I'm dynamically outputting the contents of a MySQL table using Python, to a HTML table, which users view (obviously) through a web browser. It looks great, but the problem is that I'd like users to be able to update these values. For example, I have the current value of certain fields in text boxes. I'd like users to be able to change those values, then hit a submit button or similar (ideally on-the-fly) to update the dB. I imagine javascript will need to pass values to a Python script, but I don't know what the best way to go about this is.
# Python code embedded in a .psp file
cursor = db.cursor()
cursor.execute("SELECT from_name, from_address, project, orb_proj, app, tier, environment,

I'm working on a project that requires an HTML table, in which the rows can be sorted (ascending and descending) based on the values of a particular column. In other words, regular sorting.I've tried a couple jquery plugins and they work just fine, however, the table that I'm working with is somewhat different to a regular table, because it will display 2 values (prices) in the same column for each row.
I would like to write my own java script function or plugin to accomplish what I need, but before I write any code, I just wanted to get some advice as to the things I need to take into consideration.For example (and please forgive my thought process in case is flawed):n order to sort the rows of the table, based on the values of a particular column I would have to do the following:Capture the values of the column I want to sort by and sort themThen, capture the values of each row and link them to each cell on the column that is being sorted

I need to copy input (checkbox) values from a form inside my iframe to the form in my parent frame using javascript and I'm not sure how to modify my current code to accomplish this! I'm using cold fusion to display the values from a database inside the iframe. Once all the values are loaded into the iframe, I need to be able to select as many as necessary and then submit the form from the parent frame which then runs a report that utilizes those values, but I can't do that because my code is written so that the values load in the iframe form and the action to run the report that requires those values is executed from the form in my parent frame. Here are the code snipits:
Main "Parent" Frame Code
<!DOCTYPE html PUBLIC "-//W3C//DTD XHTML 1.0 Transitional//EN" "http://www.w3.org/TR/xhtml1/DTD/xhtml1-transitional.dtd">
<cfparam name="WordFlag" default="0">
<html xmlns="http://www.w3.org/1999/xhtml">

I'm thinking that loading the values into some sort of hidden comma delimited string structure in the parent frame would do the trick, if I'm on the right track, how would I go about doing that?

I have a javascript function that catches a click event of a row in a table, but I am looking for a way to simulate a click in the first row on page load.
function onRowClick(row)
{
//Do something
}
My table is actually a .Net Datagrid named dgrList, here is the grid
<asp:datagrid id="dgrList" runat="server" Width="448px"
BorderColor="#E7E7FF" BorderStyle="None" BorderWidth="1px"
BackColor="White" CellPadding="3" GridLines="Horizontal"
autogeneratecolumns="False">
Now when I try to run something like
onRowClick(document.frmRemoteScan.dgrList.rows(0)) ;
I get the message that dgrList is null or not an object, and when I loop throught the elements in my form, dgrList is not one of them (yes it is between the form tags).
My question, is there a way to reference the created table via javascipt? Or does anyone have a way to simulate the row clcik via javascript.

I have a table within a table, that is to say the table is embedded in a <tr> tag in another table and would like to extract row and cell data to make an ajax call. The table in question has several input fields and a submit button on each row. While I can find the table where the submit came from and can get the data from the <td> elements which contain data i.e.<? echo AsOfDate; ?>, I can't find the correct syntax to retrieve the data from the input fields in that same row. Can someone give me the correct syntax to retrieve the input data?
var AssetTbl = document.getElementsByTagName('table');
for (i =0; i< AssetTbl.length; i++)
{
if (AssetTbl[i].id == "tblAssetHx")
{
RowID =AssetTbl[i].rows[1].cells[0].childNodes[0].data;
if (RowID == ID)

I'm having problem with getting the checkbox state of a selected row inside table. I don't know if there is any specific function to determinate which row is selected so I've thought of the following... when the row is selected, style(background color) is applied to the tr element, so I thought that I could looked for the tr element which has that style and extracted checkbox state from it.
<table><tr>
<td>Text</td>
<td>Text</td>
<td>Text</td>
<td><input type="checkbox"/></td>
<td>Text</td></tr>
<tr style="background-color:LightBlue;">
<td>Text</td>
<td>Text</td>
<td>Text</td>
<td><input type="checkbox" checked /></td>
<td>Text</td></tr>
<tr><td>Text</td>
<td>Text</td>
<td>Text</td>
<td><input type="checkbox"/></td>
<td>Text</td>
</tr></table>
If we assume now that second row is selected, how would I get the state of the checkbox (checked, unchecked)?

I have written some JavaScript that I can use to remove a table row from a table. If I have the table:
[Code]...
I also have JavaScript that will add a row to the same table. I've found that if I add a bunch of rows, when I delete one, there is a small amount of whitespace added between the permanent row and the others. It seems like while the row is removed, some remnants of it remain. Is there a way to get rid of it completely?

I'm new to web programming in general, so bear with me as some of my methods may not be entirely correct. What I currently have working is I have a webpage which contains a DIV, which I am using to load another webpage via javascript(which calls itself, in order to get an auto-refreshing effect). The webpage that's being loaded is detecting if a process is currently running on the server and writing some console output while it's running, and what I want to do is stop the auto-refreshing when the process completes. (I can detect when the process stops already).I'm trying to figure out how to properly set this variable from my page that's being refreshed, since it's being loaded in a DIV I figured there has to be some way to retrieve the parent's information.

<html>
<head>
<script type='text/javascript' src='jquery-1.4.2.js'></script>
<script type='text/javascript'>
$(document).ready(function(){
[Code]...
The above is a simplified example of the problem I'm facing. I could merge functions into one big self-referencing function (i.e. recursive function), but that's ugly and causes other problems (such as when insert form elements and wanting to harvest the user input afterwards). I considered declaring a variable in the top ".ready" function, and have all child functions stuff their HTML changes in it, but that seems to be a pain to keep track of and removes much of the value of using jQuery in the first place...
Is there a nice solution for this? To, after inserting HTML, somehow update the HTML state referred to by jQuery in the non-local scope(s)?
