JQuery :: Turn XML Into HTML That Can Access Source Info
Jul 13, 2011
I've seen examples of how to turn xml into html, but how can I make the html output clickable so as to be able to access the corresponding original xml element (to read its attribute values)?
I got some code that loads divs from other web pages into a particular div in my main page. In other words, I click on a button, and this tells jquery to load afragment of a particular page into my main page. For instance if I have 5 web pages onrock stars, I could have 5 buttons, and each button could load one rockstar's biography into a div on the main page (and replace whatever was there before). This works, and I do see the content that it loaded. But when I do 'view source' in IE, I do not see that content (the bio of the rock star). Another clue that this content is not really there, is when I try and run some code on that content. The content (from those external pages) have divs with specific names, and I try and make them into collapsible panels by running the following short function:
I have a multidimensional associative array in JS which contains category information for a navigation. It's actually set up through PHP, which pulls the info from a database then translates it into JS. I know it's set up correctly since I can see it in the source once the page is rendered. However, accessing this array causes external JS code (from my Slimbox files) to be displayed in the nav. It's as if the array is set up right, but accessing the elements brings in Slimbox code as the elements. It's very strange. You can see the effect here.
It's the secondary nav under Home, Featured Items, etc. Each token that is clickable is separated by an asterisk: [URL]. Notice the other page's navs work great! Try the jewelry nav on the Home page and the categories are set up fine. This is because other pages do not link to Slimbox. (And no, the site aint pretty because I wanted to get the hard stuff working before I work on the look). I've heard of jQuery interfering with Slimbox and Lightbox, but my nav is not using jQuery!
I'm working on [URL] We do every 5 seconds an Asynchronious XML-TTPRequest. The result of this request is displayed in the div messages. The newest results must be displayed at the top of the page. The code that we now have is:
var oldmessages = $("#messages").html(); $("#messages").html(ajaxreply + oldmessages);
If we use this, JQuery is rewriting the HTML into the div and a new request to the images is made. Otherwise if we use .before(), the messages are written outside the div messages. Is there a solution to write the ajaxresponse at the top of the div and after the ajaxresponse the old data without rewriting the HTML?
Basically am working on the travel booking site,i written the lot of ajax scripts , so am little bit fear of that ajax ,becoz if some one tried to access anonymously So i dont want to user access or takeing my javascript fileTell me how to restrict the use get my javascript filecouple of days back i saw on site, in the i take that site js url , and when i typed on the Browser , the system say , you cant view this URL
How do I get back the DOM element as HTML source using jQuery? The html() method only returns the innerHTML and it does not include the UIelement itself. But I am more interested in converting the UI element
I'm wondering if there's a jQuery method or plugin which allows me to dump the HTML source of all selected elements, ie. the element(s) referred to by any jQuery object?
As opposed to .html(), which outputs the "innerHTML", I'm looking for something like IE's old "outerHTML" function, which also provided the tag's own code as well as its inner HTML.
For a jQuery object which has captured several elements, I'd like to output *all* the HTML of all those elements at once, in one "dump" as it were. Is that easily doable?
Why isn't this code working? I can add items but only remove the ones originally added in the source code, not the ones dynamically added. <form><div class="list"> <div class="item"> <input type="text" value="" /> <a href=""class="removeitem">Remove this item</a> </div><div class="item"> <input type="text" value="" /> <a href="" class="removeitem">Remove this item</a> </div><a href="" class="additem">Add item to list</a> </div></form> <script type="text/javascript"> // Add item to list $('.additem').click(function(){ var template = $($(this).prev().get(0)).clone(); template.insertBefore($(this)); return false; }); // Remove item from list $('.removeitem').click(function(){ $(this).prev().parent().remove(); return false; }); </script>
I'm new to js/jquery and this forum so please forgive my potentially off-scope js/jquery remarks. I've been running a lot of toggles to show, hide, etc... divs and other HTML elements. It's making my application incredibly nice navigation wise.
