I have used sophisticated selectors in the past but for some reason am brain-tied right now.I have a clickable div followed by another div (a sibling. not a child) that will reveal when clicked.
of course it works when hardcoding the second div as the target but I want to make it reusable so that it looks for the next div matching that class selector

There is simple html like this:
<ul id="icons">
<li class="icon1 hoverNow"><img src="some/pic1.jpg"/></li>
<li class="icon2"><img src="some/pic2.jpg"/></li>
<li class="icon3"><img src="some/pic3.jpg"/></li>
<li class="icon4"><img src="some/pic4.jpg"/></li>
</ul>
where class 'hoverNow' means, that opacity of the image is 1.0, while others 0.5. This done with css.
i want to do, that when mouse hover the 'li' element, image, IF it's not in the li element, who's having class 'hoverNow', become with opacity 1.0, and on mouseover, again will have 0.5 opacity. For this, i write this simple code:

This might have been resolved, but I can't find a solution with mysearch. I'm trying to add a class with the text of the option. Simpleto do the selected option, but not all of them it seems.I want to change:

I have a site that can consist of one or several (up to 20) select boxes that all list the same data (TeamID, Team). There are about 8000 list items to be loaded in the select box.This data is fetched in a seperate file using php+sql and with javascript and ajax, I populate the boxes. Note that these are populated on page load and not based on a specific action/change. The script looks for select boxes that have the class="ajax-team-list". Well, the above works. My drop-downs are being populated. However, it takes an insanely amount of time (30 seconds in IE). Skipping the javascript and only using php to get the same output takes 2-4 seconds, so something must really be messed up in the code, or?Any ideas, suggestions or thoughts about an alternative solution? For whatever reason, Firefox loads the above code in 2-4 seconds, Chrome takes 12 seconds.. and like I mentioned, IE takes 30 seconds.

I would like to select two elements in each of these div.city elements to act on them. How can I do that?

As soon as I add this line of code, .selected is nothi-lightedany more. Now, I understand that this is the way this function is supposed to work (guess so,otherwiseit's a bug), but I couldn't find any function in documentation that would go from my current element to the first element that has that classapplied and skip everything in between.
in FCK-Editor I would like to do the following:On one page there should be severalHeaderText under the header, which is hidden, when the text is loaded and slides up and down after click on headerHtml, which is easy to edit with FCK could look like this:

I have a form that has a bunch of text inputs, and I would like to select all that don't already have a class "errorClass" assigned to them. My JQuery currently is:
$('input[type="text"]').addClass("idleField");
But that adds the class "idleField" to ALL text fields, overriding the ones that already had the class "errorClass" assigned to it. What is the proper syntax to add the "idleField" class to all text inputs that don't have the "errorClass" assigned?
I am manipulating a style on elements with class="House" or "Senate." Unfortunately, it sets the style for every child underneath. [code]...
View 7 Replies View Related$('a[class*=myclass]') selects all a elements whose class attribute contains 'myclass', how do I do the opposite?
View 1 Replies View RelatedI understand that using
Code:
.parent(".class")
I can select the parent of the current element if it (the parent) has a class named "class". How can I select parents that don't have a certain class? Also, how can I select parents that don't have more than one class? Does the .parent() method allow to do this?
How to validate input or select based on the class used?
For example: <input id="name" type="text" class="alphanumeric" value="">
Then for the validation:
if input class = "alphanumeric"
if !isAlphaNumeric(input.value)
alert(Enter valid value);input.focus
Before, I used onblur on the input to call the validator but it keeps prompting when I tried to out focus the input and I need to refresh the page.

What is happening is $(this) is no longer based on .expand being the (this) that is clicked.
like if i have a button SOMEWHERE randomly on the page with this
<div onclick="Minimize('_alerts');">Click Here</div> this will minimize alerts but because the (this) in minimize function doesn't actually point to the right button that I want to add a class to.
Is there a way to modify the minimize function so that it finds the <div id="mytoggle"><ul> <li class="expand boxminimize" rel="_alerts"> using the rel toggle, and then changes the class of the li from expand boxminimize to boxexpanded??
just like the .expand click function I posted on the top of the post that works?

I've seen a variety of implementations around that enable selecting all or no checkboxes by using a checkbox to toggle that choice. However, I'm trying to find a way like this: I have two text links on my page: Select All, and Select None. How can I get those links to call a jquery function to select all or select no checkboxes in my form? As a little food for thought:

$(function() {
//function for selecting all or none...is there a way to make a single function that passes in a parameter to differentiate between selecting all or selecting none, or do I need a separate function for both?[code]....
I have a huge blob of code but the main part I am focusing on is this
$('.billboard_click').click(function () {
//this remove class
$(".billboard_click").removeClass("billboard_click");
});
1. Execute a click event when the div with the class 'billboard_click' is clicked
2. Once clicked, remove the class from that very div to avoid another click from happening
3. Execute a series of events such as animations, etc
4. add the class back to the clicker div
The code does not seem to work as expected but I am wondering if I am having issues elsewhere at this point and wonder if this actually is known to work
I am new to this discussion but hope you would post reply for my query and encourage me to keep in touch with this discussion. Well here is my problem. I have made an edit in place form in which we can add and remove the elements. I have used jquery.jeditable.mini.js and jquery.duplicate-remove.js plugins for edit in place and add and remove action. I have live() function to access the dynamically ganerated elements like this. $(".addressDiv span").live("mouseover", function(){

I'm trying to figure out which selector is faster (assuming that the class 'foo' only appears on input tags)...
$('.foo');
or
$('input.foo');
From what I've seen online, it seems that people recommend $('input.foo'), but in some limited testing it appears that $('.foo') is much faster in both FF and Chrome. In IE, both methods seem to produce similar results. Here is a fiddle with a simple example...
[URL]
Have browsers started implementing native ways to find all elements with a given class name? Would that explain why $('.foo') seems to be faster?
[URL] The above webpage lists the selector .class.class without an example. I can't find this usage in jQuery document either. I made the following example, but it doesn't work. Could anybody let me know who to use the .class.class selector?
