JQuery :: Call Reload() As A Result Of User Action Outside Of The Carousel?

Jul 27, 2009

I want to display three sets of images on a Web page, and I want to use only one jcarousel to do it. I want to change the list of images based on the user clicking on one of three links, each representing a set of images. How do I do this? I know I can edit the DOM to modify the list of items, but how do I call jcarousel's reload() function? I thought of using three instances of jcarousel, but that takes up too much screen space and requires the user to scroll too much.

JQuery :: Saving The State Of An Ajax Form?

Aug 17, 2009

I have a page with a simple form: 3 hidden fields and 3 selects. I load the data for the first select via Ajax on domready. I have "change" event handlers for all 3 fields. If I select something in the first select, the corresponding data gets loaded into the second select via Ajax etc. So it's a "cascade" of selects. When an option in the 3rd select is being selected, I save the values of all 3 selected options in the hidden fields, and create a button for submitting the form. Until here everything works fine. When a users hits the submit button, he is being forwarded to a results page. Now, when the user hits the back button, and the page with the form gets loaded again, I check if the first hidden field has a value. If so, I try to fill all the form fields with the values the user had entered (i.e. the selections he made), which means I make 3 Ajax calls (to have all the data available), and mark the options the user had selected as selected. That works fine in FF 3 and 3.5, Safari 4, as well as IE 7 right now. IE 6 only display the data of the first select (as if the other two Ajax calls aren't successful or something - no errors though), while Opera 9 doesn't seem to remember the values of the 3 hidden fields (same issue with IE 8, but I'm using IE Tester, which is not always reliable). The html and jquery code (leaving out all the details) look like this:

<form id="myform" action="action.php" method="get">
<input name="manu_saved" id="manu_saved" type="hidden" />
<input name="series_saved" id="series_saved" type="hidden" />
<input name="type_saved" id="type_saved" type="hidden" />

Changing An Alert With Saving In AJAX?

I have a saving script for this sort of profile project I am working on, a user can drag their widgets round the page at their own will and save their position, but I am wondering how to change it so instead of it being an alert (my original idea) into a piece of content, I was going to use Document.write, but it would just make a blank page with the content on. JQuery :: Ajax Result Is Returned In The Wrong Sequence?

Jun 15, 2011

I have a text-box. On the event of `OnKeyup` a function is triggered that looks like this:

$.getJSON(url,function(data){
$.each(data, function(key, value) {
showSearchResult(value);
});
});

No my problem is that when you type really fast then the return search result does not always return relevant to the current value of the textbox.

[I did think of adding a very small time-interval on the onkeyup event but i thought there might be a cleverer way of doing it ]

This problem is because the Ajax calls do not sometimes return in the same sequence that they were fired.

JQuery :: Can't Assign Result Of An Ajax Request To A Variable?

I have to following piece of code:

var myarray = new Array();

url: 'http://distantserver.net/path/script',
dataType: "jsonp",
data: {

[Code]...

It's a cross-domain request. The first console.log() debug message prints the desired result, the second doesn't. It seems that the variable myarray has its scope limited to the success-callback. How do I get the data out of the success-callback?

JQuery :: Ajax Post - Accessing Return Data / Result Variable

Nov 30, 2010

So I'm currently working on a ASP.NET Webforms site and I've run in to a small problem. On my .cs file I have the following Webmethod

[WebMethod]
public static string IsJobEditable(int jobid){
try{
string isEditable = "false";
JobsBLL jbl = new JobsBLL();
int jobStatusId = jbl.GetJobStatusId(jobid);
//If the jobs is either waiting or being edited it is
okay to edit it
if(jobStatusId ==
Convert.ToInt32(ConstantsUtil.JobStatus.Waiting) || jobStatusId ==
Convert.ToInt32(ConstantsUtil.JobStatus.Edit)){
isEditable = "true";
}return isEditable;
}catch (Exception ex){
throw ex;
}}

This function in this case will ALWAYS return TRUE as a string. On Aspx page I have the following
$(function () {
$.ajax({
type: "POST",
url: "Coordination.aspx/IsJobEditable",
data: "{jobid:" + jobid + "}",
contentType: "application/json; charset=utf-8",
dataType: "text",
success: function (result) {
alert(result);

//This is written out in the alert {"d":"true"}
I want this in a variable as a string so I can do a check on it before I do some other actions. The format is not a String so I cannot split on it to retrieve the "true" part.
},
error: function (err, result) { alert(err); }
});});

As you can see in the comments the value I get back in the Callback method is in to me a weird format. The type is unknown and I need this value to be able to proceed with my entire method surrounding the small portion of the Javascript. Where to access the result variable / data as a var or anything else that will let me put it into a var (as a string).

AJAX :: Call Based On Results Of A Previous Call

Dec 14, 2010

The general framework is a simple user login function. The user name is selected and a password entered as usual. The function grabs the element values and passes them to a php page that queries the database. An AJAX call returns the password to the function and then I want the innerHTML to be a choice of two web pages, depending on success or failure of validation. There are existing AJAX functions available on the internet but they are overly complicated for what I think should be a simple, quick to load function.

Where I am stuck is that the standard procedure to make an AJAX call is the browser window event. How do you make the call from within the function? I have tried creating two new variables, "success" and "again" to replace xmlhttp, but still stumble on the event to assign a value. I left the blank password protection (if statement) with that variable to demonstrate what I mean.

I've put in my code below, which is in development and successfully alters the innerHTML text depending on user input but I can't figure out how to insert the relevant php page. I have '// out' the testing bits, but left them for info. (I have tried full 'scripting' as the innerHTML, but it's messy.)

