Count The Number Of Words In A Textbox?
Apr 13, 2010I have a piece of Javascript which i'm using to count the number of words in a textbox, which works nicely.
However the text called into that textbox is called dynamically from a database and the amount of words called into that box is ONLY shown when the user clicks on the textbox using onkeyup or I can create it when I use onClick.
is there anyway you can say on page load or something similar rather than having to click a box using onkeyup or onClick?

Now, my problem is, I'm not sure how to combine the words to only show once (i.e. only show the word "the" once, with a ": (number of times the words has appeared)" next to it.
By the way, this is what the assignment says:
To do this have two local arrays in your method, words, which is a String[100] array and count, which is an int[100] array. (There won�t be more than 100 unique words in the file.) Each time you read in a new word using next() first scan through the values currently in the words array to see whether it is already there. If it is, then add one to the value in count with the same index. If it isn�t then add the word to the words array and set the corresponding count element to 1. As you have in previous programs you�ll need a variable called, say, nextIndex, which is initially zero and gives the next available location in the array.

In my grid each row has a twin row (not consecutive) the rows each have 1 text box with a name containing txtAmt. When a user enters a value in the text box in a row. When I leave the first textbox (taborder 1), I need to check and see if the textbox contains avalue. If it does, then I need to check and see if the second textbox (taborder 2)contains a value. When i type the first word it works perfect, but when i space and type in the second word, its sends the two words back to the server and of course the results are wrong! eg. when i type the two words, 'Java javascript' the first word 'Java', autocomplete works well, pull the list. but when i space and type javascript, autocomplete sends 'Java +javascript' to my ajax function.

On a forum page with 300+ posts (all on one page) the php script takes too long and errors with max execution time exceeded. (the owner want it all on one page, and there are also anchor links somewhere else directly to the posts)
Now I have tested jQuery with viewport plugin to see if I can only autolink the table-rows that are visible in the screen only. (if I run the function on the whole page the script becomes unresponsive) It works fine on page load, but when I run it in a loop to update every 5 sec the already matched keywords just disappear! I have tried the scrollstop plugin as well, but made the scroll unresponsive
