JQuery :: Playing Arround With Integers?
Nov 28, 2011
I'm playing arround with integers.
1.000.000,00 // throw error
1,000,000,00 // throw error
1000,00 // success
100.00 // success
And on success I have to get all numbers before the dot or comma .

User clicks on image map that displays DIV1 with player id="Player1". When user clicks on another part of the map, DIV2 appears with another video - but DIV1's player "Player1" keeps playing. How can I stop the event after going to another div? Lots of efforts "out there" but I've yet to find out just how to do it successfully.

Write a program which takes a series of positive integers as input : 1, 2, 3 …
When input is complete, as indicated by entry of an end of data flag ( -2), the program will output the largest of the entered values.

I am implementing several scriptaculous sliders in my app... and one thing I can see being an issue is setting their "values" property to limit the selectable values.
This property takes an array of integers representing the allowable values. Unfortunately without this property, the slider will allow you to select a decimal value, so I can't just use a min and max if I only want integer values output.
Creating an array for a small data set is simple: for example "values: [0, 1, 2, 3, 4, 5]"
But some of my sliders will range into the hundreds and need an array of hundreds of allowable values. Is there a simple way to generate an array of 0 to 100 integer values (or more). I know I could use a for loop but it seems to me there might be an even easier way, though I cannot find it.
I would like it to fit in a code block like this:
javascript Code:
var s1 = new Control.Slider('handle1',
'track1',
{
axis:'horizontal',
[Code]....
EDIT: for further clarification, I found that PHP has a range() function that does exactly what I want. Anything comparable in Javascript? [URL]

I'm trying to match all integers before and after the hyphen:
12345-5
This is what I tried but always returns null
Code:
var divID = '12345-5';
var idPattern = /^[0-9]+$/; //Matching one or more numbers before the hyphen
var id2Pattern = /^-[0-9]+$/; //Matching starts from the hyphen and all numbers that proceed
[code]....

I'm a newbie to javascript and I made this script
<script>
var num = parseInt(prompt("Enter the number of integers to follow"));
var sum = 0;
for (i = 0; i < num; i++){
sum += parseInt(prompt("Enter a number"));
}
if (isNaN(num)) {
alert("Invalid");
} else {
if (sum < 0) {
document.writeln("The sum is 0 and the average is 0");
} else {
document.writeln("The sum is " + sum + " and the average is " + sum/num);
}
}
</script>
The scenario : Create in javascript that will read a series of integers at the terminal. The first integer is special, as it indicates how many more integers will follow. Your javascript is to calculate the sum and average of the integers, excluding the first integer, and display these values to the screen. If the total is not greater than 0 then display "The sum is 0 and the average is 0". Did I write the script correctly? am I missing anything that a dumb person might do? for example the person might type in letters instead of numbers.

i have this simple function...
function update(value, oldvalue)
{
var a = value;
var b = oldvalue;
var result = a + b;
document.form.fieldname.value=result;
}
and call the function using a field with this...
onkeyup="update(this.value, other)"
But all its doing is concatenating the 2 numbers together as though they are strings!!!
so if this.value = 11
and other = 15
it displays 1115
i want to add them and display the total, do i need to specify them as being integers or something?

I am having an issue with flash that are being called using javascript not playing .
Here is an example of one of the pages: [url]
This page is referencing a file called terry.js
For some reason the flash banners we use work just fine: [url]
Its only the videos that aren't working. We are referencing the videos the same way we reference the banners with the exception of the their class names.
The weird thing is that these videos were working just fine last week but now they simply do not display.

I have a couple of forms that require both an autocomplete field, and a date picker field. I'm using the ui.datepicker and Jorn's autocomplete.
The problem is that Jorn's autocomplete requires the dimensions plugin. When the dimensions plug in is in place, the datepicker is getting given the wrong values for the top position of the calendar. If I take the dimension plugin out, the calendar behaves properly, but the autocomplete throws an error. ( "list.scrollTop is not a function" ). With dimensions, the calendar slides down as usual, but once sliding is complete the calendar snaps above the text box - with parts of the calendar off the visible area of the page (i.e. hiding behind the toolbars).

I have just started a new job and am building my first website for them. I am using Jquery to try and impress them but after trying and testing the site in Safari, I am stumped as to why such a basic function its going wrong. The script works fine in ie and firefox so. I have stripped all the non necessary code out of this and placed the css and javascript inside the head.
Code:
<html>
<head>
<style type="text/css">
html {
font-size:16px;
margin:0;
padding:0
} body,div,p {
margin:0;
padding:0;
background: #eee;
} .....
If you load that code in firefox you will see that by clicking on 'show porfolio', a yellow div slides open and pushes the black div to the right. You click 'hide portfolio' and the black div slides back and the yellow div hides. You can open and close the portfolio div as often as you like and it works a treat. If you try doing the same in safari, it works the first time but then
it starts pushing the black div down.

I'm using jme [URL] to play videos with the new html5 video tag and OGG codec. Works fine - but now I need to have some sort of callback once a video has finished playing. How can I determine when a video has finished playing to take some action? There's a method .isPlaying() which could be used for this but maybe there's a more elegant way.

I've got a problem with a jQuery slider I'm using on a website I'm currently developing (temporarily hosted at [URL]. Generally it looks and functions as I'd like it to, but it seems to have a problem when you're looking at other tabs/websites in your web browser. When you come back to the slider having been looking at something else for a minute or so, the slider effectively plays catch up and quickly scrolls through the slides faster than usual until it catches up with the position it would have been in had you not have been looking at another tab and left it to run. This seems to happen in all web browsers as far as I can tell.

my website [URL] has been left unfinished by my friend and it doesnt look like he can finish it now. I have some understanding of code and have manually edited the existing pages in notepad to fix some issues. The one issue I have left is on the javascript samples player which overlays the main screen. I have all of the files (an flv and swf plus a folder full of js and a vbs file). As you will see, the morning chapter does not play but all of the others do. I have checked the flv in a player and it works fine, and it was created in the same way as the others. All flv and swf files are uploaded correctly I just can't work out why it is not working.

i've got the following code that checks the browser width and then redirect is it's under 500px, but IE 5.5 just redirects regardless:
<script language="javascript" type="text/javascript">
function checkBrowserWidth()
{
var theWidth = getBrowserWidth();
if (theWidth < 499)
{
window.location.replace("/handheld/");
}
return true;
}
function getBrowserWidth()
{
if (window.innerWidth)
{
return window.innerWidth;
}
else if (document.documentElement && document.documentElement.clientWidth != 0)
{
return document.documentElement.clientWidth;
}
else if (document.body)
{
return document.body.clientWidth;
}
return 0;
}
checkBrowserWidth();
window.onload = checkBrowserWidth;
</script>
any ideas??
