JQuery :: Populating Dynamically-populated Page After Ajax Operation
May 25, 2011
I'm just now trying to get my head around AJAX in general and jQuery's AJAX specifically.I have a table that is generated from php/mysql. A sample of the rendered page can be seen here. I've also attached a text document with the php code that generates the page.What I'm trying to do is, when a user clicks on one of the edit buttons, I want to open a jQuery UI Dialog popup and populate a form with the current information for the class the user clicked on. Then, after the user clicks on a Submit button (and some basic validation), jQuery's ajax() sends the data for processing to a php script. Upon successfully processing the changes to the class I want to close the Dialog popup and show the changes in the table on the main page.[code]

I have 2 drop down list that are populated through mysql. They both contain data upon initial page load. However when you select an option from drop down #1 it populates drop down 2 with data associated to it. Sometimes the 2nd drop down list has selected data already and I need it to be cleared back to the first option when the first drop down is selected.
the following code is what I use to populate the second drop down
$.ajax
({
type: "POST",
data: "company=" + $(this).val(),

I am wondering if I can get the value of a drop down box that was created using ajax.I have a div tag holding the spot on item.php and when the user make a selection it calls my getitem.php which returns a drop down with the populated items.
<option value="0"></option>
<?
while($row = mysql_fetch_array($result))[code].....
So I have no tag handler since they were all created back on the getitem.php page. What is the best way to do this? I would love the have the drop down tags on item.php but how do I dynamically populate the list then?

I have a table with a date field in each row:
The table, and the input id element, are dynamically created from database records and I use jQuery live to initialize the datepicker for each field, like so:
The idea is that when I click in the input field, the datepicker pops up and allows the user to input a date. While the date shows in the input field in the table, the value attribute of the input field is empty. I can't use the getDate() method on the datepicker, since I can't programmatically connect the datepicker element in any particular row with the input element in that row. I tried the onClose method shown below, but that doesn't work either. Has anyone done this successfully?

I am on a team designing the front end of an Intranet application. The
backend guys will be using JSP and AJAX-like functionality to make
server requests that must dynamically change elements on a page.
What is the best way to create and populate tables, which will exist in
floating DIVs (with drag and drop capability)? It only has to work
with IE6.
I know of two ways:
1. Dynamically making the tables using "createElement('<table>')",
"insertRow()", etc.
2. Using innerHTML in the holding DIV, to generate table code inside.
3. Is there another way?
What are the pros and cons of #1 and #2? In terms of speed (some of
these tables are huge)? #2 seems easier to wrap my head around, but
maybe less efficient?

I want fill a select list with the first list on page load, then depending on which option is chosen, fill another select list with the appropriate list. I'd prefer using only javascript!

I've got a database written in MySQL with a bunch of PHP interfacing with it. What I want to do is populate drop down menus on a form from this database.
The way I went around solving my problem is as follows.
Code:
Which calls the function from the search.js file, which performs the following operation:
Code:
With element2 being the appropriate preemtied dropdown box, and addOption defined as follows:
Code:
So far so good. This works and produces the correct list of elements in the first dropdown box if the first dropdown box is the target. Here is where things begin to go wrong: On this form I have an add more elements button which is defined as follows:
Code:
And addElement being defined as such:
Code:
While this does successfully create all the cells I want it to create, when I attempt to select Country from the resulting dropdown, I get an empty drop down wit only the "Search For" present in it.
Firebug then proceeds to flag array in selectorfunc above:
Code:
What i believe is going on is that for SOME reason the newly created drop downs aren't being passed js_countries correctly. Unfortunately I don't know how to fix it.

I'm trying to populate select boxes depending on choices in other select boxes. In my case, the person has to choose a type of fixture type, then a select box with all the models would populate, and then a third select box with the watts have to populate.
In my code, the second select box is populating, but the third one is not. I'm sure that the problem is not in the php, but has to be in the jquery side. I'm a newbie in jquery and javascript.

I am having an issue getting my select boxes working in IE. My current situation is that I have 2 select boxes, 1 for Styles and another for Substyles. Not all Styles have a Substyle, but each Style has a different Substyle, so when should happen is when you select a Style AJAX go and gets all of the matching Substyes for that Style.This actually works in Firefox, Google Chrome, Opera and so on, but does not work in IE.Just to clarify, all of my PHP is working 100% and as far as I am aware my HTML is also fine, I have done some checks with the JavaScript and im 80% sure that the problem lies on line 47.

