I'm doing this within SharePoint and I've used the route below because I'm bumping into some issues with other ways and I don't fully understand how all the moving parts work together.
My issue is that I'm attempting to read a simple web service response but when I attempt to locate the element with my selector it returns blank. I would appreciate it if anybody could look at my script below and tell me if they see something missing.[code]...

I am developing a web application in java (jsp's and servlets). For the project I am working on I will need to develop an html data entry screen and the code to load data into the screen, and then save the data back to the back-end database.
How to do the following:
Read the data out of the database (JDBC, no problem) in a servlet.
Put the data into the appropriate form for returning to the data entry screen, which will be a jsp. (Is JSON the right choice for passing the data from the servlet to the jsp?)
In the jsp, parse the returned data and populate the HTML form elements (text fields and combo boxes). When a button is clicked, pull the data out of the form elements and return to a servlet for saving back in the database.

I have a div container that is used to specify where the table I retrieve via ajax is placed $("#div_reveal").html(AjaxResponse). I have tried to add an onSuccess function to update the table function (){ $("table").trigger("update"); } but the table does not sort. When I copy the output table directly into the page (static) it sorts. Therefore, I am assuming that the new table is not being added to the Dom and and is not being "recognized" by tablesorter. Does anyone know of a solution to retrieve and display a full html table via ajax and get tablesorter to sort it.

As a homework assignment, we are being asked to generate a table of images with at least 2 rows and 3 columns from an external javascript function. I've been trying to find some kind of javascript reference for this and I can't. I don't want someone to do it for me.

New to this, worked through the w3c tutorials and am really fascinated by some of the concepts. I'm only familiar with html, css, js (basics), so am trying to keep things as simple as I can for this.
For simplicity I'll use books.xml with a listing of books. Each book has a <title><author><year><price> and <image> element. The images are stored in a folder called "images" a path is listed in the xml document.
Using js and an array I can loop through the xml file and have it extract each node into a table, if I mouseOver a ROW in the table, it displays that listing in a DIV above and I would like it to display the image/thumbnail for that particular listing within another div called thumbnail which is in the same location regardless of which listing you mouseOver.
if (window.XMLHttpRequest)
{// code for IE7+, Firefox, Chrome, Opera, Safari
xmlhttp=new XMLHttpRequest();
}
[Code]....
So the way this looks is there's a grey div. At the top it says listing, and when the body loads it lists the [0] first entry from the array. To the right of this is a small div called thumbnail that is empty and I would like it to load the relevant image from the path in the <image> tag in the xml file.
Below the listing is a table with 4 columns (title, genre, price, image) and an equal number of rows to the number of listings in the xml file. Under the "image" column it just shows the path to the image.
So how do I tie the empty thumbnail div to the listing so it'll just add the path from the xml <image> tag into a <img src="pathnamefromxmldocument">

I have a <div> tag that contains a table of results returned using AJAX. I have an onmouseover on the div so that when the user is viewing the results the div stays visible. An onmouseout is also declared so that when the user goes off of the div, it will disappear after a few seconds. When the user clicks on an entry I perform some logic and close the div.
However the problem occurs when my AJAX returns too many results to display in the set size of my div. When this occurs my div becomes scrollable. When the user is interacting with the scrollable, it seems to fire the onmouseout event because the div disappears.

I would like to be able to generate a table from which I can easily edit the contents of a mySQL database (similar to phpMyAdmin.) In that table I would like to have a button that will open a pop-up, allowing me to edit - and maintain formatting such as apostrophes and line breaks - a long description field. That popup will then populate a hidden input field on its parent with the modified description.
I've got the pop-up opening and its fields are populated using php's GET function (see line 11). The special characters, particularly carriage returns, are messing me up; I can remove them using php's str_replace, but I want to retain them for formatting.

I am trying to display a webpage from another domain and tried to access its elements and I am facing issues with this.
I tried using "iframes" and am facing cross domain issues.
All that I want to do is, set and get the attributes of the elements of the webpage from the other domain (eg: set text field value, get dropdown box values, click button etc)
Is there a way to get this job done?
I thought of browser addons however it will be a browser specific solution.

I have an array of reference points on a canvas which should remain intact and reusable for repeated 'games'. I need a function to make a duplicate of myArray and call it pool, which I can have jQuery manipulate, such as remove indices from, without ever tampering with myArray.
Do I use:
var myArray = ['string1','string2',...]
$(myArray).map(function) {
return this = pool;
})
Or perhaps:
var myArray = ['string1','string2',...]
(function(makepool){function(.map(myArray) {
return this = pool;
});});
Then call:
var pool = ' '
$makepool()
And refer to the new element as $(pool)

Could anyone know the script code for a WEBPAGE ON TOP OF A WEBPAGE? The site was not working anymore, so I can't tell you the link. This is what I saw, When I visited the site (Mainpage) There's just a Welcome Image that shows CLICK HERE TO ENTER. After clicking the link, a loading faded icon appears on top of Welcome Image covering that Welcome Image with Webpages, it's like popping to the center of the page. I don't know if someone of you could understand me. It's like Page on TOP of another Webpage without leaving the 1st page.

I am using the infamous hidden IFRAME trick to manage some image uploading. My server-side ASP page passes back XML to indicate success or failure. It was a snap to grab this in FireFox and parse it using the standard JQuery methods. Then I spent most of an afternoon trying to do the same in IE, I finally found this page and this comment: [url]
JavaScript, IE, XML, IE uses MSXML and an XSL stylesheet to transform the XML to some HTML document that pretty-prints the structure of the XML. That way when you access the iframe document you indeed access an HTML document that IE renders. However IE stores the original XML document in an XMLDocument property of the HTML document object so to access the XML data (and not the HTML document) you can do e.g. var xmlDoc = window.frames.frameName.document.XMLDocument; [...]
The solution thus ended up as follows:
From there I can use all of the normal JQuery code to traverse the XML. Anyway I am not sure if this is an IE bug, a JQuery bug and/or presumably specific to this wacky IFRAME scenario versus a normal document.

Here is the code I am running:
The url is a very straightforward servlet that queries a database and returns either Y or N. That part is working fine. The first alert shows Y or N just as it is supposed to.
However, the second alert is always showing Turbo, as though the if statement is not able to compare properly. This is probably javascript rather than specific to jQuery, but can anyone see where I'm going wrong?

I am trying to get two values from a web service response.
The web service was called using jquery $ajax:
$.ajax({
url : "http://localhost:3032/ufs/integration/copymoveTerm",
type : "POST",
dataType : "xml",
[Code]....
All I want to do is to get the values of UNDO_COUNT and MSG into separate variables.
Here is the jquery I am trying to use:
function undoSuccess(xmlData, status, xmlResponse)
{
$(xmlResponse).find('res:OUTPUT').each(function () {
var undoCount = $(this).attr('res:UNDO_COUNT).text();
var msg = $(this).attr('res:MSG).text();
});
}
I have tried it with and without the name space "res:". I have tried it with xmlData and with xmlResponse I have tried changing the web service so that UNDO_COUNT and MSG were elements in their own right or were attributes of OUTPUT all without success it just bypasses the initial find on OUTPUT.
