JQuery :: Plugin For Styling <select> ?
Jun 1, 2009I've been looking around the web for solutions to styling HTML form elements and haven't come up with much. Has anyone found a jQuery plugin (or possibly a standalone javascript) that lets you do this? I'm especially interested in styling the <select> element, but it would be great to know to have a resource that styles other items as well. It would need to be compatible with IE6+

Jun 25, 2010I am using a VERY simple jquery plugin for styling drop down select menus.. The installation and implementation was SUPER simple.. Drop code here, name your select area, call for the jquery and JS pages.. Got it all working but I need just one little fix and I thought i figured it out, but apparently not. The person who created it did so with a max height option that is calculated based on the length of the list (it seems). This, to me, is crazy.. so if i have a three item list, there will ALWAYS be a scroller because its calculating the max height at one line item less than what is there. I have a div, with id "map" in my code and I am creating the map with the following code, passing in a JSON object for config:

I want to programatically re-center the map and add markers elsewhere in my code, but don't know how to access this JSON object to modify it.
The way I'm currently doing this is to call gMap again with some new configuration, but I don't think this is right as I think it's re-creating the map all over again.

I was looking for something that would allow me to scatter elements (divs w/ background-images) behind text. Splatter is almost what I want, but I would need:
- no overlap in the positioning of elements
- keep the elements inside the container
- remove the default asterisk completely
As I have varying article dimensions, this keeps the splatter area the right size:

I want to loaded a new carousel into a <div> after the page is loaded using the $('#mydiv').load('myscript.php') function that calls a php script returning the html code for the carousel, containing a list of images.So I have a <ul> of pictures that doesn't work as a carousel without the CSS and jquery code that has been loaded on the page when my index.php loaded on the first place.So, since the page has already been loaded the carousel doesn't work properly.It seems like the jquery code for the carousel to work, should execute every time I load a new list of images with the load() function.

Jul 21, 2011I'm using Chrome and it's JSShell extension I remove the <emb> and some <iframe> tags from a lot of different sites because their annoying ads.
The I use code for most sites looks like this:
It doesn't do anything. If I don't use $(document).ready() it removes all the ads. Is there a way to do that before loading the document or am I doing something wrong.

Jan 12, 2011I have been trying to learn JavaScript and most recently jQuery. After playing with some cool stuff like hiding, showing, animating etc... html elements I started wondering if when doing this you should do it thinking about how your layout and be careful not to break it since I noticed that when for instance if you hide a div it actually takes it out of the normal flow and if this div is part of the layout structure it could potentially break it.
Is it a common practice to think about the layout when using JavaScript/jQuery to play with elements or objects on a page?
Is this the first think before making any modification to any element that could affect the layout or is there something that I'm not aware of to prevent from taken these elements out of the normal flow?
JQuery :: Ajax Call Modifying Returned Html
Jul 7, 2009I have a problem with returning html data from an ajax request. I have php method which is called via ajax and returns a long html string which consists of multiple tables, each table represents one question in a questionnaire. They display fine. I then have a button which calls a second php method that returns one individual table - identical in structure to the multiple tables that were returned previously. However,when displayed,the new table has the an inline style "display:block;" and so it screws up the way it looks. I have, at no point, declared this additional style anywhere in my code. Even if I do add an inline style of "display:table;" to the returned html, it is overwritten in the output html - so it is clearly being done by javascript.

Nov 10, 2010I am trying to modify the ExpCollGroup function within Share Point (2003) and don't have access to server or ows.js file where the function lives. I want the ExpCollGroup function to run (I'm using it to expand/collapse documents in a document library), and then when finished, want to be able to run my own function like DoSomething(). The below code works but fires before the ExpCollGroup code executes. What can I do to make the ExpCollGroup function execute, and then perform my DoSomething function?
