Control Visibility - How Data Gets Displayed
May 5, 2010I'm using PHP and adding Javascript to snazz up how my data gets displayed. This isn't for a class-p, I'm just expanding my skills. I try to stay away from Javascript as much as possible for compatibility reasons, but there are some instances where I can't get away with it. In my web apps class a few years ago, we used ASP.NET, C# and Javascript. The instructor really had no idea what she was talking about... But we were making labels visible/invisible for input validation. As I recall, this was server-side, but I don't remember the page reloading. I need a method of making an html control element visible or invisible without a page refresh based on whatever criteria I have at the moment. I don't see any reason why Javascript couldn't do this.

It works great in NS and IE but when I try it in mozilla(firebird) it won't work. Any have a code I could use or know of a resource where I can get one.

Aug 25, 2010I'm building a webpage using javascript and iframes. Basically I have an iframe in the middle of the index.html page that links to another html page (let's call it iframe.html). My question is, is it possible to call a javascript function from iframe.html to control an object on index.html? If so, how do I do this? I'd like to be able to assign an image in iframe.html with the hyperlink of href="javascript:function()", where the function effects the CSS of a div on index.html.

Jan 1, 2010I know this will have been covered but search isn't working for me at the moment. Easy one for people who know JS anyway, I'm sure: I have a SELECT box that precedes a text input, however, when a particular option is selected (the value of which is "BETWEEN") I need a hidden SPAN to become visible. It is hidden as default with "visibility:hidden;" so I need to just change it to "visibility:visible;" if memory serves. Anyway, likewise, if it is already visible, I need it to be both hidden and have the input in that span have an empty value. Any tips? I need to apply this to many rows in a table, so a function that I can call with the span and input IDs would be best I reckon.

I can find loads of scripts that check what version of IE someone's using. The version isn't important!

Accessing Value Of HTML File Input Control?

And it does indeed allow the user to select a file on his computer.
But when I access the value of the control I get an odd value. I do this, in javascript:

var FileName = FileSelector.value;
And the FileName that I get is "C:/fakepath/MyPicture.jpg"
The actual path is C:/MyDocuments/MyPictures/MyPicture.jpg". But instead it's coming up with "fakepath".
Very weird! How do I get it to return the actual full path to the file on the user's computer?

I need to show the section inside an iframe (iFrame1) on the mainpage (mainpage.html). JQuery :: Change Html Content Back And Forth?
Mar 26, 2010I used the jquery-function replaceWith() to replace this html part <div class="montag">...</div> with this part <div id="ersatz">...</div> Then i implemented a listener for montag and a listener for ersatz, so I can switch back and forth between the different parts.
The side gets loaded within the montag div and when i click on this part the listener works and the html gets switched to the ersatz part, but after this the listener for ersatz does not work, although the modified html gets displayed in firebug. Are there any solutions for such a kind of problem?
