JQuery :: Display All The Info User Has Chosen On The Form?
Jul 9, 2010
i'm trying to make a script which display all the info user has chose on the form before submission. now every thing is working as i expected, i have only one problem and it's with the checkbox element. the script is displaying only 1 option and not all the option that has been chosen .
this is the code for the specific checkbox -
$("p#dialog-parts").html($('input:checkbox[name=parts]:checked').val());
what do i need to change in order to show all the checked checkboxes and not only one?
I am building a form with ColdFusion, HTML, and will be using some Javascript, and I wnt the javascript to tell one form object to display itself when a certain option is chosen from a <select> tag.
<cfquery name="getCategories" datasource="#mydatasource#" username="#myusername#" password="#mypassword#"> SELECT * FROM categories WHERE type = 'cat' ORDER BY id </cfquery> <cfform action="engine.cfm" method="post" format="html"> <table cellpadding="0" cellspacing="0"> <tr><th colspan="2">New Category</th> </tr><tr> <td>Category Type:</td> <td><select name="type"> <option value=" "></option> <option value="cat">Main Category</option> <option value="sub">Sub Category</option> </select></td></tr> <tr><td>Name:</td> <td><cfinput type="text" name="title" size="20" maxlength="100" required="yes" message="A name for the category is required."> </td></tr> <tr><td>Parent Category:</td><td> <cfselect enabled="Yes" name="parentcat" multiple="no" query="getCategories" value="id" display="title" queryPosition="below"> <option value=" "></option></cfselect> </td></tr><tr> <td colspan="2"><cfinput type="submit" name="submit" value="Submit" validate="submitonce" validateat="onserver,onsubmit"></td> </tr></table></cfform>
I want the <cfselect> tag to display on if Sub Category is selected on the first <select> tag. I expect that it will use the onchange attribute but other than that I have no idea.
I'm just starting up in web design and I have an interesting challenge that I'm hoping can be solved w/java script. I have a site with an application form. When the form is to be submitted, the form data needs to be emailed to the correct person to handle that particular application. However, that can't be determined by anything specific in the form. It can only be determined by the link that they clicked on to get to the form. I really don't want to have 22 identical forms with just a different EmailTo addie, which is what the previous site developer did. Someone please tell me this can be done w/java script? If not w/java script
1). Once my form posts, all the information stays in the post. How do I get it to blank. Is this where I set cache to false or is that something else? 2). I am using classic ASP and once I do my insert to sql server I retrieve the new record's ID, how do I get that returned back as part of the post? Some background: I am trying to submit a form, pull the id, and then requery all records for a user and display them in a div below the blank form without recycling the page.
I have two arrays (States, Cities) I am trying to allow the user to chose one from a select form (Choice) and then have the values of the chosen array displayed in a alert(). Obviously I could just write an if statement and display the required content depending on whether the value selected == States or Cities. But this project is just a placeholder project for me to figure out one aspect of a much larger project I am working on. And it is important for the result to be chosen dynamically as in the final project I won't know the values that the select field is being filled with.What I need to do is take the value returned from the select field (Choice) and turn that into the name of the array and display that. If I use this code
PHP Code:
alert(States);
then it returns the values of that array. But like I said I need to be able to dynamically select what array to display based on users input
PHP Code:
alert(document.getElementById("Choice").value);
returns the value chosen. How can I take the value chosen and actually display the value of the array with that same name. In other words let JS know that I don't literally want it to display the value chosen but rather the value chosen is the name of the array I want it to display?
PHP Code:
1. Pseudo code 2. x = document.getElementById("Choice").value;
I would like to disable a check box depending on whether 1 of 3 radio buttons is chosen by the user. As I am a js noob, I don't have any beginning code to start with.
I want to know how I could direct the user to a html document based upon which option I have chosen in the list (see above). So for example...
If I have chosen '1' in the list (see above), then when I submit the form, I will be directed to a page detailing information related to option '1'. If I have chosen '2' in the list (see above), then when I submit the form, I will be directed to a page detailing information related to option '2' etc.
I am trying to use the jquey datepicker. I want to show the date chosen by the user in a <span> element with a particular format. However my code maintains the default format. What am I doing wrong?
I don't know if I can/should do this w/ JavaScript on the client or can/should this be done on the server - and if so what language would be best?
Here's my goal: I am asking users 4 questions - depending on the one selected - that answer creates a profile and that profiles stays with them throughout the site.
E.G.; if (women under 30) is selected this information will stay on the site throughout w/ content detailed for this group.
I created the following javascript to display info when you choose from a dropdown:
When you choose the second one and then the third one the second choice does not disappear and it displays both. How can i refresh in between each one so that is displays only one?
I'm currently working on an AJAX chat room (jpfchat), which is basically phpfreechat integrated with Joomla. The right column of the room shows current users in the room and refreshes dynamically via AJAX so when new users come in, everyone's session shows the new visitor. I want to be able to customize the script so it pulls custom user info from the Joomla DB. I'm attempting to do this using AJAX.
