JQuery :: Show But Effect Moves Down Instead Of Diagonal?
Jun 7, 2010
I've got a div with a border around it. I'm using toggle so that when you click on a hyperlink on the page, it toggles and shows that div. When that div renders with the show, the border is painted diagonally when it starts to render to the page.
Is it possible to make that render action somehow render up and down or even a different type of effect? I do not like how the border panes diagonally when that div is shown.
I can't find anything yet in the jQuery docs that would allow this. Maybe I just overlooked it?

Im having a bit of trouble with the bounce show effect from jquery ui. To see what I mean, check out my development site. Anytime you modify a part in this computer builder, the rigth side gets updated. Right now its removing and adding list items. Problem is when click items too fast, the animation doesnt finish and the next item gets bumped lower and lower.

Is there anything out there that allows for a diagonal and vertical text capture in javascript or jQuery? I was not successful in finding anything. I have a game similar to word find that I've developed, but I need to be able to capture text vertically and diagonally. Otherwise, the only solution will be for me to do a by-click basis to capture items on the screen. I found the script below which handles horizontal capturing:
<script type="text/javascript">
document.body.style.cursor="url(3DArrow.cur), crosshair" ;
if (!window.Kolich){
Kolich = {};
} Kolich.Selector = {};
Kolich.Selector.getSelected = function(){
var t = '';
if (window.getSelection){
t = window.getSelection();
}else if(document.getSelection){
t = document.getSelection();
}else if(document.selection){
t = document.selection.createRange().text;
}return t;
}Kolich.Selector.mouseup = function(){
var st = Kolich.Selector.getSelected();
sel_text=st.replace(/s/gi,"");
if(st!=''){
alert("You selected:"+sel_text);
}}
$(document).ready(function(){
$(document).bind("mouseup", Kolich.Selector.mouseup);});
</script>

I am trying to find if a script exists to have an image slide-show which moves to the right when the cursor moves to the right and so on for the left. We have managed to find someone else who has done exactly what she wants but it's in flash and I have no experience at all in flash. So I was wondering if anyone knows of a script which does the exact same thing? Below is the link to the site where they have managed to do what we are looking for in Flash: [URL]

I'm just trying to get used to jquery. I decided to try and make a simple drop down menu so I used the jquery show/hide effect with mouse events. I just have issues with this effect and wonder if I am going about it in the right way. here is my code for the show/hide:
$(".menu").mouseenter(function() {
$(".submenu", this).show("fast")
});
$(".menu").mouseleave(function() {
$(".submenu", this).hide("fast")
});
If I move my mouse over the mouse event area the menu opens the way I want it to and If I move my mouse off the mouse event area it closes the way I want it to. But if I do it rapidly its like jquery has to open and close the menu for each instance I go over or out of the area and it has to play "catch up". My mouse could be inactive and somewhere off in the corner and the menu is opening and closing "x" amount of times to complete all its tasks. From what I understand this is called "queueing" in jquery and this feature can be turned off so I tried something like this:
$(".menu").mouseenter(function() {
$(".submenu", this).clearQueue().show("fast")
});
Doing this causes a worse problem because now if I go rapidly eventually they won't even open at all. In the best case I would like the menu to have a slight delay when I move the mouse off of it and then when I return the mouse to the menu I would like it to cancel the previous "mouseleave" event.
It is possible through the show effect or should I should I be using the animate effect to create a custom animation. If so what do I "animate" with the animate effect. I tried ".animate({dispaly: "show")} but all that does it quickly shows the menu and then it disappears.
to explain the basics of my menu design the class "menu" has the top level menu title within that element itts child is the submenu element with all the submenu items on it. The submenu is set to absolute positioning so it doesn't effect anything when it opens/closes and by default the display is none. This all works great with the ".show()" effect except for the queueing issue.

I have a CSS menu that I created using div that current appears using the hover function in the CSS. What I would like to do is incorporate javascript to utilise the effect of fading in when the mouse moves over the 'menu' text and then with a delay fades out when the mouse moves out of the menu area.

