JQuery :: Type Inside Of A Div Or Span Tag - Editing Inline Html ?
Oct 20, 2010Is there a plugin for making an html element type-able? Basically I want to do something similar to [url] where you're editing inline html.

We are building a web app that will require non-technical people to build and edit a single HTML "home page". Ideally it would allow them to add blocks of text and images to the page, change simple styles, and add and maintain links.
I don't even know how to go about searching for such a thing. It's basically like a single page simple CMS. Something like CKEditor could be used for the individual blocks, but I was wondering if there was anything out there that allow us to put this together rapidly via the power of jQuery.
I found "editease" [URL] which looks close... but it's a bit out of date and it depends upon PHP. We run ColdFusion, but could port over PHP if we needed to.
I have a SPAN and I want to dynamically change the value. I can't find the property that lets me reference the data within the SPAN. How do I do it?
View 1 Replies View RelatedLet's say I have this paragraph..<p>My dog is brown.</p I would like to accomplish this.. <p>My <span class="animal">dog</span> is brown.</p> So, I want to use JavaScript to find all "dog" strings inside the paragraph and wrap them in a SPAN element of a given class. I would love to have a plug-in that does that... like this: $("p").findAndWrap("dog", "<span class='animal' />"); I know this can be done in JS, but I'm not particularlyexperiencedin JS string manipulation, so it would take a while until I would accomplish this...Is there a plug-in that does this?
View 7 Replies View RelatedThere are times that I am using another person's computer who has no
knowledge of updating HTML and does not even know if he has the
necessary programs to do the FTP.
I may see a minor problem with my site and would like to change it on
the fly. What I would like to know are the answers to the following
questions.
1. Is there any way to display unformated HTML within a web page
without using the browsers source facility?
2. Is there a way to modify it? Maybe showing it in a form textarea.
3. Is there a way for javascript or a form to do an FTP back to the web
site? This would obviously require id and password.
I've been trying to create an inline SVG document inside a div using javascript. I cannot seem to figure this out. What I want to do is create a <svg> element and apply some shapes and colors to it via javascript (or ecmascript if I need to). I have googled this and found that you need to have a valid XHTML+XML document in order for this to work.

I have a php script that lists some items which can be checked or unchecked. Now, I am trying to make a javascript that writes a comment field in a certain "span" - comm_'.$i.', where $i starts from 0 - if the check box is already checked (info retrieved from the database) or if the user checks the check box (when the user unchecks the check box the comment field should disappear). The problem is that I am unable to make it work properly (when I check or uncheck a box it doesn't work at all), I mean it only works for the element above, so if box_1 is checked it can only create the comment field in comm_0.
(Part of the) PHP code:
Code:
//Listing the items
<span class="olistr">
<span class="olistc" id="op">
<input type="checkbox" name="box_'.$i.'" " '.($row['state'] == 0?'checked':'').' onClick=javascript:ckState(this,"comm_","Comment",'.$i.')>
</span>
</span> .....
The error I get is - this is similar to the errors I get when checking and unchecking a check box:
Message: 'null' is null or not an object
Line: 64 (this would be line comSpc.innerHTML = 'something1';)
Char: 4
Code: 0
I have some code that works great when used inline (inside of an html page). The inline code looks like this and has an onchange = "gotoTest(this);" as part of the select element
<script type="text/javascript">
$(document).ready(function () {
$("select#RU").bind("change", gotoTest);

I am using a very simple search-type page to enable users to input a model number and its page appears in a inline frame. Its not a true search as it is simply relying on a person entering the correct html page name to find it. But this works perfectly in my application.The problem I have is that I cannot get the type box to accept enter key as a submitt, only a click of the mouse will submitt the request. If enter is pressed the box loses the users input but no action is taken.I think this may be a javascript issue. I have posted the code below.

I have a TD element, with a SPAN element inside. I use td-s onmouseover and onmouseout events for a small animation. My problem is, that, when I move the cursor over the SPAN element, the onmouseout event for TD element is fired. I want to prevent this. With other words, I want onmouseout fired, just when the cursor is moved outside the td area. See the code..

I need to know level of difficulty/hours needed to do this:
A user uploads a photo into an editing tool. It takes a couple of seconds to upload the full res version. Then, when the photos are being edited in the tool (cropping, color, etc.) it converts to low res for faster editing, so the high res image doesn't have to load every time there's a change. Once the user is done, and/or adds their final product, the manipulated image is saved to hi res again, for print.
What is the time estimate/level of complexity if this? The code is there for the tool (some advanced JavaScript), just need to change the speed of editing. Server disk write speed is plenty fast.

I was wondering if it is possible to include a xml structure in your html

and "dothat()" will return 1. If I can use xml in html I should be returning 1 for both functions. Code:
I have this problem that is really bugging me. I am trying to implement this script found in Javascriptkit: [URL]
It has a very unique feature of grabbing arbitrary HTML tags and attaching tooltips to them. Priceless to my site. But the problem is, the script only works with jQuery up to 1.2.6... after that version, it stops working entirely. Quite an issue, as you can imagine. It also has some issues with browsers other than Firefox that I hope updating the code might fix.
Im just getting started with Jquery, and now i have a little problem. I tried to search several solutions but none of them seems to work.

I have a form, with a submit button. Inside this form i have one input text field, in addition to an add more button to add more of that input field using JQuery .html(val);. Now the issue appears when I submit the form, all inline added input fields are not recognized, they are not set and there is no data for them in the POST.

What I want to know is if the span is something like 240px in width how can I make it so if the text inside the span tag is to long and puts the text onto a second line how can i make a cut off point in the text to stop the text moving to a new line and adding '...' if the text is to long??
i want to prevent copy image from website. for that i found a trick.
<SPAN STYLE="background-image: url(hemcircuit.gif)"><IMG SRC="transparent.gif" WIDTH="195" HEIGHT="190" BORDER="0"></SPAN>
where hemcircuit.gif is main image and transparent.gif is tranparent image file .
WIDTH="195" HEIGHT="190" is the width and hight of original pic.
it is working fine in internet explorer but not in Mozilla Firefox.
I'm not new to JS, or the web and it's various other technologies, but I ran into a problem. I'm trying to add an event handler for a click on all HTML span tags. Trouble is, getElementByTags() doesn't work and neither does getElementByTagNames(). Strangely, adding an id to the span tags and getting their id's do trigger the handler.
Code:
document.getElementsByTagName('span').addEventListener('click',doSomething,false);
function doSomething() {
alert(this);
Code:
<div onclick="alert('<');" > click 1 </div>
<div onclick="alert('<');" > click 2 </div>
edited: the first alert has this in the brackets: &l t; i.e. the html code for < but for some reason this foum converts it. and i thought html was off?
I was expecting the above to alert the text in the brackets exactly as written in the code for both divs. However both events alert '<'. Why is that? I want to be able to pass '<' as an agrument to events without being converted, because that is what is happening. How may I prevent it?