I located the part of the script that generates the list of usernames. Basically it's a 'for' loop that spits out html using javascript and the JSON response. I've appended a line to this section to execute my custom script. The problem I'm having is that while everything works great on IE, it only works on Safari if I DON'T use asynchronous and it DOESN'T work on EITHER Safari or Firefox if I DO use asynchronous.
I found a web site that when uploading a file that could show status info.
As the attached image showed.
It seems that it is using pure javascript + dom only. But I can't found that javascript support displaying transfer info, including file size, transfer rate, etc. How can I archvie the simliar effect.
I'd like to create a quick and dirty validation method for a form. It's not meant to be very secure.
The way I picture it working is this - there is an input field that asks for a password. If the user types in the password correctly, the "submit" div tag will change from "none" to "block". , which will display the submit button. I just am not familiar with JS enough to know if that's possible.
I don't get any pleasing results... in the file, there are 'quoted printable' characters that are displayed as their corresponding hex value, and their encoding seems to be in windows-1256. I've tried messing around with contentType but didn't get any results.
I cannot modify the '.eml' files, so I have to load and process them in jQuery (hopefully). So is there some sort of library or built-in function that I can use?
So, for example, if someone chooses "California" out of the State list (select box), the City list next to it gets updated with all of the cities in California.
I have a Cisco ASA that I use as a proxy server as such. I have a internal site that it will not pass credentials to so I was looking for a way to do that. Not being a site developer the only way I can come up with is to maybe pass it by using a cookie to store the password and ID. Below is the code I am trying to use. I can create the cookie with the code below but it will not change the PATH or the Domain for some reason. Also I do not think it is reading from the cookie not sure why. Basically I need it to set the cookie with the user info and then grab the info from the cookie to auto log the user in to the internal site.
<script type="text/javascript" language="JavaScript"> <!-- function writeCookie( ) { var username = document.form.username.value; // Get the user's name
i know that there is a mailto: script to use but it is unsecure and all that, so what would be the best way to go about sending form information to an email address in javascript?
I have two forms (in two different webpages) all with radio buttons. A user cannot select more than one option from each form. My plan is to pass the user input from both the forms to a perl script which would then query a MySQL db for the output and display it. Now my question is, is it possible to pass the data from first form to second using GET/POST method in Radio form? Will it be possible to pass both data from first and second form into the Perl code? My first form page named as index.html page and the second one is named as party_names.html. The form code I used in the first index.html page is:
I have a JavaScript function to validate form data so that it can check whether a radio button is selected after clicking next button to go to next html form page.
I dont know a lot about Javascript or AJAX. But, what I am wanting to do is to have two forms and what ever is entered in either will open a new window with that info.
[URL]
In form one I want what is entered to be placed where the 77777 is in the URL in a new window.
In form two I want what is entered to replace IRN=77777 with Username=88888 and where the 88888 is will be what is entered in the field.
I am NOT a coder; I have managed to attain a decent comfort level with (X)HTML and CSS over the course of the last few years, and I recently bought PHP and JavaScript books with the intention of learning both of those. But at the moment, my skills are akin to a child who is still learning the alphabet. Second, a little background: I am currently in the midst of designing forms to be used on a newspaper website. At the moment, the newspaper uses paper forms that people fill out for announcements such as weddings, engagements, births, child birthdays, etc. But due to an ever-shrinking budget, they'd like to find a way for people to enter the information online and have it arrive at the newspaper in a format that is as close to "ready to print" as possible.
My first experiment was the child's birthday form: [URL] PHPMailer-FE, I was able to set up a PHP template that emails the form info in paragraph form, so that it arrives in my inbox as "Peter Smith celebrated his seventh birthday December 31" rather than "Name: Peter Smith. Celebrate: Celebrated. Gender: His. Birthday: Seventh. Date: December 31." Okay, here's where the JavaScript comes in: I would love to have a "preview" button so that people submitting the form can double-check to make certain that the announcement will read correctly (especially to be sure that they haven't missed any he/she or his/her choices). Which means that I'd like to have, say, a pop-up window that shows the announcement as it will run: "Peter Smith celebrated his seventh birthday December 31." Once people have previewed the announcement, they can then send it to us at the newspaper. Is there a way to accomplish this in JavaScript that can be done by someone who has almost no working knowledge of JavaScript?
In the IT department that I work at, when we move a computer/install a new one we have to fill out a form with the information on the computer (CPU clock speed, amount of RAM, OS and service pack, etc). I created a web form already where instead of doing it on paper, we can fill it out online and it'll send it via email. My boss now wants me to figure out a way to automatically populate the form with the information the computer should know. I think I can do the IP Address in the ASP we have on there, but I think I need something client side to do the other things. I guess my first question is if this is even possible using javascript?
I need a form that will take user input and then email it. It should then redirect the user to a download or(page)after clicking submit. With controls to Clearform and Submit. It must also know that the fields are valid.
i'm building a website at the moment with a user registration form. something i struggle with everytime is the best way to give feedback to the user (e.g. further instructions for a particular field or error messages).I saw a very nice execution of this recently at this site. /user/register - this looks to be a custom job, but i'm curious is the open-source or even paid plugins that do a similar thing.
