I eventually want to swap two elements. I've already determined the two buttons from each div. Now I want to swap the elements inside those two divs.

How to find out the previously selected option value in a select list?
For example: I have a list with 3 options

<option value="2">Option 2</option>

When user select, for example, option 3, how can i find which was the previously selected option? etc... I've found some javascript example that evaluate "previousIndex" property of the select element but it doesn't work at all
I have a single page which uses tabs to segment the content. Alongside the tabs themselves is a button for 'Help'. I'd like this button to open a different DIV depending upon the tab that is currently being used.For example, if I am on a tab for 'Ben', if I click the 'Help' button I want the 'helpBen' DIV to slideToggle.If I am on a tab for 'Paul', when I click the 'Help' button I want it to open the 'helpPaul' div.
Some extra needs:
1. switching to a different tab should close the currently open help div (e.g. helpBen or helpPaul)
2. There should only be one help div (e.g. helpBen or helpPaul) open at any one time.
I partly solved this with the following code but with erratic results and I'd like to know what I'm dong so wrong!Here is the HTML for the help button:

The help DIV's are like this:

The CSS for .help is display: none; by default so none are shown from the outset.

I have a jquery menu from which i want to post certain information when a particular element is clicked to my php script which searches a db based on the variables input and presents the information back on the page.
So jquery drop down menu has 4 sections all with drop downs. I want to return results based on the section and then the drop down clicked
So clearly i can get this working fine using html and a form but i just want to use the information in the <li> elements instead..
Can i in jquery do this: upon clicking said element post the class attribute and txt as two things to my php scripts?
I am looking for a way to add an id attribute to a div element I append to my document so that i can find the id later and delete it. So far, no luck with jquery .each loop trying to assign unique value and add incrementing value to each of them. In my code, they all seem to have the same id and when I click again it just appends the same value again to all of them.

There are a couple of things I'm having issues with and was hoping someone could point me in the right direction:1) When you click the check boxes, the image area is selected in red. I'd like to make it so when you click on mild=yellow, moderate=orange, severe=red. But as the colour is specified in default_options. How do I specify the colour for each check box separately?2) I'd like to move the text and check boxes to the top left of the image (I can get the image to float right, but can't seem to move the text (as an asp:panel) to the top left. It is still at the bottom, even after playing with the height etc.

Even if nothing is changed, nevertheless after some time some of the borders would seemingly randomly suddenly show up. I am working on a maze so this really spoils the game.

is there a way where I can have the mouse when it right clicks anything in a webpage that it would have a drop down menu appear or fade in the drop down menu. In the menu I want to have buttons that once clicked it will run a function but it will send some values to the function as an argument. Now one value it will send to the function will be either the name or id of the element selected for example lets say for example a user image 1 got selected and only has a name. How can I select the name? like if the person right clicked this element how can I select the elements name or id ? I'm trying to grab the X/Y co-ordinates of given elements on a page, and scroll to them using the window.scrollTo() method. This is working for standard text boxes (INPUT objects), but for drop down lists (SELECT objects), the JQuery .position() method isn't returning the result object:

This works just fine for text boxes, but will not work for selects/drop down boxes. I've stepped through the code and the element el is always populated correctly, so its not the get statements that is at fault. If I inspect the value of el.position().top I get 'null or not an object' and el.position() returns 'undefined'.