Ajax :: Display Mysql Php Result?

Nov 20, 2011

I am not a javascript programmer, however are checking as I would like to investigate if I can do following:

I have a calculator that check the price for the properties for a choosen date, I use php and mysql to get the result and the result are displayed on the same page refreshing the page using this in the form: action="<?=$_SERVER['SCRIPT_NAME']?>#formdestination">

I know you can print the result using ajax or other javascripts to do this without having to refresh the page and jump to the result.

Was doing a research and I quckly found this link:[URL]..It does not look so complicated, however as I can see the form is done in javascript so I suppose if you have javascript disabled you cant use the calculator.

I would like to have a non javascript solution with the way I am doing it to work if javascript is disabled. An exampel of the calculator can be viewed on this link for exampel:[URL]..

Ajax :: Filter Result Before SetHTML?

Jun 4, 2009

Have developed a Joomla AJAX search module for VirtueMart .

Works fine in everything except IE.

I know the reason is IE's limitation in innerHTML (block level html not allowed in inline)

The problem is the returned html from the AJAX call contains a form so IE throws an error.

To fix it I need to filter out the result before setting the html in the div, in other words select just the elements I need before doing the setHTML.

I've tried everything but I just can't get the syntax right.

Here's what I have

Code:

var req = new Ajax(url, { method: 'get', delay : 300, data: { 'option' : 'com_virtuemart', 'page' : 'shop.browse', blah blah },
onComplete: function(results) {
var theNewEle = new Element('div').setHTML(results);

[Code]....

So what I need to do is target the div class="browseProductContainer and setHTML only that.

JQuery :: How To Get UI Widgets Via Ajax Call

May 10, 2011

My goal is to get some HTML content including some UI widgets and other stuff via an ajax call. To clarify my goal and the strange behavior, I attached some HTML files, that you can run for yourself. Open the index.html will show you some UI widgets, which are pulled from the ajax.html via ajax. When you scroll to the bottom you can see the same content inserted a second time. But this time, the widgets are not "rendered". It looks if the "button()" calls etc. are not executed.

The only difference is the way I insert the result of the ajax call. The first time I insert the hole content received by the ajax call, the second time I only insert the content of a special div. The goal in this is to get various chunks of content with one ajax request and replace "div#one" and "div#two" with different parts of my site. Which is not working. Is it generally okay to receive html content which has some script parts to be executed via ajax and what is wrong with my second approach?

JQuery :: Cannot Return Value After Ajax Call

Aug 9, 2009

I'm currently using the dialog functionality (modal form) from UI library to submit data to the database. All the validation checks have been running ok until one of the validation checks requires a ajax call to check if a username exist in the database. I'm fairly new to both javascript and jquery so this could be a fairly basic blunder. Initially, i thought it was an synchronicity problem, but I changed the $.ajax async option to true but still no joy, so maybe it something to do with scope etc?

Here's the code:
function checkIfUsername(){
$.ajax({
type: "POST",
url: ""+CI_ROOT+"index.php/admin/check_if_username",
data: ({username: username.val()}),
async: false,
dataType: "json",
success: function(data){
returnUsernameBool(username, data);
}});
}function returnUsernameBool(o, data){
if(data.bool == true){
o.addClass('ui-state-error');
updateTips("Your username must be unique");
alert('false'); //this works
return false; //still can't return bool
}else{
alert('true'); //this works
return true; //still can't return bool
}}
bValid = bValid && checkIfUsername(username);
alert(bValid); //still gives undefined

JQuery :: Accessing A List After AJAX Call

Apr 9, 2011

I have a page that creates one unordered list from the contents of another list. The second list is created from a database query and is hidden on the page. I have written a JQuery function shown below that does an AJAX call which causes the hidden list to be created and that is working perfectly. The problem is that when the code following the AJAX call is executed it doesn't see the hidden list. The alert message displays 0 the first time. clicking on the Load button a second time results in the first list being displayed. If I click on the Load button a third time, the previously loaded list is displayed; click on a fourth time and the new list is displayed.

In other words, it takes two cycles to display the correct list. I am at a loss as to what might be the problem. Other than this issue the code does what I need it to do.

JQuery :: Ajax Call - 403 Forbidden If URL In Content

Oct 15, 2010

Strange behaviour: User enters text into textarea - text includes URL with protocol e.g. [URL]. JSON call fails with 403 forbidden. It seems the the serialised content is being interpreted as a cross domain call (my guess). Any other text works - Even if the user enters "http://www.u", but as soon as the input qualifies as a url, I get a 403.

The code extract:
var formText = $("#contributioncontrol").serialize();
$.getJSON('[URL]',formText, function(response) {
if (response.ERROR != true) {
var output = response.HTML;
$(output).hide().prependTo("#results").fadeIn("slow");}
}

If the user enters http://www.url.com in the textarea on the form then The request looks like this: [URL]. The '/' chars in the line above are replaced by% 3 A % 2 F % 2 F (without spaces - Don't know how to stop browser interpreting the encoded stuff).

And the response like this:
<!DOCTYPE HTML PUBLIC "-//IETF//DTD HTML 2.0//EN">
<html><head>
<title>403 Forbidden</title>
</head><body>
<h1>Forbidden</h1>
<p>You don't have permission to access /API/createcontribution.php on this server.</p>
<p>Additionally, a 404 Not Found error was encountered while trying to use an ErrorDocument to handle the request.</p>
