JQuery :: Deconstructed: A Visual, Interactive Breakdown Of The Internal Code?
Jul 19, 2010
I've been interested in the internal structure of jQuery for as long as I can remember, but it can be overwhelming at the best of times, so I've recently made-good on my plans to create a visual, interactive breakdown of the physical code:
If visual basic and firebug doesn't show me any error and if code doesn't work on any browser...so what should i do. I did a little boring - to read my code again to find a simple syntax errors like - writte() for exemple.
But even that does not give me anything! Is there any good recomendations how to change it all?
Look at this code:
Browser gives me out only - Please enter a valid name
I'm used to building objects in Visual Basic and I'm having difficulty simplifying this code into an object so I can just define and run about a dozen of them.
The code creates a button which changes on mouseover and on mouseclick. The button is a link to another page.
Also on mouseover the button slides to the right, giving a more intelligent feel for the user.
What are my options for streamlining this code so I can reduce the number of lines of code-clutter?
I have code to make a popup via javascript and it works fine, but what actually pops up is an external file that i select (in my case test.html). i want all of the code of test.html to be in my index.html and when i call the popup it doesn't call an external file but instead calls the html code in the internal file (index.html)? possible?
Code:
What's in test.html? it's a form
Why? i need the code of test.html to access some global javascript variables in index.html.
I have the original script I was using along with a modified script sent back to me from someone in another forum. They also advised me to add rel="external" to all of my external links. I'm not sure if a different condition would apply whether the link stayed within my site or went elsewhere. In any event, it's still not working. The changes get me to my desired page on internal links, but the pop-up still engages and I have to click "OK" before it takes me there.I'm obviously looking to get this to work so that all internal links go straight to the page they're defined to, without the pop-up engaging at all. Both script versions are below:
My original:
<script type="text/javascript"> var internal = 0; function bunload() {
I am having bother with fixing an output of some data calculations I have into thousandths. I require the output to place a comma where a thousandth is formed, so it's an easier read currency. I also have these fields set to 2 decimal places though, so I wonder if there is anyway to include this in the script? As you can see from this code below, I have used the .toFixed(-) code, therefore I require a method to break down the thousandths in the same way.
I am trying to fire an animation or even a simple fadeIn() by itself during a hover event. So far non of this fires. I am no longer getting any errors in my chrome inspector. The only things that will work is getting the id and firing the alert with the id in it.
$('.thumb_image', '#thumbs_section').hover(function() { id = this.id; var info_id = 'info_'+id;
I'm working thru the jQuery Visual Quickstart Guide by Peachpit Press. I got to chapter 9, which deals with Widgets, and I'm stuck.I copied the links to the the jQuery UI codes, but the accordion plugin is not working
Has anyone implemented an interactive map using jquery? The general idea is that when the user hovers over a bullet on a selected city, it would bring up a lightbox type of thing, which would have multiple images in the lightbox which the user can then select and link to a seperate page depending on which image they clicked. Would this be possible using jquery or would javascript be required?
I am a novice jQuery user and I was assigned a job to create an interactive map for a website. I want to make a simple nap, but I have no idea where to start. I am trying to make a simple map (as attached) so when a user comes to a homepage, the map would be visible. Then when the cursor is rolled over the map, different states appear in different color and when clicked, the user is taken to another page. Sounds simple, but I cannot find any useful info.I do not want anyone posting any codes, I want to try to do it myself.
I need to fill a form field when I click on part of region map. I think that jquery is solution at this issue but i don't know how it work. I'don't know how to join map to form field.
We have a master list of hundred songs we can draw from in our database. I have already created a php / mysql / ajax (maybe not needed here) combination which populates the page with a table of a master list of items. Currently when the worship leader clicks on the name of the song it is moved to a new table, and then that list gets placed in a database and emails get sent to the appropriate people.
Two things I can't quite wrap my head around: In the master list I would like to be able to get jquery to filter the master table by letter. i.e. songs starting with Q only with the added ability to show all again... Of course if the last song with Q was just selected the list should automatically go back to showing all. I was doing this with Ajax, but feel this is a waste as jQuery can handle this directly. After the list is in the new table I would like to be able to do something like: [URL].
I want to create a interactive map viewer likeGooglemaps using my own custom map image. On clicking a location on the map, a small popup displayed showing some data. I aslo want a zooming and panning functionality. note that i am using aLinuxserver. The application must not use flash.
I'm rewriting our website at present, and am quite ok with HTML and CSS, but am not particularly au fait with Javascript.
Here's the page I'm having a bit of trouble with: [url]
If you look at the long button marked 'Diagnostics', you'll see it has an arrow and initiates a drop-down menu on mouse-over. My problem is that I wish to further subdivide the three items on the sub-menu, ie, Visual to become sub-menued into Dermatoscope and Penlight. In other words, the Visual button initiates another drop-down menu on mouse-over.
Basically, therefore, I'm trying to expand the Javascript to make this happen, but I just don't seem to able to.
Anyone here using Visual Studio 2008 to edit Javascript files? Wheneven I try to edit a .JS file (regardless of whether I've created it inside VS2008 or imported it), I get the tab with the file name, but the content doesn't update. I just see the contents of the previous tab, and if I type something, press save, rename the .JS file to something else and open it again, it turns out whatever I typed in is there.
If I "Open with..." the file, selecting source code editor instead of the default script editor, the file shows up fine, and I can work with it, but sadly without intellisense and color mark-up... Which sort of defeats the whole point of buying VS2008. I've tried the repair option from the VS2008 DVD, but no difference.
I'm using VS2008 v9.0.30729.1 SP1 on a swedish XP Pro SP2, tried restarting VS2008, rebooting etc, nothing helps. One workaround for me is to enclose the javascript in HTML "<script>" tags and renaming the file .htm and include it that way, but that's... ugly and ..
I've previously written an image carousel with lightbox and to be honest forgot about it for quite a long time. I've just been tasked with making a few modifications (I wrote this code about 6 months ago)
Now, the problem I have is that I now need to call the internal method from the ligthbox plugin.
I've tried setting a reference to this like this but it just won't play ball. I can see that the ajax feed gets called but unfortunately I can't then access it.
Firstoff: I know I ask about using a plugin, and I wasn't so sure where to put my question in, decided though the general jQuery-Forum would be better as my problem is more connected to jQuery than the plugin itself. First off, I'm using this plugin and modified it myself a bit, adding new functions: [URL] You'll find the underlying .js for the component here: [URL] Now, scroll to the end of the file, you'll find some "internal functions" like _registerRemoveEvents
I need to create an interactive map similar to the one on this site: [url]
It is a map of a fictional area ( a real area but there are fictional buildings and characters on it) so I don't think google maps plugins are suitable.
In other words, I need a map where by clicking the objects on the map, a popup window pops up with additional information about the 'scene' or a 'character'.
In addition, the map will be dark from the beginning and more and more sites and characters will be revealed on it every week.
