I'm sure this is a fairly simple task using jQuery but I couldn't figure it out. I'd like to inject a CSS class or id into the body tag of a specific page upon load. I'm using Squarespace which is a web-based CMS and their forgot password page does not have an ID assigned to the body tag.
View 3 RepliesI'm using jQuery AJAX to request html pages so no refreshes will be needed when someone clicks an menu item. But the things is, I'm currently requesting HTML pages with no doctype, head and body tags.. just only the content (with just h1 tags and tags like that). The problem is that when I inject that into an div on my main page the css doesn't get applied to the injected content. It does set the text color and makes H1 an heading but it doesn't apply specific things like h1:first-letter. So I'm assuming it only applies general css properties like the text format I applied to the body of the main page. So the question is how can I make the css apply to the AJAX requested and injected content? Should I include an css file to the file I'm requesting? Should I use some jQuery function to apply it after the injection? Or .. ?
View 1 Replies View RelatedI'm working on a little project where they have a slider form and I need to piggyback a tiny line of code into the validation function for the form.
What I need to happen is when the user has filled in all the fields and clicks the submit button AND the data validates THEN a class is added to the body tag. My jQuery knowledge is very minimal - I added the code to where I 'thought' its supposed to go but it didnt seem to work.

I'm working on a site where we display two lists of boats, sail or power via the organic tabs plugin. Now, our client wants us to show one list type by default depending on the class of the body tag - for example, if the user was on a sailing boat page, the body would have a class of 'sailPage' and therefore the list that would be shown by default would be the 'sail list' - and vice versa for the power (although be default this one shows first anyways as it is the first 'panel' in the HTML') In my admittedly rather clumsy way, I've written the following jQuery function which does seem to work (well, the first half) - however when the user clicks back on to the 'power' tab whilst on page with a class of 'sail', the power list doesn't display. There also seems to be a problem in IE7 where the content of the lists will not display until you select the other tab first, and then select the second tab again?

I have a wordpress website with which I wish to provide content via an iframe on facebook.. Without using a wordpress plugin, I would like to know if I provide a function in jquery that basically says if viewport is equal to 520px then either load this css file or add this body class.. Also, if viewport is = to 520px then hide this element.. I think this can be done but after a lot of searching, I cannot seem to find a definative answer..

I've obtained some server side PHP code which places the browser and version (taken from the USER AGENT string response header) in a class of my body HTML element i.e. <body class="ie ie7"> I'm using this as a CSS hook for cross browser styling.
Im running the site on Wordpress with a caching plugin which spits out a HTML version of the page. The problem is, is that the cache doesnt refresh on a per new user basis so if the first user comes in using Chrome this will get added to static file <body class="chrome"> and obviosly wont refresh if the next user is on say IE as it is now cached as a flat HTML.
I'm wondering is there a better way to do this client side and manipulate the DOM after the page has loaded? If so, anyone got any code that can do this?code...

people view. There are a number of requirements. I am hoping there
might be a catch all that will allow us to do what we need.
Firstly once people load up IE. I would like a banner to be displayed
at the top of ie reminding people of internet use guidelines. I would
like this to be visable at all times on all pages.
The second part is that I would like to inject code into all pages that
have shockwave. The injection of code would either hide or show flash

Serverless situation where applet drives document scanner and captures images. Currently use data uri technique <img src="data:image/jpg;base64,BLAHBLAHBLAH> to dynamically change img src (image fed from the applet) when user wants to view a particular image.
Works great in firefox...In ie8, however, the 32K limit on data uri's stops me cold.
I researched switching over to MHTML techniques for IE only....but without server-side generation of the MHTML (or CSS), I am running into issues.
Does anyone know of a way to dynamically 'inject' MHTML content via javascript into current document for use as MHTML image ?
I'm trying to make my body content scroll at the same time as an iframe located within the body. This has to do with the age old problem of mouse focus on iframes. When my mouse reaches the iframe and it takes over focus, I would like the body to keep scrolling until the iframe is right at the top of the screen. After that I want to relinquish focus to the iframe. I don't mind if the iframe starts scrolling as soon as the mouse reaches it, so long as the main body keeps scrolling for a while.

I'm trying to figure out which selector is faster (assuming that the class 'foo' only appears on input tags)...

From what I've seen online, it seems that people recommend $('input.foo'), but in some limited testing it appears that $('.foo') is much faster in both FF and Chrome. In IE, both methods seem to produce similar results. Here is a fiddle with a simple example...

It's possible to style document.body not to start at 0,0 for example: body {width: 1000px; margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto;} This means that X/Y of the body is not 0,0 but how can I find out what the position is using javascript? document.body.offsetLeft; is 0 and offsetParent is null yet if I position something absolutely at 0,0 it goes to 0,0 of the window, not the body!

I am attempting to make a menu that has a background image that changeswhen you rollover or click a menuitem. I've got the hover effect working fine with CSS, but am trying to implement the click event via jquery with the following:

My process is to reset the entire menu to the inactive state, then switch on the active state for the item that was clicked. Eventually, the item that was clicked will display its corresponding body section as well. I've tried using the CSS pseudo-class "active", but since the entire div is the link, that is unavailable. I've also tried multiple variations of addClass/removeClass, toggleClass, and setAttribute/removeAttributebut nothing hasworked so far.

I just don´t know the right syntax for this:
I want to change the css class of the li element from the name hidden to the variable filterVal, but i don´t know the right syntax.
I'm using jquery to make it easy for AJAX calls.
So I create a class: function cMap(mapID){//vars and stuff}
I go and prototype a function: cMap.prototype.loadMap = function(){ //jquery AJAX call }
Now in the jquery $.ajax({...}); call, I use an anonymous function on the "success:" call: success: function(data){ this.member = data; }
My problem is that inside this anonymous function call I'm trying to call a class member of my cMap class to store the data in from the AJAX call, but it's out of scope. So the JS console in FF/Chrome throws errors about bad value/doesn't exist.
How can I access this class member from inside an anonymous function? Or at least what's a good way to go about doing all this?
