I have created a presentation style webpage, which progressive hides and shows divs on mouse clicks. The problem is that Flash videos are embedded in between some of the divs and so I do not want to click onto the next slide when the mouse is over the Flash object. To avoid this, I have used the above code, which works fine in Firefox 3.most-recent and IE 6,7 and 8. However, it does not work in Safari or Google Chrome on the mac, which leads me to suspect a Webkit issue.

I want to write a javascript program which will redirect the user from a welcome page to an an intro page when a cookie is found. If there are not cookies found, the welcome page is loaded but a cookie is written so that next time the user visits the page, he will be redirected to the intro page automatically.This program would allow only new visitor to view the welcome page and other visitors to skip the welcome page to be brought to the intro page right away.

According to the Safari browser the world began on "Fri Dec 13 1901 15:45:52 GMT-0500", but I need to be able to get around this limitation.
I am interested in dates from 1500 to 1901, as far as I can determine, there are 14 possible calendar variations.
Year starts on Sun, Mon..... Leap year starts on Sun, Mon..
I can label these early year "types" as a number between 0 and 13.
Let's say 2005 is type 5, and that 1655 is too. (In both years Jan 1 falls on a Saturday)
I'm trying to create a function that will identify the "type" of year.

I am integrating PHP with javascript and css to create an image gallery for an art site. When a user clicks a thumbnail, the painting shows above the thumbnails, and data about the painting, along with an artist statement (in the form of an image) shows up on the right side. Everything works as it should with firefox and safari, but the statement image is not showing up in explorer. I right click the broken image and it shows the correct url, but the image is not/won't be displayed. What am I missing?

I am trying some simple things with javascript and trying to use it in a object oriented way. However I am now facing a problem in which I can't access an object variable from an object method. I am using jQuery.

I'm using Fancy Form Slider and love it. In firefox, it's working great. In Safari, its not so hot. Check it out:[URL].. It renders fine in both, but the animation is acting REALLY weird in safari.
I've used alerts to see if its using the correct data, and it is. Both the "current" and the new marginLeft are properly being set (in fact, it IS being set in safari, because when i inspect the element, it has the right margin-left data thats being alerted. There's no errors being thrown into the error console, either.

I'm building a simple corporate site (temp on my server) for a friend's company and am having an issue with an animation I have implemented. everything has worked fine for me (mac, firefox and safari) but my friend sent me a couple screenshots of the animation freezing on his computer (safari) when it is only halfway complete. the two examples are:

I am attempting to create a form that submits with AJAX on each input change using Malsup's Form Plugin. However, I run into a problem on submitting the form the second time when using a browser besides Firefox. In Safari 5, after the second submission the form stops doing the calculations (besides the English to metric conversions). In Internet Explorer 8, the second submission opens a new window with the handler.php page, which the main page refers to. Here is a live link and here is my code:

Ok, So check out [URL].. The index jquery works fine on all three browsers (last I checked) Now go to [URL]..php or any other secondary page. The jquery has gone loopy and is not working! i'm new to jquery and javascript and am self taught (so i am always new to everything!!). my concept is to keep a web page side bar and header and to use menu items ( on click and load) to place pages into my main div. I have done that with images on the first loaded page...then if you click on the images another page gets loaded into the same div this works in ie, chrome and firefox...but not in safari.i don't know if i have a code problem, i have placed my javascriptin the wrong areaor it just is not possible..

I'm using jQuery 1.4.2 and attempting to parse an RSS XML file via AJAX. In Firefox, using "media\:thumbnail" works fine to get an element with a namespace. This fails in IE 8, Safari for Windows and Safari for Mac and iPhone. Getting other elements without a namespace works fine in all browsers. Here is a code snippet:

I'm developing a website and I need the browser to scroll to an anchor. It MUST be animated, so I tried to use jQuery for that. Tried this:

It works perfectly on Firefox and Safari(on the Mac). On Mobile Safari it first goes to the top of the page, then it scrolls to the anchor I want it to scroll to. What's the trick to make it work?

First off, a quick THANK YOU for making cluetip! I'm using it and loving it but I have an issue with it under iPhone/ Mobile Safari. Basically, when I view a page with a desktop browser, cluetip activates on hover and does what I want. However, on the iPhone, cluetip displays whenever a link is tapped that would normally display the cluetip hover in a desktop browser. So, is there a way to fix this behavior in cluetip? If not, can I disable cluetip (or stop it from loading) when an iPhone requests the page?

I have just started a new job and am building my first website for them. I am using Jquery to try and impress them but after trying and testing the site in Safari, I am stumped as to why such a basic function its going wrong. The script works fine in ie and firefox so. I have stripped all the non necessary code out of this and placed the css and javascript inside the head.

If you load that code in firefox you will see that by clicking on 'show porfolio', a yellow div slides open and pushes the black div to the right. You click 'hide portfolio' and the black div slides back and the yellow div hides. You can open and close the portfolio div as often as you like and it works a treat. If you try doing the same in safari, it works the first time but then
it starts pushing the black div down.

I have an input box searching a XML file for a string. Anything the user types in, the script searches through the XML file in the "name" and "conference" tags for results. This works just fine in Firefox. However, in Safari, it only returns a result when a single search result is found. I've narrowed it down to this line, and I have no idea what is wrong with it. my use of selectors in this way? Or is it a Webkit bug?

I'm developing with jQuery quite long right now, but recently I spotted one big problem with execution of jQuery code in Safari and Chrome. So everything is working fine in these browsers until jQuery code is placed in one page. But when using for example tabs plug-in loaded with ajax and on this loaded page exists some extra jQuery code it isn't executed.Co page is loaded but nothing is happening with code which was included. This problem doesn't exists in IE, FF or Opera. It appears only in Safari and Chrome. The same problem is when I'm loading page with $.get, $.post or $.ajax query. So it doesn't affect tabs plug-in but
overall functionality. I was checking that with latest versions of jQuery and UI today.