Now to put myself in my users shoes. Say one user toggles on and off the things they want and don't want until they are satisfied with all the content of the screen. (That is by the way the nature of my application. A user loads in various variables via PHP and other means and when satisfied, a PDF is generated for them containing all their preferred content.)
Because: When a user is at a point where all the content they are viewing is worthy of a PDF, it is also worth saving that HTML 'view' (classes switched, variable adjusted, etc...). I would call it 'Save this workspace' or something along those lines.
I don't have a direct question per se but am more interested in the views of others who have similar thoughts and moreover, what relationship has jQuery had in helping employing some method?
I'm working on a webpage which is completely self-sufficient. This means if you copied the source you would be able to load it locally without any glitches from your computer. I want to embed a "Save As" feature into this document using only javascript or jquery. For various reasons I do not have access to a server-side language to perform this action. I've done some research but can't seem to find a definitive way to do this.
My goal: User clicks "Save As HTML" button which triggers jquery to copy the source of the page and present it to the user as a mypage.html download. My fall back approach will be to open a new tab with just the desired html and instruct the user to manually "File -> Save As". However, this is very undesirable and I would like to find a solution to fulfill the goal above.
I have two forms (in two different webpages) all with radio buttons. A user cannot select more than one option from each form. My plan is to pass the user input from both the forms to a perl script which would then query a MySQL db for the output and display it. Now my question is, is it possible to pass the data from first form to second using GET/POST method in Radio form? Will it be possible to pass both data from first and second form into the Perl code? My first form page named as index.html page and the second one is named as party_names.html. The form code I used in the first index.html page is:
I have a JavaScript function to validate form data so that it can check whether a radio button is selected after clicking next button to go to next html form page.
<!-- var xmlDoc=null; if (window.ActiveXObject) {// code for IE xmlDoc=new ActiveXObject("Microsoft.XMLDOM"); } else if (document.implementation.createDocument)
[Code]...
The other works fine and loads the 3 sections of infomation into a table so I can see that it is querying the XML file correctly. I have attached the .js file and the .xml file.
I have a script that when a user selects an option from a select menu the next select menu builds dynamically with information that relates to the first menu selection. The menu builds dynamically, but the values selected will not pass.
It is as if Mozilla will not recognize the menu since it was not already built with the page.
Anybody have an answer? This is really keeping me from getting other stuff done .
I have been trying to achieve this since yesterday night and am not able to figure out any solution as yet.
There's an XML page with RDF information inside. I want to simply get the source of this page and save it in a file.(basically i want to do a 'save as' without prompting the user.
I'll use the FSO for putting it into the file but to get the source of the page in a variable :
I think document.body or document.html do not work in Firefox. Also document.documentElement.getElementByTagName('xml' )[0].innerHTML is of no good.
I've a problem: I need to retrieve (in javascript) the soure HTML code from a url without loading the page then put the HTML source code in a string variable to manipulate it. From this variable I need to get all the links to perform some operations.
The above is a simplified example of the problem I'm facing. I could merge functions into one big self-referencing function (i.e. recursive function), but that's ugly and causes other problems (such as when insert form elements and wanting to harvest the user input afterwards). I considered declaring a variable in the top ".ready" function, and have all child functions stuff their HTML changes in it, but that seems to be a pain to keep track of and removes much of the value of using jQuery in the first place...
Is there a nice solution for this? To, after inserting HTML, somehow update the HTML state referred to by jQuery in the non-local scope(s)?
This article was just published on [URL].. As I read it this is about a new twist to an old issue. (see excerpts below) 1 - I thought JavaScript was in a "sandbox" and prevented inappropriate access to the local machine. Is this no longer true?
2 - More to the point: Can or are any modifications to JavaScript be done by the JavaScript development team... who ever that is (Oracle?)... to fix what ever JavaScript vulnerabilities are being exploited?
3 - Are there other defenses for the client machine other than those mentioned in the excerpt below? (Turn off JavaScript in their browsers, etc.) 4 - If there is no vigorous response to this by the JavaScript development team how can we continue to create apps with JavaScript as such will encourage people to simply turn off java script in their browsers and that will encourage other web developers to simply not use JavaScript on their sites.
