JQuery :: Access Elements That Have Been "AJAXed In" To The HTML Document?

Apr 27, 2010

Let's say I have a webpage. The user does something that writes some new HTML code in to the document, code that wasn't there on the initial page load. This new code causes new HTML elements to appear on the page.

Is there any way I can access the new HTML elements thought JQuery?

Standard use of $('#newelement').click(whatever) doesn't appear to work on HTML code generated by an AJAX request. It's like the JQuery "can't see it".

JQuery :: Access Elements From The Result Of A $.get Request?

Aug 5, 2011

I am currently working on an website which consists of 2 sites. Both have the same design (expect for the colors) and both sites have different navigation items (some are the same). I started the page in PHP with classes. Every site is a Site class which has an array of Content classes.Site->showNavi($section); prints out the navigation of the current site, with a navigation item for each Content class in the array. The active ($section) item is highlighted.Site->showContent($section,$subsection); prints out the content.

First i just wanted to use AJAX for the content section but then I realised that I could use it also on getting thenavigation and the content without reloading the page. So i searched the web and decided to use jQuery.

I started with the change site/design links and with the help of an tutorial i quickly managed to get these links work with following code:

$("#site_navi a").click(function(){ var site = $(this).attr('rel');
var cssfile = "/css/"+ site +".css";
var headerimg = "/img/"+ site +"/logo.png";
$("#site_css").attr("href",cssfile);

[Code]....

But it didn't work and after some testing i realised that i can't access the elements (e.g. a.navigationitem) which Igot from the request from "ajax_get_navi.php", because if i write down the navigation in the html code it works.

So, is there a way to get access to these elements? If not what do i have to change in the ajax_get_navi request to get access?

Building SVG Document Using DOM Interface Inside HTML Document

Mar 17, 2007

Normally an SVG document is loaded/parsed/interpreted inside an HTML
document using an 'object' (or 'embed') element, although there are
supposedly other ways too. The problem is, the SVG document must be
static this way.

I want to use the DOM interface to build SVG dynamically inside an HTML
document. I am guessing I can build it inside HTML within an 'object' (or
maybe 'iframe'?) element.

My intentions/goals:

In Javascript, I construct an object 'embedSVG' which has properties and
methods for creating valid SVG elements and setting their attributes and
attribute values.

During construction, the SVG document is created with its root element.
During debugging in FF 2.0 (I'll work on an MSIE-compatible format later),
I am using the Mozilla DOM Inspector and comparing nodes when the
'object' element is loading a valid external SVG document, and when I am
appending the child representing the SVG document created by the DOM
functions.

However the child node (#document) does not specify 'svg' as the root
element, but instead 'HTML'. Something is not working.

Here is the relevant code in 'ScriptTest.html' which is the HTML in which
the SVG is supposed to be embedded. Below it is the relevant code for
'svglib.js' which is supposed to contain code for building the SVG
dynamically.

What this code is supposed to do is load the HTML page and execute the
anonymous script, and draw a navy blue-bordered yellow rectangle on a
blank page. This is similar to the example in the SVG 1.1 W3C
Recommendation on page 202 of the 719-page PDF.

I am getting an exception when embedSVG object placeInHTML() method is
called: NS_ERROR_DOM_HIERARCHY_REQUEST_ERR. I find in DOM Inspector in
spite of or after the exception that a document is placed as a child of
the object element, but it is HTML, with a default 'head', 'title',
'body' elements placed.

Where am I blowing it?

I have an AJAX application using which im attempting to acces a #Text node in the NAME tag of a XML document. i then want to sort the names and place them into tables <td> tag. i can put the names in the <td> but i want them sorted alphabetically. from my understanding im suppose to be able to sort an array simply like this Array[].sort();..............this is the reason i need the text to be an array. Unless you know a simpler way to do this.

var signersdoc = xmlHttp.responseXML;

JQuery :: Manipulating Elements Not In Document

I have a situation where I'm getting some HTML code in an Ajax response, but I want to make changes to it before I put it in the document. Access To Elements Without IDs

Jun 28, 2004

I've been asked to build a small ecommerce site using this free shopping cart. However, the shopping cart designer did not tag all the elements with IDs. How can I access specific elements such as tables and forms without IDs? Most of the form elements have name attributes. Is there a method to access that? All I want to do is add some styling to the free cart so it integrates into the existing site design. The free cart allows me a header and footer so scripting is available. I can change tables and forms globally with css and tagNames but I would like to access a specific table.

JQuery :: Access An HTML Fragment That Was Inserted By A Different Function?

Oct 19, 2010

<html>
<head>
<script type='text/javascript' src='jquery-1.4.2.js'></script>
<script type='text/javascript'>
$(document).ready(function(){

[Code]...

The above is a simplified example of the problem I'm facing. I could merge functions into one big self-referencing function (i.e. recursive function), but that's ugly and causes other problems (such as when insert form elements and wanting to harvest the user input afterwards). I considered declaring a variable in the top ".ready" function, and have all child functions stuff their HTML changes in it, but that seems to be a pain to keep track of and removes much of the value of using jQuery in the first place...

Is there a nice solution for this? To, after inserting HTML, somehow update the HTML state referred to by jQuery in the non-local scope(s)?

Permission Denied To Access Document Property In Firefox?

Aug 30, 2011

I have WordPress installed in a directory of my website, and I'm using an iframe on the homepage to embed the blog. I'm using a javascript code that I found online to automatically resize the iframe based on the content inside of it. This is the code:

<script type="text/javascript">
function resizeIframe()
{[code]...

This works perfectly in Google Chrome. However, in Firefox I get this error in the console:

Error: Permission denied to access property 'document'
Source File: http://mysite.com/index1.html
Line: 24

I don't have any experience with javascript, but this makes no sense to me, because it should work since the iframe document is on the same domain and server as the parent page. The parent is[url]...." and the iframe document is [url].....Why is Firefox complaining about this? It shouldn't violate the "same origin policy" that I have read about.

IE7 Access Denied On Window.document.write() From Bookmarklet

Feb 9, 2009

I am trying to write a bookmarklet that will let me know an object.For the most part, it works as best I could hope until I try it on a real page.For the purposes of understanding, I am using the Bookmarklet builder here [URL] for testing.

Here is the code:

(function (){
var theObjStr = prompt('What Object would you like to know?','');
var theObj = eval(theObjStr);

[code]....

I compress the code, and test it via the link on the bottom of the page and everything works magically.Add the Bookmarklet to your favorites, and go to [URL] and try to run it in IE7.I am getting an access denied error when the code gets to the line:

var wHndDoc = jjPopWin.document; I have tried everything including just calling a straight
jjPopWin.document.write();
with the same results.

I am on Windows XP SP3, Using IE7 (works great in Firefox 2 &3).
