JQuery :: TreeView - Menu Collapses Instantaneously With Animation
Jul 27, 2009
I was trying out [URL] with IE 8 in IE 7 mode. The menu animates and opens. When I click to close, the menu collapsed instantaneously. However, it is working perfectly in IE8 mode i.e. the menu animates while closing up. How do I fix this for IE7?

I've got an accordion menu that expands and collapses fine, but when I click on the links contained in the lists within the links don't open.
JavaScript snippet:
Code:
And the code for the lists:
Code:
If I remove the return false, the inner links work fine but it appends a '#' to the end of the URL in the address bar and I'd rather it didn't do that. How can I alter the jquery so the inner links still work but the links with the '#' as href don't append the '#' to the end of the page URL?

I'm a complete JS-noob. My experience ranges from adapting existing code a bit to using free javascript from the worldwide intarweb to implement in my designs.I've used one of such scripts on a website I'm creating for a client, I've modified it's look and feel to accomodate the site design with success, but there are still a few kinks I need to work out before actually launching this naviagtion.The menu uses expand/collapse features powered by Jquery (the "diensten" and "klanten login" are clickable and will reveal subcontent), but there are a few issues here:As soon as you click a link or a form within the expanded parts of the menu, it closes again which is very frustrating. When you are sent away to another page (say from index.php to page2.php), the menu collapses as well. Is there a way to keep relevant expanded parts expanded for certain pages?[code]

, I'd like to think this is fairly simple but unfortunately my knowldege of jquery is limited to using prebuilt scripts and changing a few variables to get what i need. I created a drop down menu with a slide down/up animation for submenus, which worked out just as I wanted. I ran into troubles though when trying to add a nested menu to the drop down, but with a slide animation going from left to right. I'm sure my explanation isn't very clear, so please take a look [URL] The nested submenu I am speaking of should only open when hovering occurs on the 'Item 01' link, but as you can see it also opens when hovering over the buyers link. Secondly, my attempt to slide from left to right on this ul is not working, it seems to be sliding down even though this was not defined in the code.

I recently started on a tree-folder display and used the Yahoo treeview control. Again it works very well and I am happy with the results. However, after seeing the treeview folder structure, my client asked if it would possible to add a right mouse click context menu to allow users to modify the folder tree -- add new folders, upload files, rename folders, delete folders, etc.
Updating the tree with the new elements is simple enough, but my attempts to implement the context menu have failed miserably. I have studied the Yahoo documentation and I can identify the name of nodes and the label of the element clicked on. But I can't figure out how to add the right-click code to the nodes the YUI Treeview generates.
I have successfully used various right-click Javascript scripts in the past -- but in those cases I was adding the function to an actual HTML element. The YUI elements are generated by the script, and I am at a loss as how to add the code to the generated node elements.
The application is part of a corporate intranet, and will only be used with Internet Explorer 6.0+ on Windows. The new context menu would completely replace the standard Windows context menu.
I am tempted to hack the YUI Treeview script to see if I can add a right click function similar to the Expand, Collapse and Clicked node functions, but I suspect that there is probably a simpler and easier way to do it.

I have been using jquery for about an hour. Here is my first menu animation, very simple; I am only playing with fade in and out on hover.
$(".nav li a").click(function(){
$(".nav li a").removeClass("active");
$(this).parent().addClass("active");
$('a').click().html();
Is this how I get a value of href? This does seem to work. Without this my link does not work.
return false;
});
$(".nav li a").hover(function(){
$(this).fadeTo('slow', 0.5, function() { });
//console.log($(this).text());
}, function(){
$(this).fadeTo('slow', 1, function() { });
//console.log($(this).text());
})
So I guess this is very simple. On hover my <a> within .nav li fades out back and forth. How would I 'hold' this across my entire website. Do I simply include JQuery in every page (if my page does not use any CMS like Wordpress). Is there a way to hold this menu across my entire site?

I have a button which is animated with a rollover effect, obtained through jQuery of course. I wish to open a lightbox clicking that button and I tried with a simple, self-made lightbox and with FancyBox but in either case the lightbox is displayed without animation.I post the code for my buttons and the lightboxHTML for buttons:

I develop a trouble ticket system. The ticket type is hierarchical (the nesting can be as deep as you want). Up to 500 tickets types exist at present.
Up not now I have an old fashioned pop up if you want to set the ticket type (without ajax). It takes quite long for the popup window to appear.
The server side is not problem, I am familiar with python, django and postgres. But JS is not my strength.
how to make this easy. Some users use this (alter ticket type) several hundred times a day!
Maybe it would be best, to have both: a popup window for mouse users and a auto completion field for people who prefer to type.

I'm using the treeview plugin [URL]. On some pages, the treeview is setup in a tab that isn't currently active. When there are some pre-opened nodes (by specifying the class "open") the nodes open, but the +/- hitarea is set to the wrong class (it's set to expandable instead of collapsible). The reason for it is the following piece of code in "applyClasses" in the pluggin. Because it's in a tab that's currently hidden, :hidden is always true, regardless of the child nodes actually being visible (but hidden).
this.filter(":has(>ul:hidden)")
.addClass(CLASSES.expandable)
.replaceClass(CLASSES.last, CLASSES.lastExpandable);
// handle open ones
this.not(":has(>ul:hidden)")
.addClass(CLASSES.collapsable)
.replaceClass(CLASSES.last, CLASSES.lastCollapsable);

I have a div that has a negative top margin and a negative right margin. The right margin is because I want to have the div slide onto the page from the right. The top margin is because without it my page height is the height of the visible elements plus the height of the off-screen div.On a button click, I move the div down and then animate it onto the screen from the right. On button click again, I animate the div to the right, off the screen, and then move it up. I also toggle its width & padding so it will appear to grow/shrink as it moves on/off screen. At least that's what I am trying to do. The animation onto the screen looks good, but going off the screen, it appears to happen intantaneously, instead of animatedDoes anyone know how I can fix this?

I'm having some issues using the cookie persistence, it appears that as long as the link is in the jsp directory the menu renders properly, however if the link is not in the jsp directory the cookie is set to null and when the page loads all of the trees are expanded.
Here is the abridged version of the file that I'm using, this is included on all pages of my application.

I load the content from json, but I lose persistence of location. I get the tree folded and I don't know what branch I'm on to. I managed to fix this by pasting the location code in .async.js,
var sm = current.find("a").filter(function() { return
this.href.toLowerCase() == location.href.toLowerCase(); });
if ( sm.length ) {
sm.addClass("selected").parents
("ul, li").add( sm.next() ).show
();
}
But now the branch is marked as selected, however the tree is not open (all folded).

How can I fire the load event for just certain LI when using the async treeview?
