JQuery :: Scope After AjaxForm?

Apr 4, 2011

I'm showing a form in a Simplemodal dialog in combination with ajaxForm() to redirect the resulting page to another DOM element. The success function of ajaxForm() closes the modal dialog.The resulting page in the other DOM element has no access to the jquery function $(). When I load a page using ajax into the DOM element there is no issue access the jquery function, this only happens when I redirect the resulting page from the ajaxForm() function.

JQuery :: Make AjaxForm Work With The Assistance Validation Plugin?

Jun 28, 2010

[URL] I'd also like to use this plugin, so I don't have to create complex validation rules. validation plugin [URL]Trouble is, I can't figure out how to prevent form submission without first checking to see if the form is valid. My attempts so far have been based on using submit() to prevent submission of the form if validations valid() method returns false. But this doesn't seem to work. If I use ajaxForm, the submit() function seems to work differently. A form will still be submitted, despite a return false. validate has a valid() method that returns false if the form fails validation. How can I submit the form only if valid doesn't return false?

JQuery :: Regression: Form Plugin AjaxForm Cannot Access XML Return Data In Opera

Jan 26, 2011

I stumbled on this problem while testing StatusNet for our next release; we use jquery.form's .ajaxForm() to do various AJAX form submissions, including the primary message-sending form which includes a file upload control.

We've not seen problems before, but since upgrading from an old Form plugin version 2.17 to 2.49 a couple months ago, I've noticed our development branch no longer works properly in Opera: the actual submission goes fine, but we're unable to access the XML return data (which usually contains HTML fragments to put back into the UI).

I have a test case which demonstrates this at [URL] (source of the main page & submit handler are included there), using current jQuery 1.4.4 and jquery.form 2.52.

Under Firefox 4.0b10 and other browsers, the forms submit correctly, and we can read nodes and text out of the returned XML just fine.

But on Opera 11.00 and 10.63, the submission goes through but we get back an HTML document containing only "<head></head><body></body>". On Opera 9.63, it also includes the text "Blank page."

I tried to trace this down in jquery.form's history, and the trouble seems to have started around 2.39 with a commit ironically titled "iframe load fix (mostly for Opera)", which changes the event handling for forms submitted via iframe: from that version on, a 'load' event handler is added directly as an onload attribute on the iframe's source, whereas previously it was added with attachEvent or addEventListener.

It looks to me like the iframe is throwing a load event for the "about:blank" page, instead of for the submission.

I can revert back to 2.17 or another working version for now, but I'd like to make sure this is fixed upstream;

JQuery :: Getting A Window Document From A URL?

i have a task in which i have a partial url of a webpage on a server, now i want to load it on the browser. I used window.location for this task and its working. but the real issue is that i need a javascript code to be inserted in to this webpage. and here i am having some problem. this webpage is not specific, but its in a particular location on the server, the user uploads the page of his choice and this will be used as a screen saver, i.e. when the application is used for some time interval, the webpage will be shown. the user selected file is added to the partial url dynamically. now, the script can't be added there unless i have the html element of the webpage, i dont know if i can use jquery for this.

I have an AJAX contact form which works fine so long as visitors preface URL's they type in with "www". But if they navigate directly to a URL on my site (not using www), the URL resolves OK but the URL doesn't match what I use in my AJAX form. In Chrome, this results in a console error:

JQuery :: Loading Using Window.document.write()?

I have this button on a page that uses "window.open" and then "document.write" to open a new browser window and then write HTML to the newly opened window. The issue is that the written HTML has <script src> tag that loads Jquery. Around the bottom of the document is the <script> $(function(){....})</script> code. But the page gives an error at the call saying that "$" is undefined. Obviously, the JQuery library was not loaded.

This full code works fine on my machine. But this code does not work properly when run on the client-side!, although the same server and the same deployed application is being accessed. There is no particular sequence/scenario but for eg.When say button1 clicked->window1 opens->window2 is opened->value selected->returned to window1->Clicked on Find-> clicked on Ok->returned on the main page.Then repeated the same scenario for say 3rd button. (Till now 'Find' link works fine).Now repeated the same scenario for 2nd button and here 'after' message is obtained but 'inside Find' is not printed!

Safari 3 Will Not Document.forms Submit The Form Correctly

Feb 23, 2009

I'm trying to get a form submit working for all browsers, and I am using document.forms['formname'].submit().
However, despite having 'formname' set on the forms in both the name and id properties, Safari 3 will not submit the form correctly; when I debug, $_POST is empty. IE, FF both work here fine. If I use document.forms[0].submit() it works correctly, but this code will be working in a dynamic site where I can never be sure at what index a given form will reside. I can make it work using document.getElementById('formname').submit(), but that does not work with js turned off, and I need this to work with js on/off.

JQuery :: Clarification On $(window) Vs. $(document).ready - Hiding All Of A Page's Content Immediately

Oct 18, 2010

I'm working on hiding all of a page's content immediately via Javascript. I want to avoid using CSS to display none just incase I run into users who don't have JS enabled.

I wanted to get advice from others and see what the difference is between using jQuery actions within $(window) or $(document).ready. From what I understand, $(window).bind("load, function(){ etc. will only use the script once all contents on the page are loaded, including images?

And $(document).ready(function(), etc just requires the DOM to be ready but will still execute code even if images, etc. aren't loaded.

Document Object Missing In Child Window

Jul 23, 2005

I have tried this using both frames and window.open(). In either case, if the new content comes from a different site than the original (or comes from a site and original is a local file) the document object is inaccessible. The new window object seems to have no document and no all[] or just about anything else useful. If the new content came from the same site (or local computer) as the original, everything seems to be where it belongs. I have looked all over and can find no references to this problem. Is this some security issue that everybody but me knows about?

I am seeing this on IE 6.0.2800.1106. The files are created in notepad
so there should be no surprises there.

IE Window.parent.document.images Problem

Jul 20, 2005

I have a main page:

--------------------------------------------------
<html><head><title>Test</title>
</head><body>

<img id="img_a" name="img_a" src="image_1.png" alt=""><br>

<object width="0" height="0" type="text/html"
data="/cgi-bin/next_img?img_a">
refresh image
</object>

</body></html>
--------------------------------------------------

and a script next_img generating this code:

--------------------------------------------------
<html><head>
<script language="javascript1.2" type="text/javascript">
<!--
function doLoad() {
setTimeout( "refresh()", 15 * 1000 );
}

function refresh() {
window.parent.document.images["img_a"].src = "image_2.png";
window.location.reload( false );
}
//-->
</script>
</head><body onLoad="doLoad()">
</body></html>
--------------------------------------------------

The Script specifies a new image (image_2.png) and the duration (15 sec)
to show the new image. On timeout the script is called again. The main
page may hold more than one image and object.

The Script looks nice on Mozilla Firebird but can't find the images in IE 6.0.
I also tested some variants of refresh() like:

function refresh() {
var image = window.parent.document.getElementById("img_a");
image.src = "image_2.png";
window.location.reload( false );
}

but no success.
