JQuery :: Make Animated Gifs Restart Each Time They Appear In A Slideshow
Oct 18, 2011
I've got a slideshow which has animated gifs in it. But the timing goes out after a few slides. I need to find out how to get each gif to restart when it is shown but without having to re download the image each time. The website address is below, the slide show is just below the body text.
i have an animated gif (a circle being filled) as a slidebullet for the active slide. It works just fine when u dont touch the controlls, but if i click another bullet it does not restart the gif animation when switching to the gif on that bullet, so it looks really cheap.. Is there a jQuery (or another) way of restarting the animation from the beginning when manually switching bullet/slide?
I'd like to write Javascript that stops animated gifs from animating.
On Firefox, at least, window.stop(); does the trick, although it stops everything on the page and is kind of unpredictable. If I connect it to the onload event, sometimes only half the page will be displayed. Does the onload even fire before rendering?
Does anyone know a reasonable way to accomplish my original goal of stopping animating gifs from animating?
I used a javascript function to pass a php variable to a pop up window. The problem is that when the new widow opens the old main page's animated gifs stop cycling. I have to re-load the page to get them working again once the pop up is closed. Does anyone know what the problem might be?
Does anyone have an explanation for why animated .gifs might not animate in FF, Chrome, etc.? Only IE does it right for me.
I suspect it might have something to do with tables squeezing the graphic (if the .gif is inside a table with a 100% width cell... but even giving the cell with the .gif a width doesn't seem to help.)
Is it true?
I realise tables are not best used for this purpose, but did this also happen in the good old tables days?
I am trying to make a simple image change involving an animated gif using javascript. After 5 seconds, the original image (which is simply a transparent pixel gif) changes to an animated gif.
in the body:
Code: <!DOCTYPE html PUBLIC "-//W3C//DTD XHTML 1.0 Transitional//EN" "http://www.w3.org/TR/xhtml1/DTD/xhtml1-transitional.dtd"> <html xmlns="http://www.w3.org/1999/xhtml">
[Code]...
I know this isn't a problem with the gif itself, because displaying the gif in firefox does not produce any issues. Does anyone know why these problems are occurring in firefox? I'd like not to have to use a broken src link to make it work, and it's weird that that's a way to solve the animation issues.
I am working on some JavaScript, that amongst other things does searches in an index. The search can take a couple of seconds, and I would like to disable the form button that the user clicked to trigger the search. In addition I would like an animated GIF to appear, visualizing that a search process is ongoing.
My problem is: While the procedure that implements the search is executed, the browser window is not refreshed. The button stays in "down" mode, the gif freezes.
Is there some command I could insert in between my code statements that lets the browser refresh it's window's contents?
I'm trying to get use of the following JQuery example: Animated Boxes Example
So I wrote the following code trying to make a gallery from the example above:
The TestAnimeScroller.js Script is as following:
As you can see from the code above I'm using the webserive only for testing the scroller for ajax calls problems. It has only the Hello World default web method.
However every thing works fine except that the images are shaking abit whilescrolling to the left.I tried many things but it was no use.I prefer to make a scroller from scratch rather than use a plug-in so I could make custom things easily...I'm using Jquery 1.4.2
I created a little animation of a photo-quality little toaster revolving around a center point. I would like to create an animated button using javascript that uses the images of the animation that revolves on a mouseover. I don't want to use Flash because 1) it seems to be on its way out and 2) it wouldn't be Ipad compatible. Would it be as simple as finding a slideshow script and speeding it up to 24 fps? Also, I'm thinking that the images should be preloaded. That can be done in javascript right?
I am trying to have text that is placed over an image cross fade into another image with text placed over it. I am using jquery and the images are cross fading perfectly. The text isn't working so well and in Firefox it seems to be very choppy and even sometimes the text just disappears and then there is a blank slide without any text or the text is showing up on the wrong image. Here is the code I have so far:
HTML Code: <div id="slides"> <div class="slide"> <img src="_images/placeholder3.jpg" width="695" height="195" alt="A Passion for Service" /> <div class="slideText"> <h1>And A Different Heading</h1> <p>With the appropriate solution for each client, we provide biomedical engineering and information technology services to suit your needs.</p> [Code]...
I am new to jquery and am going through the Sitepoint book "JQuery: Novice to Ninja. I am using the crossfade code from the book and I tried to apply it to the text as well.
i am now playing with the time. how to make the time move in downwards, i mean a countdown like format, e.g the time will start countdown and end in 2 days? here's my initial noob code for creating time
SlidShow to show more than 6 images at a time. Here is the development link: [URL] - there are 12 pictures but only 6 are showing there. Same with [URL] where is the setting to expand it to show ALL images I specify, not just the first 6?
I am looking to build a slideshow (basic, with next/previous options, e.g jquery cycle) but I would like it to get the images from a specific folder. So, whenever I want the slideshow updated, I would simply drop the files in a folder and that would do it.
Would this require a php script? If yes, direct me to somewhere to find out more...Or if there are other ways.
I created an image gallery which displays 63 images in a slideshow. The problem is that the show was slow because each image loaded one at a time during the show. No problem right? I just did a preload script. But then the user has to sit for 5 minutes waiting for 63 images to download! My images are about 640x480 and average 100kb. Is this too much for one page to load? Should I load my slideshow into differerent windows? If so, don't I have the same problem with my loading time?
When you click on the link to a web site, close the app, then open the app again, it displays the web site instead of the app. How do you get back to the app?
However, I want to add two buttons: Stop and Resume. I would think that interval needs to be stopped and restarted, but I do not know where or how to add that.
I'd like to know it there is a more or less universal way to stop and restart a running script. I'm not a programmer but like to use rotating banner or slideshow scripts on my sites. I've had some complaints from visitors about not being able to stop the slideshow/rotation action. Is there a script function I can use in conjunction with some start/stop buttons in the body of a webpage?
$("#n_link1").add("#n_link2").add("#n_link3").add("#n_link4").animate({ "height": "65"}, { duration: "slow" }); //Change everything back to 65px $(id).animate({ "height": "105"}, { duration: "slow" }); //Change the clicked button to 105px
But the thing is now.. first it sets all to 65px so theres a white gap in my website after that it changes the button i clicked to 105px fixing the gap
I am javascript newbie. I have a slideshow on my site and it works fine if I type in the images for it to display, however I want to get the image files path from my database, so it shows all the photos.
Here is the code I am working with. I want to make all the image paths "images/photos/2.jpg" come from my database. I have tried adding php into it but it doesn't work.
My problem is when the page loads, the javascript slideshow starts to play even if the image has not yet finished loading... in effect the first image is not displayed since the image is still loading..
what i hopefully want is to start the slide show when all the images has loaded so that the slideshow will run smooth. code...
