Create An Associative Array From Within The Loop That Sets Up My Html Table?

Jan 27, 2009

I'm trying to create an associative array in javascript from within the loop that sets up my html table. I can't get my head around assigning the associative key-value pair (probably not the best way of putting it). I've written the below in php. What's the equivalent in javascript? The => is the part that's baffling me.

PHP Code:

$test_array[] = array ([INDENT]'seller_id'=>$seller_details[$column]['seller_id'],
'products_id' => $item_details[$idval]['products_id'],
'shipping_price' =>$item_details[$idval]['shipping_price'])[/INDENT]

Reading An HTML Document & Extracting Content

Jul 23, 2005

I'm an ASP developer by trade, but I've had to create client side
scripts with JavaScript many times in the past. Simple things, like
validating form elements and such.

Now I've been assigned the task of extracting content from a given HTML
page. If anyone's familiar with the Yahoo! Store order confirmation
screen, I need to be able to grab the total amount from the table to
the right-hand side. (Sample File:
http://www.2beyourself.com/t/sample.html)

If you view the source, this is in a table and enclosed with ugly html.
the value I want to retrieve is wrapped with b tags. Originally I was
thinking of using innerHTML or innerText for extracting the value. But
I find that we cannot gain control of this piece of the Yahoo! Store to
make it work!

So after talking with peers, we thought of reading in the entire HTML
page and using regular expressions to try and extract the value.
Something along the lines of: '<b>[0-9]+.[0-9]{2}</b/>'

I'm not sure how to accomplish this. Could someone please point me in
the right direction? If this solution is even a good one. If you have
something better, I'm all ears! (eyes) If using the regular expression
would be a good solution, I need to find out how to read in the entire
HTML doc, and then parse out that piece.

Error Reading Text File In HTML 5

May 25, 2011

I have written the following code to read contents of a text file using FileReader object of HTML 5 for Google Chrome.

<script>
function handle_files(files) {
var i;
if (checkBrowser("Chrome")) {
for (i = 0; i < files.length; i++) {
file = files[i];
var reader = new FileReader();
ret = [];
reader.onload = function (e) {
console.log(e.target.result)
}reader.onerror = function (stuff) {
console.log("error", stuff)
console.log(stuff.getMessage())
}text = reader.readAsText(file[i]);
alert(text);
}}}
</script>
<input type="file" multiple="multiple" onchange="handle_files(this.files)">

Unfortunately, the variable text always displays as undefined. Everything above the line text = reader.readAsText(file[0]); works fine. Is there any other solution to read a text file using HTML5/JavaScript on Chrome?

JQuery :: AddClass Not Working In Webkit - IE

JQuery :: Cycling Values In A Hidden Field From Image Click?

Sep 29, 2011

I want to show pictures of my students on a page so I can take the presence easily. I made that using a MySQL DB with php. That's the easy part.

Next, i managed to make a jquery script so when I click each image the border of that image cycle through green, red and yellow (in - out - late css class).

Here is the html code (id from hidden field is the student number)

<div class="presences-container">
<ul>
<li class="presences-image in"><img src="7465.jpg">
<input type="hidden" id="7465" name="presence2" value="in"/></li>

[Code]....

Now, I want to set each hidden field value according to the state of the image (in ou or late) with jquery and submit all hidden field to put it in my DB.

JQuery :: Injecting Radio Buttons In Webkit

Jul 23, 2010

This appears to be an issue with webkit and not jQuery specifically, but I've noticed this:
NewDomRadio = '<input type="radio" checked="checked"id="testme" name=" testme" />';
$('div').prepend(NewEnumDom);
will not work in Safari (I'm using 5.0 w/ Snow Leopard).

Chrome appears to have somewhat fixed this, although destroying and recreating the element a few times re-introduces the bug. The source will read "checked=checked" correctly, but the DOM inspector reports checked: false.

There seem to be two workarounds:
1] Removing the name attribute (!!!)
2] Placing the checked attribute at the end.

JQuery :: Inconsistent Event Behavior In WebKit Browsers

Jun 22, 2010

I have been spending my whole life on converting a flash version of a header/menu system to jQuery HTML. It is very nearly done in that it works nearly 100% perfectly in Firefox and IE8. [URL]. Unfortunately, in Chrome and Safari, my menu events of the top menu seem to fire inconsistently, and in the wrong order. It is easy to trigger a problem by simply circling your mouse over the top links. One of the menus will retract when it's already retracted, or the mouseover event for one or more of the links will seemingly detach, making the menu unusable.

