Just after upgrading from v1.4.3 to v1.4.4 I started receiving this javascript error on the console, but apart from the update, I didn't do any code modifications. If I follow the console link, it takes me to this point in the source:

I am trying to setup a form with radio buttons. Each radio button has an OnClick event. When a radiobutton is clicked the current set of radio buttons will be replaced with a new set using document.createElement("input"). Each new radio button needs the same onclick event addedas in the initial set of radio buttons. I first tried:
element.setAttribute('onclick', MyFunction(value));
This, however, will somehow automatically trigger the onclick event! I searched on the internet and found this as the solution:

element.setAttribute('onclick', new_onclick);
This will give a "Object" is undefined error!
this script updates an image on a page and resets the class name of a link. Works fine in Mozilla browser. However, the setAttribute method in the second function doesn't work in IE. Is there a known bug connected with this?

View 1 Replies View RelatedI'm in the process of migrating a script to use DOM core methods but I've hit a roadblock in the aforementioned browser. The following code snippet illustrates what I'm basically trying to do, it really is incredibly basic!

I'm then positioning the element on the page using appendChild(). Everything works perfectly on Firefox 1, IE5+, Opera 8, Konqueror 3.3.1 (Linux) but not in Opera 7.54. I suspect the element is being created as associated styling on #placeholder is being applied (just some padding and borders) but the image itself is not being displayed. I assume therefore that the problems lies with setAttribute()?
This seems like the sort of problem that others would have encountered, but I haven't been able to find mention of it anywhere.

'celda2' is a table cell. This works with FF but not with IE. I solved this using a comment from here for the 'name' attribute, like this:

But I would like to put it in a function to make it general for any element that has the 'onclick' property. Is there any other way to set the 'onclick' attribute & to be understand by IE & FF?
NOTE: I also found that I can not set 'colspan', I have to set colSpan. Also, I can not set 'class' I have to use the canonical method with 'object.className=...'

this works, but I the script I am working on is going through every DIV with a certain class and adding links to the div, I want the button to change something within the div where it is located so I need to pass the id of the parent div. However, it wont work?!?! the link appears in the right place on the page when i remove the line newP.setAttribute("href","http:[url]......);and if i view the source the link is <a>Click here</a> (without any href) so there's got to be something wrong with that line but i don't know what it is.I'm using firefox.
It works OK in IE and Moz, but in Opera the change of the attribute's value works on once, first time. No error. That confuses me. Why works only once? Any ideas? Code:

I'm trying to create a function that will add an attribute to specified tags. As the title says, it works great in FF and not at all in IE7. Probably the first question you'll ask after you see my code is "why?" Well, I've got a form with over 100 form fields in it, and if I can avoid manually adding an attribute to all of them, I'll take the JS route.

I'm trying to "progressively enhance" one of my surveys using javascript. Basically, I have rating scales that make use of radio buttons as each point on the scale. Each radio button occupies its own cell in a table. I wrote some functions that will highlight cells on mouseover in a color corresponding to its position on the scale (e.g. the lowest point is red, the midpoint is yellow, the highest point is green). When a radio button is clicked, the background of the button's cell and preceding cells in the same row will be colored accordingly. The functions are working well in FireFox and Chrome (I just have to add a few lines using the addEvent function to make it compatible with IE).
The effect looks a lot nicer when I add a function that makes the visibility of the radio buttons hidden.
However, I want to make sure that there is a fallback option in case the functions that color the cells don't work for whatever reason. I would not want the radio buttons hidden in this case.
Is there a method whereby I can call the "hideRadiobuttons" function only if the other functions are successfully executed?

I am Having an account information page which needs to be validated,but the problem is i want each error message to appear under its respective input field. I had tried using errorPlacement but it is showing all error messages at one div id which i had assigned.Is there any way to display error messages under its respective text box(input field) ???

I'm currently rewriting all my ajax calls to use the jquery method (much cleaner code! ) and have declared a default ajaxError function, shown below:

However, now I have a few ajax calls where I want to declare an error function in the ajax call. I was hoping that by declaring an error function in the ajax call, it would replace the default error call I have defined. But that does not appear to be the case, as I continue to first get my ajax function error call, then I also see the above code execute.
I tried calling event.stopImmediatePropagation() from within my ajax error function hoping that it would stop further events firing (ie: the default error event) but that didn't do anything except tell me in firefox that "event" was undefined.
I was hoping I wouldn't have to go through and define an error function to EVERY ajax call.
I am a jquery newbie and trying to make a template switcher function. Here is what I have so far: [URL]. If I click on "login page" or "member page" first, and then click on "Template 1" or "Template 2", it wont work. IE gave me "permission denied" js error. FF didn't give me error, but nothing happened. Is it because after we click on the login or member page, the DOM elements has changed, so it doesn't work?

I am using jquery.ajax() to make a POST call to web server which returns HTTP 201 response for successful creation of object at server. Sorry but I can't get the very first tutorial to work. I put the custom.js in a test_jr directory in htdocs. I also put the starterkit.html file in the same directory. I tried clicking on the [URL] and I get the starterkit.html page. If I click on the "some link" it doesn't do anything. What am I missing? There are syntax errors in my editor starting on the line with the asterisks* Why is there an error there? It looks like it closes the click function?
