JQuery :: Create A Function To Show A Custom Message As A Tooltip When A User Hovers Over A Table Row
Mar 10, 2011
I'm trying to create a function to show a custom message as a tooltip when a user hovers over a table row.
My tr tag looks like this
The javascript function looks like this:
jQuery seems to be loaded correctly, as I get the alert. I don't get the tooltip, however.
What I'm trying to do, in case this is totally retarded and impossible to see, is to hover a tooltip over the clicked row instead of passing it in as a variable.
I am writing a script that will replace the src of an image when the user hovers over it. I am using jquery and regex to accomplish this and have tested it on my local server but the src of the images on the live server is different and uses a non-relative path. Here is my code
$(document).ready(function() { $("img.imagefield").mouseover(function() { var regex = "^(http|https|ftp)://[a-zA-Z0-9-.]+.[a-zA-Z]{2,3}(:[a-zA-Z0-9]*)?/sites/all/files/[a-zA-Z]*"; var src = $(this).attr("src").match(regex) + "_silly"; [Code]...
I am creating a grid of thumbnails. When a user hovers over a thumbnail, the image enlarges. The *trick* is, I want the "active area" to only be the size of the thumbnail. That is, the thumbnails are 180x120, and when the mouse leaves that area, I want the large image to shrink back to normal size.
I have a working demo here:[url]
The way I accomplished this feels hacky though, and I's like to know if there's a simpler/more elegant way to accomplish it. The thumbs are an unordered list of images.
Here is my javascript:
In essence, I add an overlay div over each thumbnail which acts as the trigger to shrink the enlarged image. I thought I could use the parent <li>, as it doesn't appear to expand with the image (since I've set its size in my CSS) but that didn't work.
I have an odd problem I can't seem to find a solution for. I have two ValidationTextBox elements in a form, username and password. In the onBlur() function of username I call the validator function. Here I make an ajax call to the server to verify that the username is not already registered. If it is then focus is set back to the username field. That all works great. My problem is that when the user clicks on the password field (or tabs) the validator() function for that field is called and displays the tooltip for saying "password can not be empty" and the tooltip for username stating that the username is already taken is not shown.
how to show the username tooltip instead of the password tooltip? I have tried calling an empty displayMessage("") on the password field and this does not work. It is rather annoying because the user does not know why the username field is invalid. Visually it is obvious that the field is invalid but it doesn't state anywhere that the username is already used.
Is it possible to play a small sound clip when the user hovers over a link? Usually the company I work for would use flash to do this but we have been asked to create it in HTML/JavaScript.
I am trying to modify the table found in the following Link (section 4, Post Event Calculated tonnes) to recreate an identical table that I require:Special Event Follow UpSomeone prior to me create this sheet and I would like to modify the formula and the headings in that specific table only. How can I recreate an identical table with different headings to represent the items I require.
I am trying to validate my 2 password fields with a custom message.Here's the code i'm trying to use, but it keeps failing:class="{required:true, equalTo:true, messages:{required:'Please type a password(min. 5 signs)', equalTo:'Pass dosen't match'}}"What is wrong, is it possible to do it by this code?
I have the, how can I let the alert box become wider and the text message become big. <script type="text/javascript"> $(document).ready(function() { alert('Please dosomethin before.'); }); </script>
I am trying to hide/show table when hide/show button is pressed
Problem: The code works fine when I remove 'slow' from line 10. But with 'slow' in line 10 content of toggleButton doesnt change from Hide to Show when pressed.
in creation of the simple tooltip on a click on the link (button). When we click on the button, nearby appears in advance prepared DIV (Before it had display:none , anything unusual).
So, a problem: it is necessary, that at a click out of the tooltip, it disappeared , BUT if we click on the tooltip, it should remain .
Here has made a demo-page with explanatories: [URL]
Code now the such: <a href="" class="fortip">Button 1</a> <div class="totip">Tooltip 1</div> <a href="" class="fortip">Button 2</a>
I am maintaining a site which is written in ASP. Now i have to create some new pages.
In one page we have a table with many rows. Now, I want to enable or disable(showing and hiding also) 2 rows of this table depending upon the value selected by the user from a drop down list.
Create a function that prompts user for a number. Develop the program so that it continues to prompt until it receives valid information. Then create a multiplication table that displays the number multiplied by 1 through prompted number.
I am trying to set up a toggle to allow users to show more precision when a user clicks a button. I have a function high() that doesn't do anything when it is called. I am fairly new to jQuery so I am not to familiar with the syntax.
I want the Tooltip (the one I'm using is the jQuery Tools tooltip) to fire each time the mouse goes over the entire table row. At present it only fires when the mouse goes over the final <td>. Here is the table markup:
The only slight complication is that I currently have some jQuery adding a zebra effect to the table rows. So if I could keep the Zebra striping along with the Tooltip activation that would be good.
Here is the jQuery for the Zebra stripping: //Zebra Striping $('tbody tr:odd').addClass('zebra'); $('tbody tr.data').mouseover(function(){ $(this).addClass('zebraHover'); }); $('tbody tr.data').mouseout(function(){ $(this).removeClass('zebraHover'); });
And here is the relevant jQuery for the Tooltip firing: $(".dImage").tooltip({ offset: [10, 2], relative: 'true', effect: 'slide' // add dynamic plugin with optional configuration for bottom edge }).dynamic({ bottom: { direction: 'down', bounce: true } });
I've tried simply adding the class ="dImage" to the <td> tag e.g. <td class="dImage"> but although the tooltip kind of fires it doesn't include the image, it loads the next bit of text.
I am attempting to create an ASP.NET Custom Validator javascript for a checkboxlist control. My goal is to limit the total number of selections to be 1 - 5 at most. My problem is that I get a null reference when I attempt to retrieve an object for an individual list item, which of course results in an "object required" error message....
I am using Tablesorter to work with a simple table, but have comeacross an interesting difference in how it works between browsers.One of my columns looks like this:
I have a table that contains many rows, some in italian with code <td nome='riga_i'>. and some in english with code <td name='row_e'>. I have created two buttons with different background flags: italy and uk, so when one pushes the button with flag uk, the html page will be reloaded with only english rows, and when one pushes the button with flag it, the same page is reloaded containing only italian rows. All the code posted here works well, but I think that the code can be better because to reach this result I had to dupplicate the same function and I don' t like this.
Here the code:
To better the code I have tried in this way but without success ...
I want to create a interactive map viewer likeGooglemaps using my own custom map image. On clicking a location on the map, a small popup displayed showing some data. I aslo want a zooming and panning functionality. note that i am using aLinuxserver. The application must not use flash.
I've used about everyone i've found online, with no success.The problem seems to be that these tooltips don't use the fully qualified domain to include pages just tip1.htm instead of somedomain.com/tip.htmTrying to create a "plugin" of script that people coming to the site can cut and paste into their own page and that code will show the content of my remote page.
I am trying to load image and display other stuff dynamically, but I am having a hard time with it.How can I find out "span class" on the code below?what exactly defines "this"? and how can I access its contents?