I have a problem with IE7 (Works fine in FireFox!).
I'm sending a Jquery AJAX POST request to get option values from a PHP script.
The php script returns a bunch of the following:
<option value='x'>xxx</option>
Ajax also sends a value to the PHP script, so if that value matches the option value, the option comes back pre-selected.
On success, the Ajax is to populate the SELECT BOX called 'one', with the data returned from the PHP script.
This works fine in FireFox, but in IE7 I get the following error:
Error: Unexpected call to method or property access.
The full ajax function is as follows:
function getbills(){
var transchk = "";
var tranrelation = $("select#catted_relatesto").val();
var tranrelation = escape(tranrelation);

I have a multiple select box that is dynamically populated based on a selection from another select box. There are 3 possible results:
1. Every click on the parent select box replaces the html of the child <select> with a "Loading..." message. Then it runs an ajax request to a server side page that returns JSON data back to the post-processing function.
In that post-processing function I check to see if any data was returned for that selection.
2. If data was returned, replace the child multi-select with the data.
3. If no data was returned then replace the child multi-select with a default message.
Now the problem I'm seeing. When I select an item from the parent select that I know returns data, the child multi-select seemingly doesn't update, but when I mouse over the select I see the changes.
BUT! On a whim, I created another <div> just to see if it was in fact a problem with the select, so everytime I updated the <select> I also updated this new <div>. Magically it all worked. So what I ended up doing is keeping the <div> there, just set it to display:none and now it works like it "should".
I'm using jQuery.ajax and jQuery.html to handle the processing.

The second menu is populating correctly from the first menu. The third menu doesn't work because it is not pulling the cat1 & cat2 values. I suspect it is the "checkNew" function, which I tried (with limited Javascript knowledge) to copy and alter from the "checkSelected" function.

I have a dropdown (picklist) on the page, and when the user selects one of the company names in the list the onChange event fires and kicks in some AJAX to get the company's details from the database. The details are just the various locations of each company.
The way I am doing it now I have a simple div on the page below the picklist and I am using PHP to draw out the entire HTML, including the values sought from the database, and then just using innerHTML on the div to dump the info in there.
So I have PHP which concats text like:
"<input type="text" name="city" value="$city">"
"<input type="text" name="state" value="$state">"
and then the JS innerHTML's it into the div.
But it strikes me this is not really an efficient way to do this. Should I just have the PHP form an XML doc and then use that to populate the form fields?
If so how do I use the DOM to create text fields on the page, and then populate them with the info returned from the DB?

I am looking for a jquery plug in that will make it easy to enter Hours of Operation ( to indicate when a business is open) as a form element. My current solution is Egor Khmelevs Safari Style Slider [URL]..) but it will not jump to where you click on the slider, and will only allow selection by dragging the pointers.
Is there a way to modify this plug in to accept click events to set the pointers? Or is there a better solution for what I am attempting? My hours of operation slider is just like the last demonstration on that page, except it spans 24 hours.

I have an array of divs, and can do a style change on them:
var Ray = new Array("first", "second", "nth");
function bluRay() {
$('#' + Ray.join(',#')).animate({color: '#00f'}, 600);}
( The divs don't share a class, and it'd be code-heavy to add classes for all the necessary variations on this function. )
How to make the operation on the divs sequential, at say, 500ms intervals?

I have tried this without success:
$("@font-face").css("font-family","myCustomFont");
$("@font-face").css("src","url('myFontLocation')");
trying to emulate the expected CSS3 statement:
@font-face {
font-family: "myCustomFont";
src: url("myFontLocation");
}
Is this possible? If so what is the exact syntax?
Searching found no clear answer, though I ran across Cufon and similar libraries, but I would rather stay in jQuery if possible.

i have following problem: When the user on my website presses a image link, I prevent the default behaviour, and toggle some table rows (show or hide them, depending on the the image src (closed.gif / opened.gif)). Since I got a lot of rows I run over and toggle, the function takes some time to process and the browser "hangs" in the meanwhile. Due to this I want to show the user that the operation is still in progress and want to change the image of the link to a load spinner until it is finished. So I thought that I just have to change the src URL of the image in advance and then start the function, but jQuery is ignoring the line and I don't know why? Here is the code I am using:
$("a[name='changeDisplayModeAll']").click(function(e) {
e.preventDefault();
var newStatus;
var imageSrc = $("img[name='imageChange']").attr('src');
[Code]....