The way it is supposed to work is as follows: Person hovers over link, causing menu to slide out and the mouseover event to be detached. This also triggers a 1 second timer that retracts the menuHovering over menu cancels 1 second timer.When the mouse leaves the menu, the menu is retracted and the original mouseover event is attached to the link. It's a bit hackish but it works and I've spent way too much time on this project as is. I have a lot of iphone detection checking to disable/enable some portions of the code if the browser is mobile safari. The site works fine in mobile safari as is.

JQuery :: Proper Way To Detect Webkit-based Browsers?

Sep 4, 2009

Now that we're switching to feature detection rather than browser detection, how does/should one detect for a webkit browser?Is there a known feature that we can check for that would Identify Safari and Chrome?We're running into some (rather minor) layout issues with some jquery plug-in rendered content in Chrome and Safari and it'd be really easy to just do a 'if a webkit browser, tweak this' type of logic.

JQuery :: Handling Huge Sets Of Elements?

Jan 23, 2011

I developed a plugin which loads some content via AJAX. Every time the content is loaded I need to bind to certain elements ( let's say the elements with 'bar' as classname ) the mouseover and mouseout elements. I achieved it by using the ' live() ' instruction.Now my problem comes when I need to scan every element which has 'bar' as classname and do some calulcations on it (they are over 600). I tried to do like this

$container.find('.bar').live('customevent', function()
{
// do some stuff
});

then, once the contents is loaded

...
$container.find('.bar').trigger('customevent');

but this will cause the browser to carsh ( I think because jQuery is scanning over than 600 elements)

JQuery :: Treating Two Sets Of Radio Button Groups As One?

Feb 15, 2009

I have a situation where within my form I establish two different sets of radio button groups. The real world example field group names are "Mens" and "Womens".

Everything works fine with my form until the user submits the form but then selects their browsers "back" button. When they are returned back to their product page from their cart their previous selection remains active. If the user then selects an option from the second set of radio buttons their submission contains both selections which I do not want.

I can clear all of the radio button states with the following function just after the form is submitted:

Code JavaScript:
$(".cart input:radio").click(function(){
$(this).parent().submit();
this.checked = false;
});

But I think it would be much more graceful to inject some logic; e.g. if the clicked buttons group name is "Mens" make sure clear the state of any selected button in the "Womens" group. But I guess for me this is easier said than done.

If it does make more sense would I define the condition in my click function? (here is me hacking away at this logic - I realize my sytax is probably messed up)

Code JavaScript:
$(".cart input:radio").click(function(){
if(this.checked[name@Mens]){
$(radio[name@Womens]).checked = false;

Cycling Through Checkboxes ?

My objective is to have one checkbox deselect the other checkboxes in its category without interfering with the rest. How would I go about doing this assuming the id tag is already in use and differs per tag? I was thinking about cycling through all checkbox tags and sorting them out via class but I'm looking for something possibly more efficient.

Cycling Section Of Content ?

Apr 9, 2010

What I'd like to do is set up a section of my page so that the content cycles through at regular intervals. The actual application in this case is to change a banner image, its alt text, and the page it links to.

So if I had 3 variations:

It seems to me that the most intuitive way to do this would be to put them all in a div or something and have that div's content cycle between the snippets above. However, I'm not very familiar with JavaScript objects, properties, etc and don't know if this is even possible, let alone how to do it.

I've done a few web searches to see if I could find a script like this, but I mostly just came up with image rotation scripts. One of them provided a way to change the link as well, but it seemed that the link only changed on a click, so that (I believe) the status bar would show an incorrect destination when the banner was on any image but the first. None of the scripts I found would allow me to change the alt text as well.

Is there a way to have all three of these things cycle through simultaneously? Again, an ideal solution would allow me to cycle the entire section of HTML.

Cycling Through Hidden Divs ?

Jul 5, 2009

I posted here a couple days ago and got help from a really nice forum member to get my script working. Now I'm a little embolden by the good experience and am trying to be a little more ambitious. As usual, I ran into a little brick wall on my own and need a shoutout for more help.

Here is what I have so far - a main panel where different image/texts are held in 'panel' div containers within another div container, under which is a nav bar consists of thumbnail images/links. Upon onclick on one of the thumbnail images, the 'panel' div containers are set to display:block or none, effectively 'switching' the panels.

Here is what I am trying to build on top of that - ability to set one of the panel div as 'display:block' at start (right now nothing show until one of the thumbnails is first clicked), and a mechanism to cycle through the different panels via a timer (interruptable via the onclick to show/hide command).

Here is my code so far:
