On my site I have a news page, where users can read part of the news (trimmed with php) and then they click "Read more" to see the full news item. That item then comes up in a popup (using jQuery of course) and should be displayed. To get this to work I'm usingthisby including it like so:

This all works great with that one div. The problem is, my news will be coming from a MySQL-query via PHP in a while-loop and I need this effect applied to every single news item. What I tried is to do this:

how do I make this work? How do I make jQuery open only the news item I'm clicking on? I know it could possibly be done with (this) and maybe children() or something like that? But I'm totaly lost at the momeny, I've tried loads of stuff with the pieces mentioned above but can't get it to work and most times I just "break" the jQuery and the popup won't even come up at all.

When I click on any of the select fields, I always get 3 subsequent alerts, each with the id of the clicked select field. What I would like is to have only 1 alert with the clicked select id, whenever I click it.
I have a set of functions that will transition/fade photos in and out as background images. Easy. But now I would like to run the same functions on a different html page with different photos (each different page represents a different JavaScript array).
I've been reading online on how jQuery methods can be called into functions. So my thought process is to create 2 methods (1 for the original images and the 2nd method for the other images).

Im trying to get 2 elements to execute some effect individually at the same time on a hover.Ive looked at .animate but if I understand it correctly I can do multiple effects but still limited to that single element.[code]So basically Im just trying to get 1st & 2nd on hovers to happen at the same time and 1st and 2nd off hovers to happen at the same time.
View 1 Replies View RelatedI would like to have page which uses a few xhr objects and automatically (after 30 seconds) starts the same few requests again It works for me well in IE7, IE8, but not IE6 (where is in browsing history chosen option "automatically" ). It works there only for first time and I can't set it for circular reloading. It looks like page is reloaded, but xhr objects are not doing their job ...only - as I wrote - for first time after page load.
I have tried a lot of things:

- window.reload(true)
- window.setInterval
- window.location.assign

the situation: I'm building a web page, and the client wants to have three flash galleries on staggered timing (i.e., the first one loads and runs, 4 seconds later the second loads and runs, 4 seconds later, third one loads and runs).
I've been trying to figure out how to use Javascript to handle the initial delay between each object, and the best I can figure is to use an onLoad to start the first flash (Flash1), and then call out a function with setTimeout to start Flash2 4 seconds after Flash1 loads, and the same thing for Flash3. However, my attempts thus far have failed, and all three load up at the same time.

Im having a bit of trouble with the bounce show effect from jquery ui. To see what I mean, check out my development site. Anytime you modify a part in this computer builder, the rigth side gets updated. Right now its removing and adding list items. Problem is when click items too fast, the animation doesnt finish and the next item gets bumped lower and lower.

I have a question, I'm developing my own LightBox with jQuery, and I call 2 function, animate and fadeIn and both of them work with the same element, fadeIn also with 2 elements more, but this isn't problem. And fadeIn I call before animate and here is the issue, it starts animate this element by fadeIn and after it is done, start function animate. But in second part, I call it again, and the element, which I animate in both of them, can't animate by fadeIn because he is visible, so immediately start function animate.

where can i find an example of how jQuery selects objects when using an id selector? i'm asking because i've been using a cross browser snippet to select objects and i was wondering if it's the right move to move from the snippet to jQuery. the snippet checks to see for availabe methods and depending on the one that works, it knows which browser the user is using and selects the object using that method. i also know jQuery is cross browser, so it's kinda implied, just wanna make sure.
