JQuery :: Get A Fixed Element To Stay In Place?

Nov 24, 2011

My problem is that my site has a fixed element in the right side but when looking at the site from a HI-resolution device like TV or something, the element moves about 1000px to right. I want it to scroll down when I scroll the site down. But I want it to stay in the same place on x line.angsti.net if you need more information.

JQuery :: MouseEnter/MouseLeave - Can't Get Div To Stay Hidden While Mouse Is Over Element?

Nov 11, 2011

My design involves two "layers". On the first layer, I have a circle, with some links in the middle. This is just a div with a background image, and some text in the center. Then I have another circle, same size and shape, on top of the first one, covering it up. This circle just has a one or two word title on it. When a user hovers over the title with their mouse, I want that div to disappear, showing the links underneath it. When you mouse out, the circle with the title should show back up.

Here is the basic HTML:

[Code]...

So what happens, is if you mouse over, the circle fades away just fine. But if you move your mouse at all again, even the slightest bit, the event is triggered again. So the title fades in and then out again real quick. Even if you actually mouse completely out of the CircleTitle div, it still triggers one last time instead of just fading in.

Because mouseenter keeps track of the mouse being over that element, and then that div disappears, it's probably causing some problems. But I don't know any other way to get this to work! If someone has some ideas,

DIV Element Positioning - Map Does Not Stay At Top 0px

Aug 31, 2010

I have problem here I have two div as below:
[CODE <div id="left" style="top:0px;left:0px; width:150px;">
<div id="title1" style="top:auto;left:0px; padding: 4px; overflow: auto; background-color: #8EB4E3;">
<table border="0" cellspacing="0" cellpadding="0">
<tr><td></td></tr>
<tr>
<td>OUR SYSTEM</td><td width="11%" height="10"><div align="right">
<img src="../fleet/images/logos/<?=$fleetID?>.png" width="100" height="50" /></div></td>
</tr></table></div>
</div>
<div id="right" style="top:0px;left:250px; width:800px; height:100%">Map goes here.
</div>[/CODE]
The problem I am having is that when the div id="left" does not have any inner div then the right div where it contains map is at 0px. But the moment I put id="title1" in the div id="left" then the map in div id="right" does not stay at the top 0px and it goes down by quite many pixels.

JQuery :: Data Added To Element Available In One Place, But Not Another?

Aug 10, 2010

I have a jQuery plugin that creates a list of news items and appends the <ul> to the element(s) calling the plugin. Each <li> gets a document key added to its data.

A brief snippet of the code:

(function
($){
$.fn.NewsList=function
(options){

[Code].....

None of the <li>'s have the data attached to them. I've tested the selector shown above in line 3, and it does pick up the correct <li>'s. The data is not visible in Firebug as it is on the other page. Both functions are called after document.ready and insert the elements after page load.

The onlydiscernible differences between these two circumstances is that in the working case, the plugin is called against an ID, whereas in the nonworking instance, it is called against a CLASS. In addition, in the working case, only one DIV is affected, and in the nonworking case, there are two DIVs that receive the treatment.

I use a Time Date Picker Javascript code [URL]. It works fine with a placement problem. When you click one of the last pair input fields on the page, a drop-down list will appear from the input field. In my case, the drop-down list shows on the bottom of a page instead. I can't find the code controls the location of the list.

JQuery :: Elements Stay Hidden Irrespective Of The Conditions?

I am trying to make a carousel of sorts. I am kind of stuck with hiding and displaying the next and precious buttons once a div moves to the far left and right of its container. I think i have everything correct regarding calculating the widths but for some reason when you click the buttons, elements stay hidden irrespective of the conditional comments which should dictate when they should be hidden or shown. Here is a link to what i have thus far. Click the MoveLeft and MoveRight buttons. [URL]

JQuery :: Trying To Create Dropdown Menu - Stay Open While Hovered?

May 26, 2010

I know this is simple and has been done before. I'm trying to create a dropdown menu for secondary links. I want it to appear when you hover over a primary link. I can't do a simple .hover function with two handlers because once the user moves the mouse to go into the secondary menu, it will slide back away.

The easy solution is to put that secondary menu within the selector of the primary menu - but it's not possible with my setup.

JQuery :: Fixed Header With Scroll?

