JQuery :: Validate Won't Call ErrorPlacement Function?

Nov 13, 2010

$(document).ready({ 'errorPlacement': function(err, el) {
if (el == 'el_name') {
err.insertBefore(el);

[code]....

I tried taking the quotes off 'errorPlacement' but no luck. In the debugger I see it checking the settings for an errorPlacement function and it's undefined. I ran the function definition through JS Lint and it's happy

JQuery :: How To Code ErrorPlacement With Validate Plugin

Sep 16, 2010

I have to code an errorPlacement for my form checkboxes. The form works good with the default behavior; but I don't get how to code a special errorPlacement for the checkboxes. I used the Milk form demo. My working form (less the checkboxes) is at [URL] and the non-working one is [URL]. I know this must be really basic but I really new at this (I'm just a designer doing his best!)

JQuery :: Validate ErrorPlacement - Put The Errors Next To The Labels

Jul 1, 2010

The way I have my form set up, I have a line break between the input fields and their labels. By default, the Validation plugin puts errors after the input field. I am trying to put the errors next to the labels so it looks like...

Name: This field is required. [ ]

I've read the documentation and tried modifying the errorPlacement example, but I never got it to work the way I want it.

Here is the form I am using.

JQuery :: Validate Plugin - Customizing Position Of Labels Through ErrorPlacement

Jul 20, 2010

I'm trying to customize the position of my labels through the option errorPlacement, but I still didn't find how to make it work, I want to display icones just after my inputs, and my labels in a div, I tried to use errorLabelContainer for the div, but still can't display my icons (you know, a simple check mark when the input is valid, and a red cross when not).

Validate 'onresize' Function Call

Nov 19, 2004

I've built a page which uses javascript to snap roll-over layers to a centered (div) layer. It works fine, and is called when the page loads. However, calling the same function 'onresize' works, but doesn't validate as XHTML - because the XHTML body tag does not support the onresize event handler.

As a consequence, I need to extract the onresize handler into it's own script file and use it to call a page reload.

I can get this to work in IE 6 on a PC, but it doesn't work in FireFox. I really need this to be as cross-compatible as possible. The code I have in the page header is:

Code:

<script type="text/javascript">
function reDo(){ window.location.reload() }
window.onresize = reDo;
</script>

Does anyone know how to achieve a cross-compatible means of reloading a page upon resizing?

JQuery :: Validate Plugin Change After Call To Validate?

Jun 14, 2011

I'm working under certain constraints wherein,at a certain point outside my direct control,validate is called with no arguments, but after that I want to set a custom validation function on a form field. I figure there's got to be a way to manipulate validate's internal data structure to add the function, but I don't have a clue as to how.

JQuery :: Validate Breaking Ajax Call?

Apr 9, 2011

I posted this message a while ago but I can't find it. My bad if both show up. I just tried the validate plugin. I added the link to load it into my form and now I am getting callback querystring (I normally don't use querystrings) and I am not sure how to stop that.

I have a function that uses $.post() to get some address info and updates the page. I am returning a json object and this is now is broken. I gives me a invalid label error. I can see the data in firebug and it looks just fine. The function works if I don't load the validate plugin.

JQuery: Validate Certain Fields With A Function In A Multipart Form

Apr 19, 2010

I have a simplified version below of a multipart form. There are two steps and two tabs. I want the user to enter their username and email address and click 'Next' which will validate to make sure those fields are filled in, then activate and advance to tab #2 (Step #2) of the form, where they enter their credit card information.

I am having difficulty because username, email and credit card are all in the same form and I need to only validate certain fields on each step of the form. I was thinking I could make a function when the 'Next' button was hit that would validate the first two fields?

Here is what I have so far. I have a 'Next' button which activates and advances the tab to Step #2, but I need to work some form of validation into it before it advances. At the bottom of the page I have a 'Submit' button which is just so you can see that the validation is working if the form is submitted. I just want the 'Next' button to activate a function to only validate the fields on Step #1 (username/email).

Give it a look:[url]
