JQuery :: Scroll Bar Expands Instead Of Scrolling?
Jun 9, 2010
I've got a project that slides vertically in conjunction with the nav menu. I've also got a scroll bar setup, in case the user has javascript is disabled. Both them work correctly, independent of each other; page slides or scrolls. But, I noticed that when I use the nav menu to navigate, the scroll bar gets bigger and fills the entire side instead of moving with the page.

I have a site that made extensive use of javascript event handlers embedded in the html. I am trying to port the code to jquery and I notice that after the conversion, pages don't scroll as fast or smoothly as they did before. I actually notice this on many sites that make use of jquery or some other jscript library. What causes this behavior, and is there anything that can be done to minimize the sluggishness of the site?

I'm trying to add scrolling buttons that scroll the page onmousover. They work great, however, since the duration is a fixed value, and the distance changes based on how far the user scrolls, it sometimes scrolls fine (when the distance and duration are proportioned), and very slow (when the duration is way higher than the distance)...
Is there any way to change the duration based on the distance?
To make some sort of "speed" setting, instead of a constant duration?
Here is the code
It just scrolls a div that has overflown content.

I know that iframes can be set to have scroll bars automatically apear when needed or put them there permanantly. However, I would like to have a Javascript slider on the topmost page scroll the iframe. It was possible to make a link on the topmost page change the content of the iframe by putting the iframe name in the link's target. Is this possible with a slider? I ask this because some of the content inside the iframe is on external pages so obviously we can't add the scroll bar there.

I've got an accordion menu that expands and collapses fine, but when I click on the links contained in the lists within the links don't open.
JavaScript snippet:
Code:
And the code for the lists:
Code:
If I remove the return false, the inner links work fine but it appends a '#' to the end of the URL in the address bar and I'd rather it didn't do that. How can I alter the jquery so the inner links still work but the links with the '#' as href don't append the '#' to the end of the page URL?

You know when you go to a website, and you see a window that expands with content in it. It also gives you the option to close it. What do you call this window? I forgot, but told myself I would go back and learn it.

I have a demo here - [url]

Problem here is on the Mac the transition are jumpy and it seems to flash the first yellow div before sliding up or down. Testing on a PC it will slide down but won't slide up. How can I get the whole browser window to slide up and down with a smooth transition.

im searching for a plugin/code example for text scrolling. I got some text in a <div> if text is longer than for example 300px it gets cut and is scrolling from start to end, stops for a second and then scrolls back, stops and all over, and if its not long enough than 300px then just displays normaly. Something similar to the Song name scrolling inin anyMP3 player.

currently on our site we have and expanding <div> that responds to both the onmouseover and onmouseout events. It works wonderfully.
The UX people now would like the expanding <div> to open with the onclick event and then as soon as the mouse leaves the expanded div, it would close. I have tried using the onmouseout event in conjunction the onclick event but it does not work (the div persists).

I've tested across IE7,Firefox, Chrome, Safari and the only browser I experience this issue in is Opera. I have 3 icons at the bottom of the page (facebook, rainbow, charity logo) and on mouseover the whole site expands downwards (it's not supposed to do that). I've googled for reasons why it would do this but have found none. [URL]...

IE to take a 50x50 background image that is repeat-x and have the looped image look like its scrolling from left to right at variable speeds?

I am using a dialog where my content causes scrollbars to appear. In IE8 everything acts as expected and scrolls smoothly. It's only using IE6 and IE7 that causes the problems. Content doesn't scroll at all. Scrollbars move, but content doesn't and then suddenly it does, but appears on top of the titlebar.

I'm developing a web application that uses kinetic (momentum weighted) scrolling inside a jquery-ui plugin. The recent introduction of OSX Lion with native kinetic scrolling support has made scrolling - that worked in previous osx versions - go haywire.
I am wondering if there is any way to detect kinetic scrolling as a feature, instead of blacklisting OSX 10.7 and putting OS-specific workarounds. Perhaps in the next iteration of jQuery we can include in the jQuery.support a flag for OSes that use kinetic scrolling.
Note that in OSX Lion, kinetic scrolling is implemented at the OS level, not the browser level, and both chrome and safari (et al) behave similarly.