Nov 24, 2011

I'm designing a one page portfolio site. I was able to make this work when I redid it last year but I'm having problems again. I have a fixed header with the content scrolling underneath it. I want the user to be able to click a link and it eases to that point. I got this script from web designers wall. I am such a novice with jquery I don't know where to begin to make this work. I'm not sure how to call from the link in the header to the element on the page. The thing is, inside the contain div underneath the header I have split it into two columns and i've had to rename the divs, I don't know if this is what is causing the problem. For example, in the navigation it is called "work" but I need to call it to I'm guessing "content-work"?? Also would the fact that the jquery loading in the page from google is 1.7.0 while the script is only written in 1.4.2...does that matter?? If I need to post my css I will.

JQuery :: Fixed Navigation Bar Script?

Oct 11, 2011

Here is the test site for my website: [URL]... While everything works and looks good, if you minimize the site down, once the links move under the Roots logo and Transparent white image, they are unclickable. It is as if they are sliding under the image. I originally had the white bar go across the entire screen, but I had to move it, when I noticed this was causing the error. Shrinking it down, allowed me to reach those buttons.

At first I had a problem with conflicting jQuery scripts, but then I figured that out by added the no conflict script. Now that it is working, I cant seem to order them properly. I have tried moving the scripts around, but this has come to no avail; I can't get the logo to drop under the black navi bar.

The script for the images comes from the supersize.css background script and the navi bar comes from the jixedbar script.

JQuery :: Scroll Text Around Fixed Images?

Jan 11, 2010

Is jquery the right language to do this in? If it is, can someone point me to a relevant tutorial or example to get me started? Iwantthe text of my site to flow around a fixed background image while scrolling. Doesn't sound too hard but I can't find anything that will do that. I'm starting to think it may need tobe a flash solution. I'ts easy to float the text and some sandbag divs to make the text wrap around the image, but there is no CSS solution to make that text flow around those sandbags while scrolling. Here's a cap with the sandbags outlined to give you a visual of what I'm trying to do:

JQuery :: The Result Of OffsetParent() When Position Is Fixed

Jan 20, 2010

I noticed something odd yesterday—or at least something I didn't expect. When I call offsetParent() on an element with position: fixed, I get back a reference to the body tag rather than the nearest positioned element in the DOM. Is this expected behavior? If so, why?

I am including some sample code that will illustrate what I'm talking about: a relatively positioned div with one absolutely positioned and one fixed positioned child. Load the example in a browser that supports window.console and you'll see log statements showing the result of a call to offsetParent() for each. I would expect both the absolute and fixed position divs to return the relatively positioned one as their offset parents, but offsetParent says the fixed position div's offset parent is the body element.

I saw this behavior with both jquery 1.3.2 and 1.4, and in Safari4.0.4 (6531.21.10) and Firefox 3.5.7 on a Mac running OS X 10.6.2.

JQuery :: Animate And Click Together - When The User Clicks On The Div The Image Should Stay In The Hover Position

Jun 2, 2009

I've been looking for an "Ajax CMS" but decided to learn jQuery to learn how to code it myself in order to earn some geek-girl cred among my male colleagues. I've learn a lot about jQuery in a week but as you can imagine I still have a lot to learn.

I have successfully animated an image (move to the left and increase opacity) when the mouse hovers a div and reset the image (move it back to its original position and reset the opacity) when the mouse move outside the div. So far so good...

Here comes the question: What I need to do -and don't know how to - is when the user clicks on the div the image should stay in the hover position while still being able to hover any other divs and activate the animation normally.

When a different div is clicked the previous "Clicked" div should return (animate) to its original position and the new "Clicked" div should stay in the hover position. Content will be loaded when the divs are clicked but there won't be page refresh since I'm loading the content by using the load funtion of jQuery.

I'm including the code:

JQuery :: .animate Wont Transition From Fixed To Absolute Positioning?

May 16, 2011

Because of the nature of my page, I would like to animate a div from a fixed postion when someone first visits the site to an absolutely position location using after clicking a menu item using .animate and the easing effects. This part seems to work fine, however, when I click on the "home" button again, the div will not move back to the original fixed position. The div just sticks to the top of the page. My assumption is that the .animate scriptdoesn't' know how to interpret/find the fixed position location. Is there a way to make this work?
