I'm writing a function that substantially load a given image making a fadeout/faidin waiting 'till the complete load. The function is named "loadImage" and I would like use it in the following way:
$('#image img').fadeOut().loadImage(src).attr("src",src).fadeIn();
In order to make the image disappear, load... change the attribute "src" of the image and then re-appear. The code for the function is:
(function($) {
$.fn.loadImage = function(src) {
var img = new Image();
$(img).attr('src', src).load(function() {
return this;
});
}})(jQuery);
But when I run it I get the following error:
$("#image img").fadeOut().loadImage(src) is undefined
I think that the function don't return a "valid" object to make it chainable, isn't it?
I am looping through an array of objects and creating an <li> element for each one and appending to a <ul> in the DOM. Works fine.During the looping I am also attached a 'details' object as data for the list element:$(thisListItem).data('details',{<obj>});Later, I am using the selector:$('ul#images_list li')to attach an on click function for each <li> element.In the click handler I am reading the data 'details' object for the <li> element:dataDetails = $.data(lotImage,'details');and, using the jAlerts plugin, I am opening a jPrompt which asks for the user to enter a price.
The jPrompt call includes a callback which receives the entered value as a parameter. The callback uses the value to 'post' the updated value, via $.ajax, to a server side unction.After OK is clicked in the jPrompt popup, in Firebug, I get an error that the dataDetails is undefined and it lists the line number in the click handler where I originally read the data object from the <li> element.I don't really understand why it should care after the click event has fired and the jPrompt callback has been invoked
reSplit is used to return an object from a string of name/value pairs.
pass reSplit()your own delimeters or use the defaults.
String.prototype.reSplit= function(d1,d2){
if(!d1) d1= /s*;s*/
if(!d2) d2= /s*=/;
var Obj= new Object, tem;
var A= this.split(d1);
var L= A.length;
for(var i= 0; i< L; i++){
if(!A[i]) continue;
tem= A[i].splat(d2);
Obj[tem[0]]=tem[1];
}
return Obj;
};
String.prototype.splat= function(delim){
var ax,L;
var d= this.match(delim);
if(!d) return this;
else{
ax= d.index;
L= d[0].length;
return [this.substring(0,ax), this.substring(ax+L), d[0]];
}
};
I have three buttons set up using onClick. These buttons are used to display the differing results from an object. They work except the results are displayed on a new page. Ive been trying to get them to display the results in the same page using a div. The problem is I cant get them to work properly i.e the result wont display at all in the div area.
Here is my code
Code:
<body>
<input type="button" value="emp1" onClick="document.write(ger.getFullName())">
<input type="submit" value="emp2" onClick="document.write(tom.getFullName())">
<input type="submit" value="emp3" onClick="document.write(mar.getFullName())">
[code]....
How do i get the results to display in the div?
i've seen this code at work which i do not get.
var Key = {
'Number1': 49, 'Number2': 50, 'Number3': 51, 'Number4': 52, 'Number5': 53, 'Number6': 54, 'Number7': 55,
'Number8': 56, 'Number9': 57, 'Number0': 48,
};
I need to return a var element from Key based what a var containing a string contains e.g
var string = "1"; an example
return Key.Number1
How would I do this using a for loop and not having multiple if statements
I am confused about what the return keyword is actually returning when returning an object, a primitive, or a function. My confusion is compounded by the fact that I'm not sure if a function is an object or not. According to the book JavaScript Programmer Reference it is: "All functions in JavaScript are first class objects , meaning they can be passed around like any other object reference. In fact, regardless of how they are created, functions are instances of a global object named (aptly) Function."
However, someone else states that a function is not an object. An object is a set of primitives and references. A function is executable code. Functions become objects through the use of the new operator. Yet, in the book I mentioned, it says you don't need the new keyword to execute the function as an object, as it already inherits from the object Function when the function keyword is used:
function functionName([argname1 [, ...[, argnameN]]])
{
statements;
}
So there's one source of contradiction. Now the bigger issue is what is going on when the return keyword is used. Notice the Validation() function returns an object as its last expression. This technique is common, where you return an object which contains functions in form of object notation. I believe this is done so that we create a closure so that when the intepreter exits the Validation() method, since we created a closure by returning an object, which contains the inner functions addRule and getRule, the local variables of Validation() are not destroyed, given that we can reference them through the two inner functions that make use of the local variables of the outer function. So when we use the return keyword on an object literal, and then exit the function, when we call one of the inner functions as we do later:

My coding returns the json array and the object has special characters which i am not able to retrieve the data in my coding.