I would want to show a div (the information about the song) when the visitor hover on a cover art on a radio website but this div overlap the cover art with an opacity of 0.7
You can see an example here: [url]
The problem is that when the information div appears, the mouse pointer isn't on the cover art div anymore for the navigator so the information div disappears, and so on... resulting in a flash effect.
How can I do this without the flash effect?

Code:
<script type="text/javascript">

I have an odd issue for which I hope someone has a solution. I'm using the jQuery accordion to display a list of links in the left column of a table. When I click to expand the accordion in the left column, the table data in the right column moves to the right for a moment and then moves back to it's original position when the accordion finishes expanding Here is a link to the page:

I'm using the apycom jquery menu style 1 (dim grey)URL..It's a great looking menu but does anyone know how to 'delay' the dropdown menu closure when your mouse moves off of it?I can change the speed of the menu opening and closing, but not can't find a way to delay.It's too easy for visitors to 'slip' off the menu and if you have two child menu's, it get frustraing if you drill down to the secon child menu and slip off. You have to go back to the top menu and start again.

I have seen this script a few places, not sure it was jquery but I figured it was.
I am looking for a script that opens a lightbox when someone moves the mouse over to close the browser window or change the url or type in the search bar, a lightbox pops up.
I spend a bit of time searching and can't find the script.

[URL] Note check box in left vertical column, at top, encapsuled between a and b, click, click, click. That is what it should do. Open in IE, clicking same thing, nothing happens. The recipe for anything to happen is:
1. refresh
2. check the check box encapsuled between a and b
3. Click first checkbox to the right :eek:
Getting nowhere here, as far as I see IE reports no js errors.

All other browsers work fine, but IE 9 flickers on the rotating gallery on this dev site..This is the JS function primarily responsible for it.
Code:
this.fadeRotate = function(currentItem,className,firstTime){
var moduleClass = document.getElementsByClassName(className);
var moduleItemCount = moduleClass.length;
if(moduleItemCount != 1){
[Code]...
To narrow it down more, it only seems to happen when you mouse in and out of certain divs.

Have an asp.net form where the textboxes have had the onblur attribute added. Though VS2008 still barks it's an invalid attribute...However, my problem is primarily w/the txtFICODate field.When testing using 10/10/2009 in this field, the code displays the appropriate msg based on format param. However, on exiting the isValidDate function in debug mode, I see that the code does not stop at the txtFICODate html but moves to the txtDOBB isValidDate function. Here the param is MM/DD/YYYY and it loops back into the function but now displays a different format message.Previous code (ValidateFICODate(obj)) below also caused the same looping error.
Debugging the same code with the txtDOBB field (10/10/56), I see it enter the function, display the appropriate message and exit. However, in debug, the code comes back to the function and then selects the field contents.how to fix problem so code stops at the txtFICODate field .Using xp Pro SP3, visual studio 2008 (c#).in the process of writing this, I searched other post here related to onblur + loop. So changed the event to onchange...and while the looping does not now occur, the focus just moves to the next field.
On page load code(if (!isPostBack)):
txtFICODate.Attributes.Add("onblur", "isValidDate(this, 'MM/DD/YY');");
txtDOBB.Attributes.Add("onblur", "isValidDate(this, 'MM/DD/YYYY');");

I have a question, I'm developing my own LightBox with jQuery, and I call 2 function, animate and fadeIn and both of them work with the same element, fadeIn also with 2 elements more, but this isn't problem. And fadeIn I call before animate and here is the issue, it starts animate this element by fadeIn and after it is done, start function animate. But in second part, I call it again, and the element, which I animate in both of them, can't animate by fadeIn because he is visible, so immediately start function animate.

Hey everyone, I'm working on a website, and I have one page that uses a forum that is supplied by tal.ki.The forum works fine, but the .js file that the forum uses is grabbing the image that I am using as my header on the page (not in the header of the html, just on top of the page) and moves it down and right from where it is supposed to be. My apologizes for the file being so long, but I have no idea which line it is that makes the image move. If needed, I have pictures of how it looks in the program that I use, vs. how it looks when viewed in a browser.

window.chatter = function() { return this; }();
