JQuery :: Dynamically Add Radio Button - Handler To My Form On A Button Click ?

Jul 13, 2010

I am trying to produce a web form to allow wedding guests to RSVP. The form allows them to enter a name and select from a radio button whether they will be attending or not. If they select the "yes" radio button then a further pair of radio buttons are displayed for their meal preference.

They can then click a submit button or they can click another button to add another line for another guest which operates in exactly the same way. I've almost got this working, but it seems that the checkbox change handler is lost for the current guest when a new guest is added and the checkbox value is reset. I've got a feeling I'm doing something stupid but can't for the life of me figure out what.

Code (source file (renamed to .txt) also attached as I'm not sure the pasted code is too clear):

Dynamically Change Text In A Radio Button

Oct 12, 2007

I'm trying to write a Javascript quiz. The idea being that each question has 4 possible answers. The answers being in the form of multiple choice radio button. Instead of having either a long list of radio buttons and questions or loads of pages with tons of duplicated code, I'd like to make the quiz as one page. Pulling the questions, and possible answers from an array. All this I can do, except for changing the text on the radio buttons. In the past I've used.. getElementById with regular text to good effect, but can't manage it with the radio button. Here is part of my test code..

JQuery :: Pass Radio Button Selection To Hidden Div And Then Show Div List From Chosen Radio Button?

Mar 16, 2010

I am a PHP programmer and new to Javascript and jQuery and I have tried about 20 examples/tutorials and cannot seem to get even close to what I want.I have a form (PHP/MySQL) with a list of subjects I got from my database, and then create a set of radio buttons from that list. And based on what radio button they select, I need to pass that variable to a div (at least that's what I want to use) and then show a list of videos that match the radio buttons value. I don't care if its a get or post or other.I tried to use GET or POST so I can use that value for my PHP/MySQL lists.I am open to any suggestions/tutorials, etc.

Dynamically Changing Label Font Color When Radio Button Is Clicked?

Feb 6, 2011

I am building an online survey using a survey creation tool which allows me to incorporate javascript for additional functionality. However, I am new to javascript so would appreciate any help that you could provide me with.

I have question types like agreement scales, where the respondent sees a list of statements and has to rate each one by clicking on a radio button. The source code of the matrix table looks like this:

[Code].....

This code works as intended; however, as you can see, it loops through all the radio buttons when one is clicked. Is there a way to accomplish this without looping through all the radios, and thus make the script run faster?

Also, I have read that the addEventListener function does not work for older versions of IE. Is there a simpler alternative?

Clear The Cache With A Button?

I have a client that wants a site for people who are potentailly being abused, often by partners they live with.

He is under the impression that it is possible for there to be a "Button" that deletes the cache when the user presses it rather than going through the procedure of clearing the cache. I can see why this would be a goog thing to have, and wondered of js (or perhaps php might be the way to go)

Radio Buttons: Preventing The OnClick Event If The Radio Button Is Already Checked

Mar 23, 2009

I have a set of radio buttons each with an onclick event that has a numeric value. When the button is clicked an input box called "Total" is updated with the new value. The problem I'm having is that if a radio button is checked and one clicks on it again then the onclick event is triggered.

Is there any way to prevent the onclick event from triggering if the radio button is already checked?

Implement Clear Function Using Reset Button

i need to implement a clear button to clear all the fields in the
form, but i am thinking i can just use reset button.

<input type="reset" name="reset" value="CLEAR">

The first thought is that if there is default value reset and clear
will become different. My understanding is that reset means to restore the original page
before any edits by the user.

It seems like I can use reset button to implement clear javascript button.

Confirm Dialog Button Not Firing To Clear Data

Oct 5, 2011

I used this button to clear the database. It works perfectly:
HTML Code:
<input class="clearButton" type="button" value="Erase Data Now" onclick="clearData()">
However, it would be better to put it in a confirm dialog to prevent accidental use. So I used this line to open a dialog box:
HTML Code:
<input class="clearButton" type="button" value="Clear Data" onclick="confirmation()">

I used this script for the dialog box:
Code:
<script type="text/javascript">
// Confirm Dialog box from [URL]
function confirmation() {
var answer = confirm("Are you sure you want to erase ALL data you entered into the fields on this page? Action cannot be undone.")
if (answer){
onclick="clearData()";
}else{
onclick="close()";
}}
</script>

However, the
Code:
onclick="clearData()";
is not firing, but the
Code:
onclick="close()";
works fine, dismissing the dialog box. How do I incorporate the clearData so it works?

JQuery :: Get Name And Value Of A Radio Button?

Apr 1, 2010

I have a form on a webpage that asks the user 15 questions, and for each question, the user can select one of three answers from a radio group: "Yes", "Unsure" or "No".

The code looks something like this:

HTML Code:
<p>The purpose of the program was made clear to me before I started.</p>
Yes: <input name="1" type="radio" value="Y" />
Unsure: <input name="1" type="radio" value="U" />

[Code]....

What I would like to do is add a bit of JQuery that will be able to detect when a radio box is clicked, and then do something with both the name and the value of the selected radio box (eg, just display the name and value in an alert box, or something).

I can add unique classes to each radio group if need be.

Ajax :: Button Eating My Lunch - And Dynamically Added Button

May 22, 2010

The main page is called Aj.html. In the 'head' I have mostly some functions to support Ajax call to server PHP (to just 'echo' something so I could see Ajax work). In the 'body', there is a little javascript and a form 'button'. When I click the button, an 'onclick' event causes a function to do the last step or two of the Ajax stuff... and the server PHP element is called... and then my ajax message handler back in Aj.html gets control to just send an alert... and that was the initial experiment ... and it was just so I could see how Ajax works.

Well - then I noticed that the 'button' is only clickable ONE time... And I set about to try to learn whatever I needed to learn to make that button be one that could be used to fire off the Ajax stuff multiple times... But I couldn't get that to work. So, I tried some code to remove the onclick event (during the ajax messaging handling logic in Aj.html) - and then add another onclick event to that same button... but that didn't work. Then, I tried to delete my button altogether - and insert a new button with it's own 'onclick' (which also would fire the ajax stuff) - but that didn't work, either....

Anyway... Now, my biggest curiosity (for the moment, at least) is why I can't dynamically add a button that has the needed onclick stuff to also fire the Ajax stuff... So, I guess I'd like to solve that right now.

What's currently happening is this: when I'm in the part of the code that is defining the dynamic button - and just before that button is added to the form, I define the 'onclick' that is supposed to be a part of that new button... BUT - when that assignment is made, it is almost like javascript is thinking that the request is actually in insert another onclick for the in-progress 'click'... because the new onclick is immediately processed at that point (I don't even make it to the next statement...just boom... the new onclick function is executed).

Also - the new dynamically added button DOES get added okay... but when I click that newly added button, it doesn't fire the Ajax stuff it's supposed to fire (via the onclick for this added button) - instead, it just causes what appears to be like a page refresh ... because the regular button reappears at that point (and then the Ajax stuff will again work off of that 'regular' button).

I'm including the whole script here.

Code:

JQuery :: Deselecting A Radio Button ?

Jan 28, 2011

When a user clicks an already selected radiobutton, I'd like to deselect that radio button, so the user does not have to have a choice selected.

So this works...

And this works...

But as soon as I take the alert out of either, it stops working. I have a feeling this has something to do with the order of events in the click when interacting with the radio button, but I'm not quite sure how to fix it.