5 - Is Oracle the "owner" or "keeper" of javascript? I looked on the Oracle Forums and saw no forum for javascript. If not Oracle who is addressing issues like these?
Article Excerpts: More recently still, the spammers started embedding the JavaScript inside the HTML file (rather than as a simple file attachment), to spread the horrible Zeus banking Trojan.
"So yes, a seemingly innocent HTML email attachment can do plenty of damage, and while quite stealthy, definitely not harmless," concludes Barracuda Labs' researcher, Dave Michmerhuizen. The only defenses against this sort of attack are either for it to be filtered at the gateway so it never reaches the user, or for the user to disable JavaScript in their browser. Security software on the PC might catch the exploit.End Excerpt.
i don't know so much about jquery so just i use them with indication from their web site. so my problem is how can i use multiple source of jquery without one source stop the other, and that what i need:
Many ajax and javascript functions change the innerHTML of elements in the source, writing and rewriting things in the source
You can run any javascript function or action you want that would change the source, but when you view it, it will always show the original source before a JS function changed it
Is there a way to view the changed source after each time a JS functoin changes it??
for example: <span id="whatever">This is the original source code</span>
then you may run this piece of JS: whatever.innerHTML= 'Changed source code!'
but when you right click and press 'view source" you will always get this: <span id="whatever">This is the original source code</span>
I want to get the changed source code, maybe its possible to write the changed source code to another file, or use some kind of HTTP prog to read the changes on an html page?
View source code of external files in html like *.js and *.css For example: In this page I am Posting to, there are 24 *.js files. They are loaded but you can't see them. I would like to view some of these external javascript files for study. Not necessarily on this site, but where ever I find them.
I'm not exactly sure as to whether this question should be posted here or on the php forum, but I think it mainly has to do with fancybox's zoom feature. My problem is this.
I'm doing SEO for an already established site and this site has a features area with about three different options that use the fancybox zoom script. These boxes all contain pertinent information (SEO heavy) about each option as well as links to different sites. All of the info displayed is pulled from a database via php.
I would like to be able to display the descriptions as searchable content, and be able to track how many people click on the external links, but as it is now none of this shows up on the source code. The fancybox zoom feature seems to open up another window within my main page.
My question is this. Is there anyway that I can retain fancybox and get the content to come up under the source code? Or does this maybe even sound like an unusual effect from fancybox.
I can send some code later, if anyone needs it. I just didn't want to throw everything in here all at once, because it's quite a bit of code involved.
Here is the example i am trying to achieve, following is the dynamic HTML table(with form) created using PHP and you will find checkboxes being named as 'select[]' and textarea as 'comment[]' the numbers within the boxes are random numbers.. i need to validate these two fields from the HTML table using Javascript before this form is submitted..i have this array defined in PHP and able to access the same array in my javascript..but for somereason i am unable to get the values associated with the table elements:
I'm new to web programming in general, so bear with me as some of my methods may not be entirely correct. What I currently have working is I have a webpage which contains a DIV, which I am using to load another webpage via javascript(which calls itself, in order to get an auto-refreshing effect). The webpage that's being loaded is detecting if a process is currently running on the server and writing some console output while it's running, and what I want to do is stop the auto-refreshing when the process completes. (I can detect when the process stops already).I'm trying to figure out how to properly set this variable from my page that's being refreshed, since it's being loaded in a DIV I figured there has to be some way to retrieve the parent's information.
This example applies to javascript, table, cells, rows[color=blue] > > How do you access rows and columns of a HTML table? > > >[/color]
<script language="javascript"> alert('start'); var tabl = document.getElementById('ordersTable'); alert( tabl.rows.length); var l = tabl.rows.length; var i = 0; var s = ""; for (i = 0; i < l; i++ ) { var tr = tabl.rows(i); alert(tr); alert(tr.cells(0)); var cll = tr.cells(0); alert(cll.innerText); s = s + "|" + cll.innerText; } alert("result=" + s); </script>
