can do this is from a javascript written by sending it over to a second page and I need it on just one page. Here is my code below:
<?php
session_start();
$q=$_GET["q"];
$num = $_GET['num'];
$test = $_GET['oneGram1'];
$_SESSION['oneGram']=$test;
[Code]...
Even if this is a wrong way to go about doing this can someone post just a simple script using a select box and displaying data on the same page?
Alright, I'm using a Rooh.It WordPress plugin right now, but I don't like the way they do it, so I want to write my own code to do something similar.
I want the user to be able to select the text they want to highlight, and the background color of that text changes to whatever color they have selected.
How can I do this in JavaScript?
I want a standard looking dropdown select box what allows me to enter free text as well (ie the option is not in the list so the user can type in something else). I saw the UIauto complete plugin which is close but not exactly what I want.
View 1 Replies View RelatedI have the following code: $('select.interest').change(function(){
var value = $(this + 'option:selected').text();
console.log(value);
)};
I just want to get the text of the select element I just changed. However, this is returning the text of the selected value of ALL the select elements on my page.
How can I copy the contents of a div and put it into a textarea while changing the select tags for the chosen option?Example, take the following HTML:
<select><option>am</option><option value=":abbr: title='Ante Meridium' lang='en':AM:/abbr:">Ante Meridium</option></select> going to visit the <select><option>US,</option><option value=":abbr: title='United States' lang='en':US:/abbr:">United

How can I do that? How do I use the selector to select from other web pages other than the current page?
I know that you can select all p elements on the current page by doing this: $("p").doSomething But what if I want to select from another web page?
I am trying to select a dropdown item by text. The html
<select name="ddlTest" id="ddlTest">
<option value="1">One</option>
<option value="2">Two</option>

i have a Jquery code defined like this
// Let's add it to textarea this time
$(".cnt").focus(function()
{
// Check for the change
[Code]....
but still when i select a textbox that has "0" it does not select the whole content of the textbox. i went through a breakpoint and it goes through this line
cnt.CssClass = "cnt"
I have some auto-generated code in a similar format to this:
<li class="item">
<a class="link1" href="#">Post Title</a>
Text I want to remove
<div class="content">
[Code].....
I want to select the line of text ("Text I want to remove" - with no HTML tags around it) and hide it using CSS (or remove it all together, if I can). I have tried using insertAfter to put a start <span> tag at the start of the line, and insertBefore to close the </span> tag at the end of the line (so I can apply CSS display:none; to it), but clearly JQuery doesn't work like that.
Is there another way to get rid of this line of text?
How can I wrap text inside a select box? or perhaps I could allow the select box to flow over the div its in. That might actually be better now that I think of it :)
View 1 Replies View Relatedlet's say I have this code markup:
<div id="id1">
This is some text
<div class="class1"><p>lala</p> Some markup</div>
</div>
What I would want is only the text "This is some text" without the child element's .class1 contents.
How would I do that? A normal selector would select "recursively", so how do I limit it to one level?
I would like to select a text, in my HTML page. Is that possible? About the page [URL], it seems to be not allowed by jQuery... For exemple if my document is:
<html>
Hello word!
</html>
I would like to select each "l" letter and replace by L [URL]. But I don't know how to select just a text.
I have such html code snippet: <select name="submitted-name" class="form-select day" id="edit-submitted-doum-tarihi-day" >
<option value="" selected="selected">Day</option>
<option value="1">1</option>
<option value="2">2</option>
</select>
how can I change the text "Day" to "Month" with jquery?
Say I have the following HTML:
Code:
<h1> 45 <em>people like this</em></h1>
How do I select just the '45' portion?
i trying to select a <select> option programatically. i can see in firebug that the value of the select tag change but not it's text. how could i select a option by displaying it's text?
i try
$(mySelect).val(optionValue);
and
$(mySelect).find('option[value='1']").attr("selected","selected");
but they both are not working.
I have multiple select boxes on 1 page, I need to get the text of the select boxes(which is the qty of an item) and the value of the selectboxes (the price of the item) and the item description which is in a span tag with a class descriptionColor,
and when someone chooses something from the first select box and sth from the second and so on,I need to add the item name, quantity and total price of each item to hidden fields.
so the hidden field would include: for name:qty of item 1 + item1 name,qty of item2 + item2 name ... for price:total price of all items.
<td><span class="descriptions"><span class="descriptionsColor">MIXED SALAD</span></span></td>
<td> </td>
<td class="body">

I have a form that has a bunch of text inputs, and I would like to select all that don't already have a class "errorClass" assigned to them. My JQuery currently is:
$('input[type="text"]').addClass("idleField");
But that adds the class "idleField" to ALL text fields, overriding the ones that already had the class "errorClass" assigned to it. What is the proper syntax to add the "idleField" class to all text inputs that don't have the "errorClass" assigned?
Is there a way (selector) that would allow me to select an element by exact mach of containing text. example:
<div>
This is some text
</div>
<div>
This
</div>
Lets say i want to select only the second div
$("div:contains('This')")...
okay, it would select it, but...it would also select the first one. I could iterate through each div and check if the text is matching but that's kinda dirty way of doing this. Is there any selector which would allow me to do this without iteration?
I'm quite new to jQuery but love learning new tricks. I have a search box with a labelOver applied for the hint text and a select dropdown with 4 options. I would like to change the hint text depending on which option is selected.
Eg if the user selects "People" the hint text will read "eg. John Smith", if they pick "Year" the hint text will read "1985".
I am trying to get the text (not value) of a selected item in a select box <option> and display it elsewhere on the page.
View 7 Replies View RelatedI want to do the following thing:
On a simple html page I included jQuery. The page contains a big form including text input fields as well as select list fields (with multiple values).
I want to combine the values from all fields (text and select list) into one (hidden) textarea.
I have a form where a user enters a number in a text box (txtTickets). When that number is entered, I need to create an equal number of select boxes. I've found code examples which show how to dynamically add or delete options from a select box, but I have found no examples which deal with this specific scenario. The select options do not depend on user input -- that is, I do not need to populate it dynamically. I need to create them dynamically. Has anyone created something similar to this?
View 1 Replies View RelatedI have a problem to solve where I have a Hidden set of 40 text inputs. A link to show 10 more of these in inputs at a time, all having unique ID's. The goal I am trying to accomplish is to set the focus to say the 10th input. If the "show more inputs" link is clicked then the focus should go to the next 10th input (really input ID number 20) and so on.
