JQuery :: Loading Large Amount Of (small) Images?

May 19, 2010

I'm working on a project that involves a page with a large amount of images (sometimes 400+). What's the best way to handle this? Should I track the loading-state of all of them, or is it save to assume I can do stuff as soon as the last image is loaded? So.

Large Amount Of Hidden Iframes??

Jul 20, 2005

What would be the danger in having a lot of hidden iframes? i.e.
potentialy 30-40. I need to store a bunch of data and thought about
using hidden iframes to do it but wasn't sure if this would bog down
my page or not. Opinions? I know this is not an IDEAL way to store
data but I'm at my whitts end and it sounds like a nice workaround

I want to preserve the formatting on it, ie the indenting. Before any

Using LocalStorage To Store A Large Amount Of Data - > 5mb

Dec 13, 2011

I've been using localStorage to store a large amount of data (> 5mb). I know that most browsers limit localStorage to 5mb. However, on the specification site it states,

Quote:

User agents may prompt the user when quotas are reached, allowing the user to grant a site more space. This enables sites to store many user-created documents on the user's computer, for instance.

Is this available yet? If so, how would I use it?

Change The CSS Property FontSize To Increase Over A Small Amount Of Time?

Jan 20, 2010

I am trying to use Javascript to change the CSS property fontSize to increase over a small amount of time. Here's the code:

Code:
function iscalled(id)
{
changesize(15,25,id)

[Code]....

I want to have the font size dynamically change, in the (id) object. I experimented with several versions of setTimeout, because it wasn't delaying at all. This script will run through setattr() only twice and doesn't modify the font size.

JQuery :: .load() Loading Very Small Files Slowly ?

Feb 15, 2010

I'm starting to use JQuery ajax and am seeing a second-2 delay in the loading of a line of text when I click on the link.

Here is the JQuery code

Content should load when the slideUp is done but it normally doesn't change the content till halfway through the slide down because of the delay.

I've tried without the slideup/down but it still has this delay.

The content to load is at most 8 words.

JQuery :: Loading / Handling Large Data For Sorting And Pagination?

We are using jQuery JavaScript Library v1.3.1 for paging and sorting purposes. This library is working fine when we are loading smaller
data sets (<1000 records) on the page. However, when data set starts getting large (>3000 records), the initial page gives a script loading
error and the page does not load at all.

JQuery :: Show Loader While Loading Large Amounts Of Data?

Oct 1, 2009

I am having a little problem trying to show a loader (An animated GIF) while some request to a database happens. I have a page where the user selects a YEAR and when they select it with AJAX I perform a request to a database to get all the values for that specific year.

The problem is that there is a lot of information (4000+ records) that I need to query and show in a table (Actually I didn't use a table I use DIVs that look like a table), and when the user selects the year the webpage freezes for about 5 seconds and then it loads all of the data.

Is there a way to sort of show an image loader gif while the data is being gotten? I tried putting the loader image in the DIV container while no year is selected and then once the request is done, I substitute the DIV container's contents (The image loader) for the data from the database.

Mobile Safari To Deal With Too Large Images

Dec 4, 2010

I am making a mobile version for our bulletin board website. Users often post photo's by hotlinking and on the desktop this is no problem. But on a mobile phone (I test with an iPhone) these images are just waaay to large to load.First of all: The size of the photo. It's dimentions. They are way to big for a mobile screen to display they fully, so I now have a javascript that shrinks all loaded images to a max width.

Problem is: The have to load first and while loading they mess up de rest of the text. It stretches the browsers viewport so people need to swipte to the left and back to the right UNTIL the photo is loaded. Only then the javascript puts the large images back in proportion. Is there a way that, while on loading a page with a lot of large photo's (postes by users), the photo's are resized WHILE loading? Even setting the max-width in css is not enough. The css property only applies after load.

Get An Image's Dimensions / Large Images Always Fail To Load

Oct 29, 2010

I have also Googled this issue plenty of times, but nothing seems to be working 100% and/or the "solution" found is several years old.I have a text field on a webpage where a user enters in a URL to an image and then clicks a button to preview it. I want to restrict the image's size, so if it is larger than 600x450 then it will be automatically resized to those dimensions. The problem I have with this code is that the myImage.onerror event always fires if the image is large. My question is: how do you make the script "wait" for the image to load completely before trying to retrieve the width and height? Or, even better, how do you prevent the image failing to load?

Also, I know how to get the image's dimensions via PHP; however, according to the getimagesize() function's documentation on php.net, the function downloads the image to the server before retrieving the image's width and height, which could be potential trouble if a malicious or ignorant user enters a URL to an excessively large image.

Ajax :: Loading Images - Big Images Don't Seem To Load Consistently?

Jul 26, 2009

I'm having difficulty loading images via Ajax on a site that I've been working on.I'm performing the ajax by using the Request.HTML object of the MooTools framework. Basically, I'm just passing some parameters to a php script which outputs some image tags and then I insert that HTML into a pre-defined content div. For some reason though, it seems that big images don't seem to load consistently when using this technique. Usually, they will just show up as broken images, but when I navigate to the url of the image that is 'broken', it displays just fine. Also, occasionally after navigating to the actual url of the image, my browser will cache the image and then it will display just fine when loading it through Ajax.