I am trying some simple things with javascript and trying to use it in a object oriented way. However I am now facing a problem in which I can't access an object variable from an object method. I am using jQuery.
My code is as follows;
Code:
My problem is that the variable msg1 does not work when accessed from function called from the jQuery get function. I get the message undefined. Therefore I am wondering, is there a way how I can access msg1 of my object instance from the get function of jQuery?
I am trying to alert the ID of a particular menu that I have clicked on and I am getting object,object. Instead of the name of the ID.

I have two result. SelectableChildren: groupHead.nextAll(".SimpleButton") and SelectableChildren: groupHead.nextAll(".SimpleButton").next().children(".SimpleButton")
I would like to combine them into one object so that I can bind a handle to them in one loop. $.each(combineResult, function(index, object){ ... })
I have to make them in one, so that I can pass it around.
I just got this script for a countdown on a website and I got it to work locally but when I upload it to the server i get the error "index.html:22 Uncaught TypeError: Object [object Object] has no method 'fancycountdown'".
I have checked to make sure all other javascript files are loading and they are and I can't figure out whats wrong. You can see it [URL]
I have a problem.I want Internet explorer support to my site but I cant using json so I want return data array format from php. Is there a solution of this problem?
My php array : $myArray=array("caption"=>"number one","value"=>"Jquery");
I have this simple code for change combos based on selection.
$("#manufacturer_id").change(function(){
$.ajax({
url: 'index.php?route=catalog/product/getConsignaManufacturer&token=<?php echo $token; ?>&manufacturer_id=' + $('#manufacturer_id').val(),
[Code].....
This works perfectly. Now the mail combo have a option value="0" with title "Please select one" so if not change happen then the second combo never is activated. How when the user select the first option "Please select one" in the main combo (#manufacturer_id) I can disable the second combo?
I have researched this error/bug/mistake thoroughly with no success. I must be the only one experiencing it. Also, this takes place on every site I develop with jQuery ajax. It happens regardless of whether I use .get, .post, .ajax etc. Problem: The result returned to my ajax function always has a zero (0) appended to it.

I have a question concerning :contains(). I use it in the following manner:
if($("div:contains('Built From')", $(itemProps)))
{
//Do stuff.
}
itemProps is DOM Element. It has a a div inside it which class is always something else however that div has either "Built From" or "Builds Into" as a text. Inside itemProps there is no other div with those words. I want to know which of those texts the div within itemProps contains. However this bit of code seems to always return true. Some goes for when I use the text "Builds Into". Even when the text is not in the div.
I have a understanding problem with this:
var loadData = function(){
$.post('/search.php', { myvar: 12345 }, function(data){
$.each(data, function(key, val) {
// here I have to validate my data I retrieved
if(first condition){
return false;

I am trying to get a response from a webservice, but it seems it cannot be parsed properly (this is the XML error; XML Parsing Error: no element found Location: moz-nullprincipal:{11c9829b-3cae-4d8d-bdfe-265c905cb82e} Line Number 1, Column 1:)
$.get(linkWS, {}, function(li_data, li_status, li_Request){
callback(li_data, li_status, li_Request);
}, "xml" );
In the Firebug response field I don't see any data at all.
I'm trying to make a call to .ajax and as a result set a value in a hash (for another call to jquery-ui)
I get the data coming back fine, could put in in a text field in html but not the hash where I want it.
Here below are the parts of my code that I'm using
//setting up datepicker
$(courseStartDateHtmlId).datepicker({

defaultDate : ($(courseStartDateHtmlId).val() != "") ?

I thought that the value of startDate would end up as the defaultDate param for datepicker. No luck. Only an obscure little message in firebug console: "missing: before statement"
how can create in jquery a div out the page and return again with click a button???
View 8 Replies View RelatedI have an input textbox that I am using to create (and populate) paragraph tags below it depending on the content that is in the textbox at that very specific time. There is an add button to the right of the textbox that adds the contents and clears it for another entry.
The reason I need keyup for this is because I need to get the value of the textbox on the fly. With the example I've enclosed, it seems to output every key event since page load, and I don't want that. I want the result from the last keypress, which I will then add and start again.
